Chapter 32 Wing woman
FLASHBACK (8 YEARS AGO)
At a corner of the library, a seventeen year old girl sat on a desk, deeply engrossed in the opened book in front of her.
Her long bright brown hair flowed down her face, fanning her sides. She placed her elbow on the desk, her palm supporting her head as she read without a care in the world.
It was peaceful... Quiet, just the way she liked it.
Well... That was until...
"The boys are out on the field..." A black haired girl about her age in the same uniform ran towards her, panting. From a glance it was obvious that she ran all the way there.
She grabbed Irene's hand, jolting the young girl, and forcing her to look at the other girl who had just arrived."Tori...?"
"Let's go watch!" The girl said, with a huge smile on her face after taking a few seconds to catch her breathe.
Irene frowned.
Seriously... They ruined her peace, for that?
She glared at the girl who disturbed her. "Why would I want to watch a group of teenage boys throw theirselves and a ball around on the field?" She asked dumbly, snatching her hand back from the other girl, her friend's grip.
"Come on Irene, don't be a spoil sport!" The girl names Tori pouted, stomping her feet on the floor.
But the pout on her lips didn't last for long, as they were replaced with a wide smile, and a dreamy look in her eyes. "Besides, Nelson and Miles are there. They are the star players." She said, interlocking her hands together while looking up.
Miles and Nelson were the most handsome guys in their class.
No. Not just their class, but the entire school!
Those two beauties were playing together... What would he more important than that?
With the smile still on her face, she looked at Irene. "I heard from someone that Miles took off his shirt during the last game. He might do it again for this one." Her voice sounding a bit too dramatic.
Irene face turned ugly, but Tori didn't care. She was already used to her friend's scowls anything Nelson was mentioned.
But this time, she needed her there.
Tori grabbed Irene's hand again and dragged it. "You got to come."
Irene shifted on the desk until she say upright, then she shook her head.
Tori just mentioned that Nelson would be there.
It was as though she said the devil would be home, yet she wanted to drag her to hell?
Nelson hadn't troubled her all day, why would she deliberately go to remind him?
"If you want to go so bad, go alone." She said adamantly, before successfully taking her hand back again. "Leave me here, alone... With my books."
Tori pressed her lips, and blinked. Then her eyes went to the opened book on the table.
She read just a line and immediately rolled her eyes. "If anyone should hear you say that, they would think that you're study when you're actually reading fantasy novels." She pointed out.
"They are books, aren't they?" Irene retorted, rolling her eyes back.
She wasn't a nerd, what would she be doing with a normal book? They weren't having any tests, and exams were months away.
Irene wanted to return back to her fantasy novels in peace, but Tori was determined to get her to follow her.
She closed the novel gaining Irene's attention. "What the..."
She clasped her hand together and blinked. "Irene please, I need a wing woman."
Wing woman? Irene wanted to scoff.
Both Miles and Nelson had dozens... Tons of women lined up ready for him to pick them, and they was just in junior year!
Most of the girls in senior year were also eying them... For reasons best known to them, because Irene couldn't see what was so special about Nelson.
But... There was no hope... No hope of getting with anyone of them!
It was a useless fantasy.
Before she could say any of that, Tori grabbed her hand again, but this time dragged her until she got up.
"I haven't eaten all morning, I don't..." Irene complained, but Tori just kept dragging her until she had moved away from the desk. "Get up. Come on."
Irene groaned.
She didn't want to go.
...
"Yeah! Go Miles!" Girls cheered at the top of their voice when Miles caught the ball.
Most of them were in groups, giggling snd chatting with themselves as they watched the field.
"Oh my goodness, did you see what he just did!" The group next to Irene shrieked pointing at Miles... An action which only got Irene angry.
"Arghhhhh!" She groaned, clearly frustrated as she watched the guys play. She was on the side of whichever team Nelson's wasn't on... Obviously. "I don't even understand this shit. What's the point? Just take the ball!" She yelled before rolling eyes.
This was why she didn't want to come here.
It would only get her riled up to watch Nelson's team win.
Tori chuckled beside her, she shoved her slightly with her elbows. "It's a game and it's fun."
Irene rolled her eyes. Before she respond, she felt a sudden pang in her head, and the next thing... Everything around her began to spin.
Tori noticed immediately and turned towards her. She stretched out her hand holding Irene's to support her. "What's wrong, Irene?" She asked, concern laced in her tone.
Irene grabbed her head which, shutting her eyes and opening it again to get clearer sight. "I feel dizzy..." She mumbled, shaking her head slightly.
Tori panicked.
She instantly remembered what Irene had said earlier about not eating anything.
She began to feel guilty for dragging her friend to the game. "Really, maybe you should..."
"Ahhh!" A loud shriek from the group of seniors behind them suddenly made her pause. "Did he just... Ahhh!" They yelled like the fan girls that they were.
"He is so hot!" Another one said, fanning her face with her hands as she stared at the kid younger than her by a year.
The third girl did the same, but her eyes were on someone else. "Please... Let Nelson take off his shirt too!"
