Side Story 2 Jhoanna
Jhoanna's POV
A peaceful and relaxing afternoon, only to be ruined by one Hans Martin. The man–no, boy, was the correct term as he was two years younger than me, seems to love to annoy the life out of me. As do I to him.
Though, my little brother always teased me than he is much more mature than I ever was.
Which is, of course, not true!
Arching my brow, I asked, "And why pray, tell, are you here?"
He groaned the moment our eyes met. "If I knew you were here, would rather come in a little later.." He grumbled to which Dad growled. Hans apologized although he clearly seems to be unapologetic enough.
"This is my pack, Hans. Where else would I be?" I shot back. In the corner of my eye, saw Samuel smirking as if he knew we are starting yet another one of our fights.
"In your room? Or the training grounds? Practicing so that for once you could beat me?"
"ENOUGH!" My father roared. "I'm very much aware of your skirmish with my daughter but I would appreciate it if you won't do it here, in my pack. At my presence."
Skirmish.
I inwardly laughed at Father's term.
Hans gulped and I only smirked. Shaking my head in amusement that I could see Hans like this. Though, it annoys me that Dad is making him feel.. I don't know, scared? Be on guard and mind his manners? Instead of me.
Peering sideways and my gaze met mom's. One look and mom could tell what I asked. To let her calm the heck out of her mate!
"Jacob. Stop scaring the poor lad. Maybe he is here for you.."
"I am." Hans bravely spoke. Dad was about to reprimand him for speaking and cutting mom but mom quickly beat him into it. "See? No need to be so hostile."
Dad sighed and stared at him. No words at all. As if forcing Hans to tell what his business is so that he could go on already.
Hans handed Beta Trent a letter as he proclaimed, "It is from father. Something about you know what."
He said cryptically and looked at me. As if proud that he knew something I didn't.
"No need for secrets. Everyone in this room knows about it." Dad sighed as he read the letter and gave it to his Luna. They obviously mind-linked and talked about it for a moment and then they were gone. Probably having a meeting with the Suits; as mom always used to name the four of them, dad's friends.
I returned my attention to Hans. Who's jaw is slightly dropping. He looked at Samuel and then at me, "You guys knew about it too?"
"Well, like you, dear friend, I'm an heir." Samuel shrugged. Hans skipped a year because he is quite a smartass. Both of them are classmates, that is why they are best friends.
Hans returned his gaze at me, "And? What about you?"
"What about me?" I echoed and he grunted. "Why do you know about it?"
"I'm their daughter?" I told him the most obvious answer to piss him off. And he really did.
"I'm well aware." He snapped. "But surely you forced them to?"
"Why are you painting me as a villain? I'm mischievous at times, yes, but I would never do what you are thinking."
"Are you sure?"
"Well, that actually depends on what you're thinking, though." I shrugged and rose from my seat. "Now, if you'll excuse me."
Samuel quickly noticed something, as he always had been, and instantly mind-link me. 'Jhoanna!'
'I'm fine.' I quickly rebutted. Not sparing him a glance and continued to make haste towards the door. 'Escort our guest or entertain him, whatever.'
I heard him sigh through the mind-link. Since, he knew well than expressing something is wrong.
That something is wrong with me..
Once Hans is out of sight, I quickly ran towards my panic room. It is located just inside my own room.
After a few minutes, I could feel mom's soothing pheromones. She's just there. She knows I don't want to hear the usual 'Are you okay?' and other pleasantires because obviously, I'm not okay. I do understand that they worry and can't help it since..
I cannot control my wolf.
Sometimes she gets out on her own and I need to dig my claws in my palm to reign her in. I sighed in relief after the episode went by smoothly. She's rather weird and pretty much well behaved today.
A very rare occurrance, indeed.
-------
A year later while I'm out shopping with some other friends of mine that isn't on Woodhill Universiy, my wolf is rather obedient today too. Anyone could tell that I'm in such a good mood until he popped out beside.
"Mine!" Hans yelled when I was about touch one cute necklace that I quite fancy.
I sharply turned my head in his direction and we both closed our eyes shut and groaned once we knew it was well, each other.
"Of course, you're here." He grumpily mumbled.
"What the fuck is wrong with you, dude!? Anyone could tell I eyed it first!" I snorted.
My friends laughed as they giggled, "Did Jhoanna really just cuss?"
"Oh yeah, she pretty much cuss whenever we see each other." Hans chided.
I glared at him, "Don't be too holy, you usually cuss at me too!"
"That is only because you cuss at me first! And I didn't usually do that! Only when I'm at my limit!"
"At my limit." I parroted. "Which is, everytime we see each other!"
"Could you just, behave for one second?"
"Excuse me? And who, pray, tell, just started to steal what I fancy?"
"I got it first!"
"I eyed at it first!"
