Chapter 61
Bella sent out April's dress an hour after April came for her last fitting, and no corrections were needed. After that, Bella called for a meeting. She thanked everyone who had worked hard on the project.
"There are going to be incentives and bonuses," she told them. "And a day off."
The workers clapped. That was good news for them.
She went on to encourage them before dismissing them. Bella returned to her office to clear up her table of any work, so she could go home and rest just like she promised Charlotte.
"Am I meeting with any clients or investors for the rest of this week?" She asked Audrey.
Audrey went through her schedule. "No, there isn't any. You already met with Mr Williams. Your next meeting with him is scheduled for next week."
"If there isn't any meeting, I won't be in the office for the next few days. Maybe two or three days, depending on when there is a new client. But until I return to the office, no documents should be sent to me. Send them to the manager. Before you book me any client, please let me know."
Audrey nodded. "Noted, ma'am."
Bella stood up. "I'm leaving. Until I return, keep my office closed. If anyone asks for me, tell them I'm on vacation, but will be returning soon." Audrey nodded. "You should also get some rest. We were both busy."
"Okay, ma'am," Audrey said.
Bella took her bag and left the office. When she got to her car, she called Charlotte.
"I'm heading home. I took a break as I promised."
"I'm glad to hear that," Charlotte answered. "I know you're going to be bored. So I'll come over tomorrow. We can go pick Liam up from his day care together. I'll inform his grandma."
Bella smiled. "I would love that. I've missed him."
"I know you have. I'm sure he misses you too."
Bella nodded. "I should head home. I will call you later."
"Take care of yourself," Charlotte said.
"I will. Thank you."
"Bye."
Bella ended the call and then started the car. She drove out of the compound, heading home. She stopped by a restaurant to get something to eat. She had decided to give herself a treat for a job well done.
She got herself some delicious food and then drove home. Bella took her bath, changed into something nice, and then set the table. She put on candles, switched on blue and red lights, and then sat down to eat.
When she was done, she poured out the popcorn she bought into a bowl, took a cup of ice cream she bought, and then sat down to watch one of her favorite movies.
Bella fell asleep watching it, and when she opened her eyes, it was already midnight. Not feeling sleepy anymore, she decided to check her phone for any messages she must have missed.
There were a few messages from Daniel; he used a new number but introduced himself in one of his messages.
Bella read his messages and burst into laughter.
It was his usual tactic of trying to make her take him back, but this time he seemed to have learnt new lines.
Bella took screenshots of all the messages after reading them, and then blocked his number.
She checked for other messages, but there were none. Bella opened Jordan's last message; his apology message.
He hasn't sent her any new messages. He also didn't try to call her in the last few days.
Why did he call Jade to ask after her? What is he trying to do?
She shrugged off the thought and went back to sleep. At exactly six, she was up again. Bella took her bath and was already getting dressed for work when she remembered she had taken a break.
She chuckled. This is going to be a long break for her, even though it's for a few days.
She got dressed in a casual shirt and trousers and then went to the kitchen to get something to eat. Eleana was in the kitchen cleaning.
"No work today, ma'am?" She asked when she saw her.
"I decided to take a few days off," Bella answered.
"That's good news," Eleana said. "It's been a while since you did that. I've been worried about you getting sick. I'm glad you're taking a break."
Bella smiled. "Thank you. What are we going to have for breakfast?"
"I wanted to make your usual omelette and tea because I thought you were going to work, but I will make something better."
Bella nodded. "Please do. Charlotte is coming over, but I don't know when. I will call her to confirm and also ask what she would want to eat."
Eleana nodded. "I will be done with cleaning the kitchen soon. I will make your breakfast after that, or do you want me to..."
Bella smiled. "Don't worry about me. Just do your thing. I'll be in the living room waiting."
"Okay, ma'am," Eleana said.
Bella returned to the living room and sat down. She called Charlotte. "When are you coming over?"
"I should be at your place by ten," she replied.
"What would you like to eat so Eleana can prepare it?"
Charlotte told Bella what she wanted. "She can prepare them when I come."
"Okay, send my regards to Melvin."
"I will," Charlotte said.
Bella dropped her phone on the table after the call ended and then went on to watch a movie. Eleana brought her breakfast an hour later. Bella told Eleana what Charlotte wanted to eat.
"You don't have to prepare it now. She wants you to do that when she comes."
Eleana took note of them and then went back to the kitchen. When Bella was done eating, she took the plates to the kitchen. She didn't return to watch any movie. She left the house and went to sit in the garden with her phone in her hand.
Bella was bored and could not wait for Charlotte to show up. She was used to being busy and having people around her; now she felt neglected.
Bella checked her phone; it was still a few minutes before ten. She wondered if Charlotte was already on her way.
She decided to call Mia, but she didn't pick up.
Maybe she's still asleep. She thought. Or maybe she's busy.
She called Jade instead. Jade picked up after a few rings. Bella thanked her for her hard work in the last two days.
"I should be thanking you," Jade said. "I learned a lot of things for free. Thank you."
Bella smiled. "I'm glad you learned something."
"Can I ask you a question?" Jade said.
"Sure you can," Bella answered.
"Did you have a falling out with my brother? He has been in a bad mood for the last two days. If you're not, I'm wondering if you know what is wrong with him."
"I..."
"Jade?" Bella heard Jordan's voice.
"I have to go," Jade said. "My brother can't find out that I asked you this question. He asked me not to. Goodbye.
Bella furrowed her brows. Why is he in a bad mood?
