Chapter 95 Biological Father

Bianca's voice shook as she clung to Calliope's hand like it was her lifeline.

Calliope knew Bianca was being honest, but the law was the law, and there was no bending it.

Sophia hadn't been convicted yet because she was seriously ill. Given her medical condition, the authorities decided she needed a better place to recover, so they released her.

But Elijah? He was already convicted and sentenced to life!

Even if Matthew had some pull, he wouldn't break the law for this. Plus, Calliope didn't think she was that important.

She took a deep breath, ready to make her decision clear.

"Mrs. Brown, I can't help with Mr. Brown's situation."

Bianca's face went pale. She hadn't expected Calliope to shut her down so firmly!

Calliope had hesitated just a moment ago. Why the sudden change of heart?

Anger flashed in Bianca's eyes, but she quickly switched back to pleading.

"Calliope, please! Sophia's health is getting worse, and I can't even buy her supplements. Go to Mr. Moore and ask him for money!"

Bianca's voice was almost a wail.

But Calliope couldn't muster any sympathy. If Bianca wasn't so selfish, she could've used the money for new clothes to help Sophia instead.

"Mrs. Brown, I've saved up some money from my job. I can give you $100,000 as a favor. But I can't go to Mr. Moore. It's over between us."

"What? You broke up with him?!" Bianca screamed.

"Are you stupid? You should've held onto him! What about me and Sophia?"

The VIP ward, surgery fees, living expenses—all of it came from Matthew!

"Are you crazy? Go back and beg him to take you back! Even if his wife hits you, you have to endure it!" Bianca didn't care who was listening.

The onlookers started to judge Calliope with disdain.

People loved to criticize, even when it wasn't their business.

Calliope's gaze was steady.

"Mrs. Brown, would you let your daughter become someone's mistress for my sake?"

"Are you insane? Why would she do something so disgraceful for you? Have you no shame?" Bianca cursed, forgetting she had just asked Calliope to do the same.

"You know it's disgraceful. I'm grateful for your support, but to repay that kindness, I sold myself. I'm really tired and can't do it anymore."

Calliope's voice was calm but filled with determination and exhaustion.

She was done being used and refused to sacrifice her happiness and dignity for them.

Bianca's face showed a hint of embarrassment, and she realized her words were too harsh, but she quickly went back to pleading.

"Calliope, I was just mad. Don't take it to heart. You're a good kid, and I know you've got your own struggles. But Elijah and Sophia really need your help!" Bianca's voice shook, her eyes pleading, with less acting this time. She was genuinely scared Calliope wouldn't be at her beck and call anymore.

Calliope took a deep breath. She knew Bianca's request was driven by endless greed and selfishness, but she also understood that Bianca's despair wasn't entirely fake.

Still, she had made up her mind. She wasn't going to be Bianca's puppet anymore.

Calliope's voice was calm and firm. "I'll give you one hundred thousand dollars. From now on, I'll earn money and provide the basic living expenses for you and Sophia. I'll cover her medical expenses. But for fancy clothes and bags, you'll have to work for those yourself."

Bianca looked at Calliope, unable to argue. She knew that no matter how much she pressured Calliope, nothing would change.

Slowly standing up, Bianca staggered slightly from the overwhelming sadness.

Calliope instinctively reached out to help, but Bianca harshly slapped her hand away.

Bianca's voice was filled with despair. "If I had known you were so ungrateful, I would never have supported you."

Calliope smiled bitterly.

If she had known the Brown family was so greedy, she would never have accepted their support. She would rather have died with her grandmother on that cold night.

She had given everything she had, yet to the Brown family, she was ungrateful.

It seemed she would have to let Bianca truly suffer in the future.

Calliope stood up, straightened her clothes, and prepared to leave the coffee shop.

But then, Bianca's sinister voice came from behind.

"Calliope, have you never wondered who your real father is?"

This sentence pulled Calliope into a bottomless pit.

Calliope's parents had raised her, but they weren't her biological parents.

They didn't know Calliope's origins, only saying they found her on the street.

Her mother had even gently advised her when she was young not to be sad because of the cruel words of other kids in class.

"You're not my biological child, but you were raised with love. Don't feel inferior, my Calliope."

Bianca's hysterical voice pulled her out of her memories.

"Elijah supported you instead of other students because you're his child!"

Calliope suddenly felt weak and almost fell, but she managed to hold onto a nearby chair.

"What did you say?"

"If you don't believe me, go get a paternity test. I have no reason to lie to you about this."

Calliope was still in a daze.

It meant that her biological mother had an affair with Elijah if she were his daughter.