"ENOUGH! Both of you! Geez. Here ma'am, I have another one of those." The seller grunted, narrowing his eyes at the both of us. Hans and I just quickly bought it and went our separate ways.
----
It was my eighteeth birthday. And of course, the Suits had to be there. That means that a certain Hans Martin would be there too. I wore a simple cocktail dress that hugs my bodice but not that sexy or else my dad and little bro wouldn't let me attend my own birthday.
A toast had been made and I danced with a couple of people, family and friends I know. Even danced with my best friend, Rio Crepsley. Which is the son of Beta Brian Crepsley of that annoying Hans' pack. He's of the same age as me and we had been classmates since young.
"You didn't fight with young master today." Rio chuckled.
I groaned. "Please don't jinx it!"
"You two are amazing really, how come you guys kept on fighting for thirteen years straight and never got tired of it?"
"I am tired of it!" I snorted. "But what can I do? It is like breathing for us to fight whenever we meet."
"Oh! Now I remember why you two didn't fight today.." Rio smirked as he twirled me around.
"Yeah?"
"Because you two hadn't seen each other yet." He chuckled as he passed me to my second cousin, Victor.
"Funny how I didn't hear some fighting today." Victor started as he grasped my hand to put it on his shoulder.
"Oh Goddess not you too."
The jerk just laughed at me. "Well, at least next year, you guys would be separated."
"Victor! Even if I'm a junior by that time, our buildings are pretty much twenty minutes away! Ten if one wolfs out!" I reasoned. "And if by some miracle and luck that we wouldn't really bump with each other that is only for a year."
"That's right." He grinned. "But at least savor the moments."
"Oh I'll savor every fleeting seconds!"
He laughed again as he gave my hand to Millan Williams.
"A strange phenoma." He wolfishly smiled.
"Why do all of you keep saying the same thing!?" I glared.
"The two of you are the only reason why our school year hadn't been boring. Both of you always find reasons to fight about."
"So you're saying, we are your entertainers? Clowns?"
"Exactly!" He chortled.
If this man ain't the heir of Nightstalkers I would really knock him out. For real. But since he is, I only punched his shoulder. Hard.
He let out an 'ouch' before giving me to his cousin. Nolan Evans.
"I bet Hans is mentally preparing something to fight with you today." He chided. Now this man really changed a lot. He used to be so timid but now he pretty much had half energy of his mother, Aunt Sandra and the charisma of his father, Uncle Noah.
I narrowed my eyes at him and if we aren't dancing I'm certain his hands are already up in the air as if he surrendered. I puffed my cheeks and exhaled, "I'm sure Uncle Ben or Aunt Harley is telling him to stay put at least for today."
Nolan grinned, "But would he?"
"Of course, he wouldn't." I grunted and now Nolan's passing me to Samuel.
"For the love of the Moon Goddess, don't say a word!" I warned. Even shot him death glares and he just shook his head in delight. "I only wish to say a happy birthday to my beautiful sister."
"Yeah right." I huffed. We talked about anything for a bit and thank God because no 'Hans' came from our mouths. But, that is only because Samuel planned something more than to merely tease me.
"Have fun with my gift, sis." He winked and I was about to ask him what the fuck is he planning but I felt someone tapped my back. When I turned around it was him. Hans..
Had to bite my tongue to stop my jaw from literally dropping. Who on earth would believe he's only sixteen years old!? He looks rather dashing with that simple semi-formal attire of his and his slick back hair.
"You look pretty today." He commented. Almost robot-like. We stared at each other for three whole seconds and I ended up bursting in laughter.
YES, LAUGHING.
For the first time in thirteen years of fighting with this man, I genuinely laughed in front of him. He looked away and laughed too.
"That was so unnatural!" I hollered, he shrugged and offered me his hand. When I accepted, Hans guided me to the dance floor once again as he honestly admitted, "Everyone keeps on telling me to at least for the love of every gods and goddesses, don't fight with you today."
"I can already see how much effort you put in." I giggled once I saw his jaw twitching and it looked like he grinded his teeth. Then I added, "Still, it is rather not healthy for both of us and it is quite weird not to fight."
He sighed, "For once, I agree with you."
We keep on dancing until our feet hurt. And we really didn't fight that night.
Only that night. As the next days, months and even a year, we resumed our routine. Until.. it was my senior year and they are already juniors.
"Are you excited for this school year, sis?" Samuel clearly asked on purpose.
"I would be if I weren't to miss some of my peaceful days."
There were some events wherein Hans and I didn't bump into each other but that would be quite impossible for next school year because..
"SAMUEL! Is this true!?" Mom overdramatically shrieked. To the point that Dad even came out of his office. "Why? What happened, my Luna?"
"Jacob! Look! Look! Juniors are allowed to stay in the seniors' dormitories!!!"
