Chapter 103 Living Together

People who could crack jokes with a straight face were the absolute worst.

Matthew was a total pro when it came to sex, knowing exactly how to hit all the right spots and discovering new ones. His endless tricks and skills always made Calliope feel excited and experience immense pleasure.

Calliope was sure that if Matthew came over to her place, he'd find a way to use every corner.

And if he got really creative, the noise would be off the charts.

Thinking about her paper-thin walls, Calliope regretted not shelling out more cash for a better place.

If the neighbors heard, she'd be mortified and probably have to move out.

From what he said, Calliope realized she needed to move anyway.

She turned to Matthew and blinked. "Matthew, how long do I have to be your girl?"

She'd been wanting to bring this up for ages but never found the right moment.

They'd agreed on three months, and now it was time to get serious about when it would end.

Matthew's face darkened instantly, his expression turning predatory.

He was too sharp not to catch the drift in Calliope's question.

She was asking for a deadline, a point where she could walk away.

She'd never considered staying with him long-term.

"You really don't want to be with me?"

His voice, already deep, now carried a weight that made it hard to breathe.

"Of course not, I'm just asking." Calliope wasn't about to admit it. She batted her big eyes and softened her voice on purpose.

She quickly realized this topic pissed Matthew off, so she played the innocent and helpless card.

Matthew knew she was up to something and it made him furious.

"You'll leave when I say so, and not a moment before."

He stood up, towering over her. "Go pack your stuff and move in today. Don't make me repeat myself."

Calliope stared at him, wide-eyed.

When would he get tired of her? Three months, a year, or even longer?

She had no clue. It was a total mystery.

After Matthew left, Calliope went to see Elijah, who'd been through five surgeries and had five close calls, each time barely making it.

Now he was stuck in the ICU, hooked up to machines, practically a vegetable, with death lurking around the corner.

Thinking about it made Calliope's heart ache with sorrow and heaviness.

Whether or not Elijah was her real dad, he had helped her so much over the years, and she couldn't stand the thought of him ending up like this.

Calliope called Bianca and filled her in on Elijah. Bianca rushed over with Sophia as soon as she heard.

The two of them looked at Elijah in the ICU and broke down in tears.

"Who would want to hurt my dad?"

Sophia was crying so hard she could barely breathe, shaking all over and gasping for air.

She was so worked up that her face went pale and her lips turned blue.

Calliope tried to explain, "Mr. Brown got into a fight in prison, and the other guy hit him really hard. The doctors are doing everything they can, but he might not wake up."

Calliope sighed deeply, feeling awful herself.

Bianca wiped her tears, her eyes filled with anger. "It wasn't just a fight. Someone wanted him dead!"

"What!" Sophia gasped.

Yesterday in prison, Calliope had a feeling something was off because Elijah's injuries were so severe. But with everything happening so fast, she pushed the thought aside. Now, thinking back, it did seem fishy.

"Calliope, you have to find a way to save Elijah. He's your dad!"

Bianca grabbed Calliope's hand so hard, her eyes desperate.

"Mom, what are you saying? How could Calliope be my sister?"

Sophia was stunned by her words, forgetting to cry.

All these years, she thought she was her parents' only child.

Calliope pulled her hand free, looking helpless. "Mrs. Brown, the best doctors in the hospital are already treating Mr. Brown. Now it's up to him whether he has the will to live."

Hearing this, Sophia broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

Bianca was silent for a moment, then her eyes lit up, and she looked up sharply. "Calliope, did Mr. Moore help save Elijah? You two haven't broken up, right? Go ask Mr. Moore for help. He must have a way to save Elijah!"

How could Calliope have saved Elijah alone from the jail?

Bianca knew Calliope was her only hope, and she had to hold on to it.

Sophia couldn't stop coughing, her face turning red.

Seeing this, Bianca rushed over to hold Sophia, gently patting her back.

It took a while for Sophia to calm down, but her face was even paler.

Sophia still didn't have a suitable bone marrow match, and she had to rely on medication every day.

Now her emotional state was making her condition worse.

Bianca turned to Calliope, "Sophia is your sister. You have to find a way to help her with the bone marrow transplant!"

All these things were weighing Bianca down, making her emotionally unstable.

Calliope frowned, feeling helpless about Sophia's illness. The bone marrow registry had no matches.

Because of this, Bianca had come to her many times. Calliope felt it was necessary to make things clear.

"Mrs. Brown, I'm really sorry, but there is no suitable bone marrow now. I will keep in touch with the registry. As soon as there is a match, I will let you know immediately."

Before Calliope could finish, Bianca raised her voice and shouted, "Calliope, you can't just watch Sophia die. You don't have money, but Mr. Moore does. He must have a way to find the bone marrow. Since you've been together for so long, he will help you."
