Chapter 174
Chapter 174
Allie:
“You can’t wear that!” Jess roared, ripping the dress from my hands. “It’s way too spring formal, come on. This one!” She held up a tight white gown.
“Let me try it on,” I grabbed it from her, holding up the strapless cream silk.
“Oh, that will look stunning on you!” She bounced on her feet as she motioned for an attendant to get us a fitting room.
It had been a whirlwind since Green had woken up. He hadn’t even waited until morning, demanding we head home instantly. I didn’t argue staying in his arms the whole way back. Jeremy and blue whining about our “sucking face” the whole way.
I rolled my eyes as I remembered their bitching. They could complain all they wanted. Green was awake, and he was mine.
No more monsters lurking in the shadows. The big bad wolf was dead. I admired the dress in the mirror as the attendant found me a fitting room.
I stepped into the gown, feeling it hug my every curve. It wasn’t beaded anywhere, just a beautiful silk that covered me like a second skin. I turned in the mirror, it had a cowl back, but that was the only unique thing about and still… I felt radiant.
I stepped out as Jess was sipping on some champagne. She swallowed her drink and dropped her jaw.
“Oh, that’s it! That’s the one,” she squealed, jumping up and down. “Oh, my god. You look amazing!” She declared.
I looked in the mirror and turned around. I felt stunning. “Don’t you think it’s a little much?” I turned back to her. “I don’t wanna distract from the bride,”
“Don’t you dare! Like anybody is gonna say anything! If you don’t buy that dress, I’ll just come back and get it myself,” she barked.
I chuckled, turning back to the mirror. It was true, it was a gorgeous dress. I decided it would be all right to indulge a little bit. Green had told Jess and me to get whatever we wanted and put it on his card. I should have warned him that Jes might take advantage of that as she grabbed a fully beaded gown off the rack.
I shook my head at her as she held it up, turning her head, debating the dress.
“How about this one?” I asked her, holding up a V-neck, floor-length gown that was backless and fitted.
“Oooh! Yes!” She grabbed the dress as she hurried towards the changing room, appearing a moment later.
She joined me in front of the mirror, her boobs almost popping out of her show-stopping ensemble.
“If this does get Charlie’s tail wagging, I don’t know what will,” she grinned, admiring herself in the mirror.
It was odd for me to hear that at wolf binding ceremonies, everyone besides the couple wore white. It was supposed to symbolize the goddess’s light and influence.
“Ooooh, we’re are gonna be the best damn looking girls there!” She squealed.
“I don’t know, Maggie is pretty beautiful, and the bride,” I reminded Jess.
Though we looked pretty good, I knew that Southern Belle wasn’t going to be outdone on her own day. I had no doubt she had a beautiful dress already picked out.
Apparently, the couple was supposed to wear the colors of their pack. For Maggie, they were purple and gold. I knew she’d pick gold to complement her hair and her green eyes.
I checked my phone, tapping my sister. “We should head back, we’re gonna be late,” I informed her and hurried to pay for our dresses.
Blue had proposed the moment we’d returned to the pack, and I couldn’t be happier. With one enemy out of the way, we needed to celebrate, and watching my new brother marry his mate was a great excuse.
“Don’t you think it should be you and Green tying the knot?” Jess wiggled her brows as we sat in the car on the way back.
“We will eventually, but I want to until the whole Civil War thing comes to an end. This isn’t over yet, you know,” I pointed out.
She only wrinkled her nose in response.
“Yeah, yeah, corrupt government we have to overthrow. Come on, jump his bones already!” She teased, pushing me lightly.
I laughed heartily at her teasing. I quirked an eyebrow. “What about you? No Englishman getting down on one knee anytime soon?”
She went bright red. “You know we’re taking our time,” she blushed.
It serves her right to tease me about my sex life. I knew she was far more vulnerable when it came to commitment than she let on, so I had to poke some fun at her and her situationship.
“Okay, retract the claws. I’ll leave you and Green alone,” she relented. “Even if you should totally hit that,” she japed, sticking out her tongue.
We made it back to the pack with just enough time to start primping and preening. I curled my hair and pinned the rolls into place while I put on my makeup.
I watched from the window as banners and streamers adorned the courtyard. Rows and rows of flowers filled the area. Garlands hanging from trees and gold, blue, and purple fabrics draped around the yard.
“WOW,” Jess gasped as he saw the finishing touches being put on.
A beautiful golden arch stood in front of the ceremony site. Flowers hanging down its woven golden branches.
Green had told me that it was used in every binding ceremony that had ever been done in his pack. It would one day be used in ours. I stopped what I was doing to look at the metal glistening in the setting sun and pictured myself standing before Green underneath it in the moonlight.
“Hey, come on! Paint your face, the sun's going down!” Jess ordered me as I was pulled from my daydream.
I put my dress on and pulled the pins out of my hair, letting the curls drop down in that old Hollywood style I was going for.
“You’re trying to kill me,” I heard him say behind me. I spun on my heel to see him in a cream suit and shirt. He looked just as delectable.
Maybe Blue would understand it if his best man were a little late?
Green came over to me, pulling me to him in that hungry way he did when he was losing a fight against his desires. He kissed me hard, owning my lips with every press of his.
“You look stunning if it isn’t obvious,” he whispered in my ear, making me shiver.
“Pull yourself together,” I hit him lightly on the shoulder.
“You first,” he raised his eyebrows at me, making me blush.
“Get a room!” Jess scoffed, and I turned away from my sister. I had totally forgotten she was there.
“Uh, hello, I’m getting married, come on!” Blue burst into the room in a crisp blue suit and white shirt. “Ladies, you look lovely, but my bride is ready, and we’re not down there, let's move, move, move,” he hurried us out of the room.
“Where’s Charlie?” Jess ran out of the room and straight into the man she was looking for.
“Hi there,” he remarked, holding her by her waist. “You know it’s a bit rude to outshine the bride,” I heard him whisper.
Blue must have too because he let out a snide laugh. “Please, as if anybody could be more beautiful than Maggie,”
