No Going Back

No Going Back
Derek's POV

I couldn't help but chuckle as Rachael scolded me, her voice stern but her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Derek, you need to stop moving around so much! Your wounds are still healing, and you're going to open them up again if you're not careful."

I grabbed her hand and pulled her down onto the bed with me, wrapping my arms around her. "I'm fine, Rachael," I said, smiling up at her. "And besides, I've had the best nurse taking care of me."

It had been a few days since I'd been in the hospital, and Rachael had been by my side the entire time. She'd only left to go home and change, or to bring me food. But apart from that, she'd spent every waking moment with me.

We'd even made love on the hospital bed once, which had been a whole new experience for both of us. It had been a little uncomfortable, but it had also been incredibly intimate. And now that we were finally dating, it felt like an entire new world had opened up for us.

I looked up at Rachael, feeling grateful for her presence in my life. "I don't know what I would have done without you, Rachael," I said, my voice sincere.

Rachael smiled, her eyes shining with tears. "You'll never have to find out," she said, leaning down to kiss me.

I felt a sense of pure joy wash over me as I gazed at Rachael. I had never felt this happy before, and it was all because of this incredible woman in my arms.

I leaned down to kiss her lips, but she placed a hand over her mouth, stopping me. I groaned in frustration, and she smirked at me, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Come on, Rachael," I said, pouting playfully. "Just a little kiss?"

I couldn't resist her teasing, so I flipped her over, pinning her beneath me. I started to kiss her neck, and she moaned, sending a wave of desire through me.

But just as things were getting heated, Rachael pushed me lightly, "No, Derek. You need to rest. And besides, we can't just make out in the hospital."

I grinned mischievously. "Why not? We've done it before."

Rachael's face turned bright red. "Derek, stop. You're going to get us in trouble."

I chuckled and pulled her close. "I'm worth it," I whispered, making her laugh.

Rachael shook her head, smiling. "Cocky. You're impossible, Derek."

I grinned, feeling happy and content. "That's why you love me," I said, making Rachael's heart skip a beat.

However, she looked resolute... I finally relented, "Gosh. You're no fun," I said jokingly.

But Rachael just rolled her eyes, "You're here for treatment and not for fun."

I chuckled, knowing that she was right. But it was hard to resist the temptation of being with her, especially when she was being so adorable.

I stared at Rachael for a moment, causing her to blush. I reached for her hand, my eyes locked on hers. "Come with me," I said, my voice low and mysterious.

Rachael looked confused, but she let me pull her out of the room. "Derek, maybe you should sit in the wheelchair," she suggested, concern etched on her face. "We don't want to exert yourself too much."

But I just smiled and pushed her down into the wheelchair instead. "I'm fine," I said, winking at her. "Besides, I've learned to take care of myself."

I wheeled Rachael out of the room and down the hospital corridor. We eventually stopped in front of a door with a sign that read "Ryan's Room". I pushed open the door, and we slipped inside.

The room was dimly lit, and the only sound was the soft beeping of machines. Ryan, Daniel's child, lay asleep in his crib, his tiny chest rising and falling with each labored breath. Rachael's eyes widened with concern as she took in the scene.

"What's wrong with him?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I felt a pang of sadness as I replied, "He's suffering from bronchopulmonary dysplasia. It's a lung disease that affects premature babies."

"Exactly why I was..." Daniel and Regina burst into the room, and immediately froze in shock to find me and Rachael standing there. The tension was palpable, but Daniel quickly broke the ice with a joke. "Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to meet his nephew," he said, grinning at me.

I could see the shock on Rachael's face as she turned to me, her eyes wide with surprise. "Is Daniel your brother?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Daniel's grin faltered for a moment as he realized that Rachael had no idea about our relationship. "Ah, I guess I should introduce myself," he said, extending his hand to Rachael. "I'm Daniel, Derek's elder brother. And this is my wife, Regina."

The fucker emphasized on the 'elder brother' on purpose. He wanted to remind me that he was still older than me.

I watched as Rachael tried to process this new information. She looked stunned, but she tried to compose herself as she shook Daniel's hand and smiled at Regina.

But then Regina dropped a bombshell. She smiled at Rachael and said, "We finally met again." Daniel and I exchanged a shocked glance. What did Regina mean by that?

Daniel's eyes narrowed slightly as he asked Regina, "Do you know Rachael?"

Regina's smile faltered for a moment before she replied, "We've met on a few occasions."

I raised an eyebrow, my gaze flicking between Regina and Rachael. "Fate really has a way with things, doesn't it?" I commented, my voice low and thoughtful.

Daniel's eyes snapped to mine, curiosity etched on his face. "What do you mean?" he asked.

I took a deep breath, knowing that I was about to drop a bombshell. "There's something I'd like to tell you all," I said, my eyes locked on Rachael's.

The room fell silent, with all eyes on me. I took another deep breath before continuing. "Rachael, I'm sorry, but I ran a background check on you. And I also ran one on Regina."

Rachael's eyes widened, a look of shock on her face. "Why would you do that?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

My eyes narrowed as I scanned them both. They seemed like acquaintances, but I didn't know if another description would fit in. What I had on the tip of my tongue could either change or destroy whatever the future held.

A part of me told me to wait and see how comfortable they'd be with each other before revealing it, but another part was tired of keeping endless secrets. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?

I hesitated for a moment before dropping the bombshell. "Well, during the process I discovered something interesting..." I took a deep breath before slipping from my tongue. "Rachael, you and Regina are sisters."

There it was and now there was no going back.
