Chapter 34
The interior designing of the new power company was almost done. While Christiana worked, she never for once saw Andrew as all he did was pass information across. She wanted him to stay away but now that he was staying away, she didn't like it.
The project was just for two weeks, Andrew stayed away from Christiana even though it hurts him. He wanted her close, he only visited his son and made sure he did not come across her while he went to pick up Drew.
He only sends her a message telling her he was safe. It pains Andrew knowing she had moved on, it also pained him that he couldn't move on. He wanted to find out who the guy was and punch him, he wanted to kill him, but he also wanted to respect her decision.
He needed to see how the design of the company was going, he knew no matter how he tried to avoid her, he must see her to get things done.
Christiana reached home at exactly fifteen minutes past eight, Drew was drawing on a drawing book on the table in the living. She was curious to see what he was drawing, so she sneaked towards him. She was shocked seeing that at his age he could draw well but what shocked her most was what he painted.
It was Andrew, she and him holding hands, she wept seeing it. She also wished she was married to Andrew, and they could spend time with their son, it made her realize how much was taken from her life.
As a young lady, she always had dreams, she had big ones for that matter. She would imagine herself with her future husband and their kids living happily. When Andrew came into her life, her imaginary husband's face was replaced with his and she lived in her fantasy until the realistic dawn to her.
Being a single parent was hard, she tried her best to have enough time for her son and till date she has done perfectly well even with all the difficulty.
"Mom," Drew called out when he heard her sniffle, he turned back to look at her. "Good evening," he greeted. She wiped the tears from her eyes, and she wrapped her arms around him.
"When did you come back?" He asked her.
"Just now, have you eaten?" She asked him.
He nods his head, "Uncle John ordered pizza."
"Ohh," she looked at the drawing again, and she looked at Drew, his eyes held disappointment in them.
"Why did you draw this, Drew?" She asked.
"Why doesn't daddy stay with us?" He retorted. Drew had always been sharp and intelligent for his age.
The question Drew Christiana aback as her heart sank at the draining question. She knew with time questions like this would be asked and she was never prepared for it. Suddenly the doorbell jingles, giving her the perfect excuse to avoid the question.
She walked to open the door, only to see a man in Black with his face covered revealing only his eyes, before she could say anything, he placed a handkerchief on her nose, making her faint as he slowly put her on his shoulder taking her away.
Emerald got the news that Christiana has successfully been kidnapped and taken to the warehouse. Emerald arrived at Sydney, Australia two days ago with the sole aim of finally eradicating Christiana.
She made her men follow Christiana secretly for the main time until she arrived. She got down of her Jeep as she made her way to the warehouse isolated in a secluded area in Sydney. She held onto her bulky blue gown before using her left hand to hold the man's hands as he led her into the warehouse.
She took slow steps as she walked with the man. Her doctor had advised her to stop putting on heels, but she wasn't one to heed to advice so easily.
Christiana couldn't see anything, she was scared and terrified, her eyes were blindfolded; she heard nothing and saw nothing. She began to worry for her son Drew, who could have kidnapped her.
Suddenly she heard a loud bang that made her flinch, her legs were tied with a rope and so was her wrist. She began to have all kinds of scary thoughts that she couldn't help but ponder.
Emerald smirked seeing Christiana in a helpless situation. She thought she had gone for good, but the girl wouldn't stop lurking and go find someone of her class. She planned on ending Christiana for good now since Christiana refused to heed to warnings.
"Unbind her," Emerald ordered. Christiana thought the voice sounded familiar—no, it couldn’t be. She finally opened her eyes only to be welcomed by Emerald.
She gasped! She looked around to find the warehouse empty and big, no windows or anything, no wonder she was sweating finding it hard to breathe. She was going to meet her end today she thought.
"Well, well, well," Emerald clapped with every word she spat out. "I thought you were wise to run away but it seems you didn't. Five years ago, you almost died..." Emerald trailed off walking closer to her.
Christiana's heart began to pound in fear, she was really going to die, her son Drew was also in danger, her father, how did Emerald find her, she thought.
She knew anything that'd make her see Andrew, it would surely let Emerald find her too, she began to cry.
"You will really die," Emerald whispered in her ear, sending fear to Christiana.
"Please...please don't do this," she begged, trying to reason with her. "I stayed away, I...I..." She stuttered. "Please don't...do not kill me."
Emerald laughed hoarsely, not caring about her plea, if Andrew won't stay away, she'd make Christiana stay away for eternity. "I don't warn twice but I warned you numerous times, and I'm sorry, you must die for me to be at ease." Emerald spat out.
"You are not of the same status as me. You are far beneath me; you are nothing but a peasant! You are so stubborn that you wouldn't let go of my son so I will end things before they get messy." Emerald stated firmly.
Christiana's stomach churned, she found it hard to believe that a woman who had a child would think of killing another. She felt ashamed for Emerald, she wondered how a woman as devious as her would give birth to an amazing son like Andrew.
"You are wicked, and you call yourself a mother? You are not a woman after all but a thing and an object in the form of a human being," Christiana spat out with tears and pain. How could a witch like her give birth to a good heart like Andrew?
The words Christiana spat out pained Emerald as she raised her hand and slapped Christiana with the back of her palm. "Bitch!" She muttered.
"How dare you! You insolent—" Emerald slapped her again right across the cheek.
"You will hate the day you meet me. You will curse the day you came alive!" Emerald spat out slapping Christiana with her both hands.
"I wonder why I am using my hand to touch a peasant like you. What a stinking human being you are. You are a prostitute! A gold digger! A bitch with no morals nor manners! I will kill you!"
Christiana cried; her cheek hurt from the many slaps she received from Emerald. She felt air being restricted in her lungs, she was finding it hard to breathe, but she hoped her death would bring peace to everyone.
She prayed that her father and her son would be safe.
