Cinderella flinched. “Jeez, sorry. But you weren’t answering me and I needed to know you heard what I said. Bianca has been looking into me, I can feel it in my bones! We need to think of a strategy to deal with her.”
Bianca… “Conroy’s wife is out of the hospital? You never told me this in your reports.”
Cinderella avoided my gaze. “Well, I didn’t think it was very important. And she’s his ex-wife. It’s not like she’s in his life anymore. He hates her. She shouldn’t have been a problem but she’s trying to be.”
I pushed the chair back, then reached for my cane. With its help, I stood up. My black hair brushed my shoulders as I approached her. Cinderella’s fear was visible but she still put up a calm facade. I stared her down, my eyes glowing.
“We had a deal, werewolf. I’d tell you how to get into Conroy’s good graces and you report everything to me. That doesn’t mean you get to pick and choose what to report. You leave anything out, I won’t be happy.”
Cinderella frowned. “It’s not like I haven’t done just that! Everything that Conroy accomplished, I told you. I sent you pictures of his wedding. Even when you wanted videos of us fucking, I didn’t say anything about how weird it was. You told me how to get Conroy to like me and helped me build my name in high society. I am extremely grateful! But if Bianca finds out, you might get in trouble too for faking her death once the police reopen the case. Once that happens, you can say goodbye to those first hand videos of my boyfriend porking me down.”
“Hm.” I tilted my head. “You’re right. You have been useful to me. I picked you because I saw something in you that I saw in myself. You knew what you wanted was far away, yet you still yearned for it, knowing that it was out of reach.”
“Yes!” Cinderella clapped her hands together. “So you get it!”
“You were willing to do anything to get closer to him, even if your plans weren’t well thought out. In fact, they weren’t your plans at all.”
I stepped closer, enjoying the way her smile fell from her face.
“What do you mean? If you told me you had a plan that would get me and Conroy together I would have definitely remembered it. I mean, you know I’m not one to not give you any credit. Without you, I would have remained a no-named girl whose father worked in the film industry. When we met, that day started the best days of my life.”
I smiled and leaned forward. “Is that so?” My lips brushed against her ears. “You’ve been a great help to me as well. Thank you for that. But You’ve served your purpose.”
“What?”
Cinderella gasped.
My knife bypassed her ribcage and punctured her lung. Cinderella tried to push me away but I wouldn’t budge. Blood flowed out of her mouth. I twisted the blade.
She hit me and tried to dig into my skin with her nails. Before long, she fell to the floor.
Cinderella tried to take in oxygen. Too bad she couldn’t breath and choke on blood at the same time.
Blood from her wound and her mouth stained her pretty little pink shirt. She stared at me in horror and disbelief.
I could see the thoughts racing in her head. Her eyes darted around the garage, looking for something, anything, that could save her. I watched as the hope disappeared from her eyes as she realized there is nothing that can save her.
Then she stopped moving.
A pool of blood stained the floor beneath her. I watched until I could no longer hear her breathe.
I sighed, pushing my hair back. “What a disappointment,” I said out loud. “I was hoping to hold out for a while longer.”
After getting a hold of the remote, I closed the garage door.
“Looks like I’ll have to announce my return sooner than I thought.”

When Mom first brought him home from the hospital, I knew that I had met the love of my life.
She and dad chose the name “Conroy”. I thought it was perfect.
I wanted to be around him all the time. I would change his diapers, take him out for walks and feed him despite being 8 years old when he was born. My parents were proud of me for being such a responsible older sister. But that wasn’t it. I didn’t want him to like them more than me. At the time I thought this was how all people thought of their little brothers.
But as I got older, I came to realize that wasn’t the case.
In my last year of highschool, Conroy had only become cuter. As a growing ten year old, his looks were developing and people were taking notice. He knew how to speak sweetly and was always polite. They wouldn’t stop pinching his cheeks and giving him compliments.
It angered me to the core. I had a boyfriend at the time, but I still couldn’t help feeling jealous. How dare they get close to him while I have to hide my true feelings? A stupid little girl from his class gave him a rose for valentines day. The next time I saw her was when I stopped outside his school to pick him up. I got out of the car. She happened to be running after her friends at the time. I put out my foot and tripped her.
Her knee bled. Those cries of hers sounded nice. It was my little way of getting revenge since she decided to try and build a house on my territory.
I shand around Conroy more and more, effectively chasing away his friends. My boyfriend broke up with me. He called me weird and obsessed. The break up might just be a blessing instead of a curse. Having to maintain our relationship took up too much time. Time that I could have spent with Conroy.
One night when my mother was wiping off his cheeks, I snapped and slapped her hands away. Then I took a napkin and wiped the gravy off myself. My parents looked at each other.
Later that night, after I put Conroy to bed and told him how much I love him, Mom and Dad decided that we needed to have a talk.
