Confide in Meg

Loriann's POV

Life as Romero's baby mama is definitely great.

He goes out of his way to make me feel comfortable in our relationship and the pack has accepted our special circumstances. The triplets are being pampered by both the pack and their grandparents. Especially our little princess, Adlin Elaine Jon. She is the light of the packhouse, her smile is so adorable.

Still, I stay alert, my anniversary is a week away. Romero is planning a big party.

My concern now is whether my wolf will recognize him as our mate. We both know that the future of our relationship depends on it. Romero is still trying to get me to reject our mates if it turns out that we are not meant to be together.

My concern is for the strength of the mate bond. Many mated wolves have affirmed that it is unbreakable, it increases the instinct to be together. So Romero may plan to reject his mate, but when it comes down to it, he may not be able to do so.

My plan is to make a deal with that mate. Publicly reject Romero or get a taste of my arrow. I polished it and waited patiently. Those seem like two good options, don't they?

"Lori, dear. Megan is on her way. She's trying to reach you, but your mind wall is closed." Romero pulls me out of my thoughts. I turn to him and see him walking toward me. He joins me in the hammock and slips his arm around me.

"Hmmm, you smell like morning dew. A unique scent I've never smelled before," he murmurs against my neck. "Would that be the beginning of recognition?" I roll my eyes at his words.

He has been smelling all kinds of scents on me for several days now. Yesterday it was lavender, today it's morning dew. "Romero, please. What you smell is Adlin Elaine Jon. She just sat on my lap before Rachel came to get her. And she did it again yesterday, lavender seems to be her favorite".

He chuckles and moves his nose closer to my skin. His hand begins to caress my neck until it reaches my chin, turning my face towards his. His tongue traces the edge of my lips until it seeks access to my mouth.

A heat inside me erupts into a fire that only he can quench. "Romero, we're on the terrace. Someone could come in any minute," I whisper as soon as we break the kiss to catch our breath. I pull his body closer to mine, needing more than just a kiss. Romero laughs softly, he has not missed my eagerness.

"No one comes here. They can hear what we are doing. And the pack wants more pups, love". I am too drunk on him to fully comprehend the implications of his words. Our lips meet again in a fiery kiss that we can't get enough of. Romero's hand goes down my back and unzips my dress.

"Phew, please, you guys are taking a room. This is not good for my virgin eyes". As if stung by a bee, we let go of each other and turn to face the person who dared to interrupt us.

"Meg! Girl!" I call soberly as I push Romero aside. As I hop out of the hammock, it tilts sideways, sending Romero crashing to the ground. I stare at him in shock, but when he gets up and rubs his head, I see he is all right. I run into the arms of my best friend.

"I don't need to ask you how you're doing, Lori. From what I've just seen, everything here is perfect. And in a week we'll have the big party." Meg hugs me back and of course, she can't resist teasing me.

"And you are one day ahead of me. Nothing can stop me from being there, I want to see you become the Luna of Blue Blood. I've worked too hard for that and I want to see it happening," I assure her.

"Yes, Alvarez is throwing a massive party. Not that I need him, I just want him, his mark, his love," she answers dreamily. Romero has already left us alone to do our girl's talk.

I lead Meg to a couch where we can sit comfy.

"Lori, I'm here to clear things up. And I hope you trust me enough to tell me the truth," she says quietly. "I want to assure you that I will always stand by you, no matter what. We are friends for life."

This introduction does not bode well, but I know I can trust Meg. She has proven to be there for me in my time of need.

"What is it, Meg? You're being mysterious and that makes me very curious." I stare at her expectantly.

"I want you to tell me about Louise and Cliara. And the reason for your actions. And I also want to know about the promise Romero made to you that made you act so rigorously, Lori, tell me everything."

To be honest, I didn't expect this. What Meg is asking me to do is to expose my past and jeopardize my future. If I tell her what I plan to do on the day of Romero's anniversary, when he meets his fated mate, she might alert her.

"Why do you want to know? What can this information do for you?" I ask her in a calm tone. "Maybe you should wait and see how things turn out."

"Lori, Cliara is out for revenge. She will also be here on Romero's birthday. I don't know what she's planning, but she'll definitely come with backup. We must be prepared."

I am startled by her words; Meg seems to be aware of my encounter with the two of them. There is little point in denying it now.

And then I tell her about the promise Romero made to me at the preschool and my plan to hold him to it. Louise and Cliara were in my way and I dealt with them accordingly.

After I have finished telling my story, Meg takes me in her arms.

"Silly girl. None of this was necessary. You see how crazy Romero is about you. You should have just waited and everything would have been fine. All you had to do was trust the Moon Goddess. ..
