27. In The Name Of Love

**Jasmine**

I sat on the large sofa while my parents occupied the loveseat. They looked worried. I just wanted them to hurry up and start talking, but I smiled like there was nothing wrong.

That’s when they revealed to me that they thought I was acting too close with my brother. They claim my presence smothered him and stopped him from developing proper friendships.

My question to that was why was that their problem? Conroy loved having me near him and I had no plans of leaving him alone. Our bond was special after all, something they would never understand.

Then they told me that my ex-boyfriend raised some concerns.

My blood boiled. I told them that they can’t take Conroy away from me just because my ex-boyfriend was exaggerating things. But it was too late. They saw my outburst as a sign that they were right. They had made their decision. I would be going to a private college far away, where I wouldn’t be in contact with Conroy.

Not only that, but they would change Conroy’s phone number and only have him contact me through them. To say I was pissed would be an understatement.

But I told myself they would never do it. They were just blushing to scare me into submission. Conroy was all that I had and they now knew that.

I came to a conclusion. If I behave and give Conroy the space that he never asked for, then they would change their minds. I had the full intention of attending a college close by so that I could see Conroy often.

It seemed to work, as much as it hurt me to pull away. My parents seemed satisfied too.

So why was it that they applied for me to attend a private college without my knowledge.

I couldn’t stop crying when my bags were packed and the car was ready to go. I hugged Conroy super tight. He cried with me. Of course he did, I was the woman he loved the most.

I kept telling myself that it’s okay. Soon I would graduate with my bachelor’s degree, get a job, and earn a lot of money by the time Conroy became an adult. Then he would live with me and we would create a whole new life together away from our parents. We would start a new family and spend most of our time in bed, telling the other how much we loved each other. It was the only thing holding me together when I drove away in my own car with my father’s car following behind me.

He wanted to help me move into my dorm, but my blood boiled every time I saw him. During the entire time I was unpacking, I didn’t say a word to him no matter how much he tried to talk to me.

The first month of college were the worst days of my life. I cried in my sleep during the entire first first week there. It didn’t help that Mom and Dad kept their word and changed his number, effectively cutting me off from my lifeline.

I fell into a deep depression. The only thing keeping me afloat were the three thousand, four hundred and forty-six photos of him saved to my phone and cloud. I kissed one of his pictures every time I went to bed.

As the years passed, my hatred for my parents never died down. It only grew.

But I had gotten really good at putting up a facade. Every time I came over for the holidays, I kept my distance from Conroy and joked with everyone like nothing was wrong. I pretended as if these people haven’t separated me from my one true love, then had the nerve to have another child.

Alas, I knew my time would come. During his teen years Conroy still thought of me as the strongest pillar in his life. Whenever he needed something, I was there to give him advice, money, anything! Those two might have stopped us from talking on the phone but there was nothing they could do to stop us from sending letters. All he needed was a different address, and he acquired that by paying a small local store to collect letters for him. Problem solved. No one can stand in the way of what is true love.

He got more handsome the older he got. Whenever I had a bad day at work, I would pull up one of his pictures and slip my fingers under my panties. My imagination was filled with things he would do to me if he was with me right at that moment.

Finally the day came when Conroy moved out for college. No one could stop us anymore.

He had yet to fall in love with me, but I knew the day wasn’t far away when he would realize I was the love of his life.

No matter how many silly little bitches he takes as his girlfriend after they worm their way into his life, at the end of the day I would always be there. The only woman worthy of being by his side.

But I got impatient.

Conroy mentioned to me that Mom and Dad were encouraging him to hang out with his friends more instead of taking up all my time. They claimed I needed to live my life separate from him.

How dare they. Haven’t they separated us enough? All the years filled with pain I endured came rushing back to me.

That’s when I met Cinderella at the gala. Never before have I met someone as greedy as I was. She wanted everything despite coming from a privileged background, but most of all she wanted him.

Instead of feeling jealous, I found myself rather intrigued. So I befriended her.

After a year passed, we made a deal.

She was completely under my little toe. All I needed was a little push and all my problems would fly out the window.

A little family trip.

A bit of meddling with the car.

A small suggestion that we should use a certain road to come back home.

A seatbelt around both me and my love.

A dummy who was heading straight for us.

A wrong turn with no way of stopping the car.

Then viola! Problem solved.
