Side Story 2.2 Crashed
Jhoanna's POV
"Bye Mom. Dad." Samuel and I said as we hugged them both.
"Take care and have fun, both of you," Mom pouted. Still sulking about the fact that it's unfair for her to have her son spend time at the dormitories for two years. She can really be petty at times.
I drove dad's car. Fast. So fast that even Samuel is now praying to the Moon Goddess.
"My goodness, Jhoanna! Could you please slow the fuck down!? We are even a week early!" He groused. I only shrugged and revved the engine two times faster. He cussed and cussed as I laughed. We are now nearing the University's gate.
Until I saw one car driving in the opposite direction. I tried to slow down, and the car did too, but it was too late. We crashed into each other.
Oh, no one was hurt, alright.
EXCEPT FOR ME WHEN THIS NEWS REACHES DAD.
"Dad will literally kill me." I overdramatically mumbled as I hopped down the car and ran in front to see the damage. My hands automatically went to my mouth as I loudly gasped. Samuel grunted as he held his head, "Damn sis, you're more worried about the car?!"
"Samuel?" One familiar voice called. And when I turned my head to see who it was, the both of us groaned the hell out of our breaths.
"Hans.."
"Jhoanna.."
Of course, it just had to be him!
Hans. Hans Martin. Hans fucking Martin!
That name rolls off my tongue more times than I could ever remember. I even fear I spoke of his name more than my little brother's.
"Jhoanna?" Rio came down from the passenger's seat. So it only meant one thing.
"You're the one who drove." Both of us annoyingly exhaled.
"Dad will snap my head off." He groaned.
"You think my father's any better?" I groused.
"Then why did you drive so fast?"
"You did too!" I shot back and glared at him. Wow? How dare he put the blame on me? Even if I didn't drive that fast, we would still crash into one another either way! This is getting nowhere.
I figured there would be no better way than to be honest. Was about to place two of my fingers at my temple, but then I forgot I should really limit using my wolf's powers. Was about to ask Samuel to do it, but then my wolf growled uncontrollably within me. I bellowed in pain and slumped down. One hand on my stomach and the other to support my weight. The three of them were quick to slouch down and ask me what was wrong.
Then Hans screamed his heart out.
'Hannah.'
'Joseph.'
Could hear two wolves in my head, and one of them was mine.
Hans and I both stared at each other in shock. If anyone could hear our wolves, they would most likely be confused because it would seem like they were only calling each other.
Except they weren't.
They were naming their mates.
Mates..
He is my fucking mate!
Oh God.
'You had a nameless wolf too?!' I asked Hans through a mind-link, disregarding the fact that my wolf could very much likely force her way out.
'Too?' He replied. 'You mean, you??'
I nodded. Still quite dumbfounded about all of these. He quickly rose and held my upper arm, then yanked me away from his beta and my brother. Both of them tried to retaliate and come after us, of course. But Hans was so furious-although I don't know why-that I feared he would punch my brother and best friend.
Hans will probably lose or not, seeing that it is his Gamma, but still! No need for violence if one could solve it through words.
I glanced at them and said, "It's fine. I'll handle this jerk. Please handle the cars and.. Samuel! Tell dad of what had happened."
"You mean about the car or the fact that my best friend just yanked you away?" He said. Eyes glaring at Hans. To calm him down, I shrugged Hans' grip off me despite feeling his lingering gaze on my arm. With much confidence, I said, "Just the car."
He nodded once and warned Hans, "If you'll ever hurt her, I swear I'll kill you, bro."
Hans just nodded at him, scooped my hand tenderly this time, and we walked away.
It seems like we've been walking for a few minutes already. None of us said a single thing. There are a few students already here, and some of them.. No, let's be true; all of them know me and Hans.
"Can you at least tell me where we're going?" I asked, since the word 'silence' between us is super weird.
"Would you rather talk here?"
"Did I say that? I only asked where we're going." I puffed, and he only answered, "Somewhere silent."
I gritted my teeth. That much is obvious! I want to know where exactly!
But I just keep it all within myself, or else I might lose my cool and really snap out.
We turned corners after corners and stopped underneath one oak tree. I looked around, and there was no one else in sight. Just the two of us.. Alone.
My gaze landed back on the tree. It looks like it is only a few years old. Twenty, I guess. It stood so tall and proud that I muttered under my breath, "Pretty."
"It really is, pretty." Hans whispered.
