Chapter 87 I'll Accompany You

Harry signaled his guys to hand Calliope a phone, then said coldly, "Mess with me, and I'll feed you and your kid to the sharks."

Calliope took the phone, her heart pounding, her fingers numb. She took a deep breath and started dialing.

It was weird. She hadn't memorized his number, but now she could dial it so easily.

After a few rings, someone picked up.

"Matthew, it's Calliope."

She tried to keep her voice steady, but inside she was freaking out. Every word she said could mean life or death.

Matthew was quiet for a few seconds, then asked coldly, "What do you want?"

"I need to talk to you. Can you come see me?"

"Didn't you say you'd never look back? Why are you calling now? I don't have time."

Calliope's heart sank. Matthew's cold tone made it clear he had no intention of meeting her.

Harry lost his patience and grabbed the phone.

"Matthew! If you don't come, I'll rip this woman's baby out and throw it at your doorstep. Your whole family will never have peace!"

Matthew was silent for a few more seconds.

"Harry?"

"Yeah, it's me! You've pushed me to the edge, so I'm not gonna make it easy for you!"

Matthew finally got it. His voice became clearer, like he brought the phone closer.

"Calliope is with you?"

"Yep, and she's about to be shark food. The baby in her belly is yours. Two lives at stake. Don't you care at all?"

Calliope looked at the phone with desperate eyes, hoping Matthew wouldn't reveal she wasn't pregnant.

"Tell me the address."

Harry was thrilled and quickly gave the address, making it clear Matthew had to come alone in one car. If anyone else showed up, Calliope would be killed immediately.

"Got it. Any other demands? Need me to bring anything?"

"Get me a boat and ten million dollars in cash. I'm not asking for much!"

"Got it. Let me hear Calliope's voice again."

That was Matthew's only request.

Since answering the call, Matthew had been very cooperative, and Harry was considering whether to agree.

Harry glanced at Calliope, hesitated, but handed the phone over.

"Only one more sentence, then I'm hanging up."

"Calliope," Matthew said, "don't be afraid. Wait for me."

"Okay."

The next moment, Harry hung up the phone.

Tears instantly streamed down Calliope's cheeks.

Matthew's voice was unprecedentedly gentle as he comforted her.

Harry demanded he come alone. Matthew, being so smart, should know he would be in great danger.

But why did he still agree? Why didn't he expose her lie?

Harry looked at Calliope's dazed expression, a hint of smugness in his eyes.

"I didn't expect Matthew to be such a lovesick fool, and you're an idiot for not realizing he was protecting you by suspending you. You even used the child as leverage. What a fool, hahaha!"

Harry's other two men also laughed, already imagining their luxurious life abroad with Harry.

As time ticked by, Calliope's anxiety grew stronger.

She knew Matthew was walking right into Harry's trap.

Calliope regretted everything. She didn't want Matthew to come save her anymore. Maybe Matthew really thought she was pregnant, and when he got here and found out it was a lie, he might even be in danger.

Finally, Harry's men reported that Matthew was approaching the agreed location.

Harry's face lit up with a wild smile. He signaled his men to get ready.

A car's headlights pierced through the dark night, slowly approaching from a distance. Calliope recognized it as the Maybach he had driven to chase after her.

This car had once brought her home from an unfamiliar place, and now it was here to take her back.

If she was just a lover, why would Matthew go to such lengths?

Calliope couldn't help but ask herself, 'Am I really just a lover for you to vent your desires on? Is there really no other feeling between us?'

The car stopped at the dock. When Matthew got out, he took two large boxes from the back seat and placed them in front of the car.

The boat was about 160 feet from the shore, so he could only roughly see people, not their expressions.

"I brought the money you wanted. Where's Calliope?"

Harry had his men move the boat to about 30 feet from the shore, still very cautious.

"Put the money on this lifeboat."

A small lifeboat was thrown from the boat, and one of Harry's men rowed over.

That man now held his head high with arrogance.

"Hurry up, Mr. Moore."

Without hesitation, Matthew opened the boxes, showing the stacks of cash, and placed them on the lifeboat along with a black bag.

Harry's man quickly rowed the lifeboat back to the big boat. Harry signaled his men to check the cash, and the black bag contained three passports and a boat key. After confirming everything, he ordered his men to bring Calliope out.

"Matthew, you're quite thoughtful, even preparing the passports. Does this woman really mean that much to you?"

Calliope was held by two of Harry's men against the railing. Although the night wind messed up her hair, sometimes blocking her view, her eyes never left Matthew's figure, filled with complex emotions.

Matthew had come to save her.

Matthew stood there, his gaze firm and deep. Even from such a distance, it seemed to tell Calliope that no matter what happened, he would protect her.

Matthew commanded, "Release her now."

"No." Harry directly refused.

Even Calliope's expression changed this time. She asked, "What do you mean? Didn't you say you'd let me go if Matthew came?"

"Are you stupid? We haven't seen the boat yet, and we haven't safely left the country. Once we're abroad, I'll arrange for someone to send you back."

He still wanted her to go abroad with them?

Calliope's heart sank to the bottom. She realized she might never leave this dock.

Harry was more vicious than she imagined. He not only wanted money, but also planned to use her as a hostage to ensure his safe escape.
