Chapter 35
Chapter 35
Fortunately, Ethan was in a daze by the river for a while, and then sat down on a stone nearby. I finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Ethan saw me, and his expression was very surprised. I took the initiative to speak.
"Ethan, what happened? Did you quarrel with Miranda?"
As soon as I said this, Ethan sighed heavily, and the muscles on his face tightened. His forbearing and sad look made me feel distressed.
I felt an inexplicable impulse in my heart, and wanted to give him a hug, but when I thought of Jack, I was stunned again.
I remembered that I had told Jack that I would be responsible for him. Thinking of this, I had to sit down on another stone.
Ethan looked at the turbulent river with hesitant eyes, frowning and dazed, and I didn't know what he was thinking.
I wanted to say something to comfort him, but I was afraid of disturbing him, so I could only remain silent with heartache.
After a long time, Ethan turned his head and looked at me.
"Miranda used our common money to invest in a fake project introduced by a professor at school without telling me, and ended up losing all her money. I complained that she should have discussed it with me, or at least reminded her that it was a scam, but she not only didn't listen, but also got angry and blamed me for not trusting her and not tolerating her, and even grabbed my face in a rage. I was really disappointed in her."
From an objective point of view, I quickly determined that it must be Miranda's fault.
But I didn't want to add fuel to the fire, so I had to comfort him.
"Ethan, don't be angry. I guess Miranda must be in a very bad mood after being cheated. She just wants to calm down. When she calms down, she will realize her mistake and apologize to you."
Ethan looked at me blankly and sighed.
"Thank you for comforting me. I'm fine. You don't have to accompany me."
I pointed to the turbulent river and smiled bitterly.
"I'm afraid you'll jump into the river if I leave."
Ethan was finally amused by my exaggerated words.
"I'm not that fragile. Do I want to jump into the river just because I lost some money? I just want to find a place where no one is and be quiet. I will go back in a while."
"Then go back now, otherwise I won't leave."
Seeing Ethan's expression relaxed, I also smiled, Ethan said.
"I don't want to go back to face Miranda now. I think both of us need to be quiet."
"Oh, then where do you live?"
A hint of hope appeared in my heart. I hoped that Ethan would ask me to help, at least I could do something for him, but Ethan said.
"I can live in the professor's dormitory in the university. Although the conditions are not very good, I can live there."
I nodded, feeling a little choked up in my heart, and I also had a lot to say to him, but when the words came to my lips, I found that I couldn't say a word.
I had to get up and walk away, but at this time, Ethan called me from behind.
"Michael, do you still like me?"
Ethan's voice made me tremble all over, and I froze in place for a moment, unable to move.
But I immediately thought that I already had Jack, and I couldn't hurt Jack anymore, so I forced myself to resist the urge to turn back, said nothing, and walked out quickly.
Along the way, I was in a daze, thinking about what Ethan meant by asking me if I still liked him.
Why did he ask me that? Could it be that he couldn't bear to part with me and still loved me in his heart?
What should I do if that's the case, after all, I have Jack now...
Somehow, I took a taxi and stopped in front of the boxing gym. Maybe I wanted to vent my depression by boxing.
As soon as I entered the door, Owen greeted me enthusiastically.
"Hey, Michael, what's wrong with you? You look so sad. Did someone dump you? Haha."
"No, don't talk nonsense-"
I was about to explain to Owen, and the fierce voice of coach James suddenly came over.
"Michael! Do you know that you are five minutes late? Explain to me why!"
I looked at James absent-mindedly.
"Something happened, I had to--"
Unexpectedly, James interrupted me fiercely before I could finish my words.
"This is not a reason for you to be late! Besides, why didn't you call me in advance when you were late?!"
I looked at James speechlessly, thinking, no wonder Owen said James was fierce, I didn't expect that I would experience it so soon.
But, I just signed up for a business boxing class, not a job, is it necessary for him to be so strict?
I was a little reluctant to perfunctory.
"Some personal matters, it was urgent, I didn't have time to call."
"Michael! You are too much, you are late and dare to talk back to the coach, this is disrespectful to the sport of boxing!"
I was startled by James' sudden roar, and I cursed and stared at him, he got even angrier and yelled at me loudly.
"You are not allowed to attend class today. You must stand in the corner!"
"Hey, James, are you sick? I am just practicing boxing as an amateur. I don't work here. Do you have to be so strict?"
James probably didn't expect me to be so bold to contradict him. He was stunned for a moment, and I took the opportunity to walk out quickly.
Lucas, who was in charge of reception at the front desk, saw that I looked very unhappy and asked with concern.
"Michael? Why did you leave so early?"
"Go ask your crazy coach why. I really regret signing up for boxing training!"
After saying that, I walked out of the boxing gym angrily. Maybe I walked too fast and didn't notice that I bumped into someone. The person immediately scolded me angrily.
"Damn, don't you have eyes?"