I sneaked a peek at him, and he was looking at the tree too. And here I was thinking that he was looking at me as he said it.
I must've gone mad, because if I weren't, then I couldn't explain my behavior in the next three seconds.
Crossing my arms as I groused, "Thought you mean me."
He was taken aback and looked at me. Then, made a step forward. One step.. but that is all it took so that I could feel his hot breath fanning across mine. "You want me to call you pretty?"
His voice was deep and low. Almost like a strained growl. I gulped and looked away. "Of course not! I know I'm pretty without you telling me."
Thank Goddess, I didn't stutter. Heard him smirk and took two steps back. "So.. my dear pretty mate, why didn't you tell me about your wolf?"
"You didn't tell me about yours, either." I shrugged, ignoring the fact that he really called me pretty, and even added the words my dear mate to that! My heart beats so fucking fast, like the way I drove just minutes earlier.
"Fair point." He sighed.
"Is that why you were angry?" I asked.
"Yeah. Don't know what came into me, but I was suddenly beyond mad that you didn't tell me you were suffering all this time.. All these years."
It's the bond. The new formed thread of connection that the Moon Goddess bestowed. I want to tell him that. I could tell him that.
But strangely, I didn't, and honestly, don't want to.
"You were suffering too, Hans," I genuinely stated, just so he wouldn't be so guilty about it.
Gah. This is so awkward and new. But.. I don't mind the change.
He shook his head and held my wrist. Could feel his hot fingertips on my pulse. "I can bear it. But if it's you, I couldn't.."
"What do you..?" I gasped. "Are you rejecting me?"
"What?!" He squinted his eyes. "What on earth are you thinking about? Of course not! I would never reject you.
You are mine!"
I blinked two times and three. Until I lost count.
A bubble of strangeness crept within me.
"Never in my entire life did I ever think one day those words would come out of your mouth.."
He lifted his head and looked straight into my eyes, rubbing small circles at my wrist. "Well, you should get used to it. Because whether you like it or not, Jhoanna.. You are mine. Only mine."
My breathing hitched at his sudden possessiveness. We were just at each other's throats awhile ago, and now it feels like he is still after my throat, but for different reasons. For better reasons.
I gasped. What the fuck did I just think of!? I really, really must have gone mad or drunk, both with the bond and his oozing pheromones that I cannot seem to get enough of.
"I.. I don't know what to say." I admitted. He gave me one lopsided smile: "Say nothing. You can still be annoyed with me.."
"Oh, I'm pretty sure I would be. A hundred percent. And you to me." I snorted, and he chuckled. Suddenly, his chuckles sound so sexy now.
"Indeed. As I said, you can still be the same. The way you treat me and everything. But.. There will be some changes with the way I treat you, love."
I bit my lip. Trying to suppress a smile. Why, oh, why do I like this treatment of his? I fear I really might get used to it and even demand more of his attention now.
It's a scary feeling.. Wanting someone's attention.
Wanting Hans Martin's attention.
Hans pulled me into his embrace, as if silently telling me to focus on him. He placed his left hand around my back and head as he whispered right into my ear, "But please, Jhoanna. From now on, tell me everything. If you're in pain, In agony. In trouble. Anything at all. No matter how petty and shallow it seems. Even if you had only been bitten by a mosquito."
I giggled. "I would never say the last part. You know I wouldn't."
"I know you wouldn't," he echoed. "You are too prideful and stubborn."
"A daughter of Jacob and Sophia, yes." I exhaled, and he let out a small laugh, agreeing with my statement. "Well, that's true.."
We stayed like that for seconds and minutes. Until I can't help but break the silence.
"I.. This.. is all new to me. You being like this. But.. It just feels so right, and it feels like we've done so for years, even if what we've been doing has been nothing but fighting."
"I'm sorry if I ever hurt your feelings at some point." He sighed, burying his face in my neck. Releasing more of his pheromones. Didn't know when, but I unconsciously released mine too. And Hannah, my newly named wolf, feels so calm and collected in our mate's presence.
Our safe haven.
Our tranquilizer.
"The only time you did hurt my feelings was when you called me annoying when we were pups."
He let out one wheeze that ultimately turned into laughter. Then, he pulled me apart, only slightly, just so we could see each other.
With a deep and dark voice, he said, "You are mine, Jhoanna."
"Yours. I am yours." I was compelled to mumble and unconsciously nod.
More like.. Submitted my whole being to him.
Everything should be perfect from now on, right?
