Chapter Seventy-eight

Chapter Seventy-eight
"Georgia! Georgia! Wake up!"
I opened my eyes and saw Harry's face in front of me. He's still alive and smiling charmingly. Am I just dreaming? Or was that just a dream? I reached out to touch his face and felt his soft skin on my palm. He's real. I wrapped my arms around him.
"Harry..." Tears stream down my eyes. "Thank God you're alive! I thought you and our little boy were... Where's Kaya, by the way?"
"He's with Vivian, doing his homework," Harry replied. "I'm sorry if I made you worried, Georgia. But remember my promise? I'll never leave you no matter what happens. Thanks to the help of the police, we've caught those kidnappers and saved our son and Vivian. It turns out that he was also that mysterious man who'd been scaring us."
Joy and relief washed all over me. I could never take it if my husband and little boy were gone. I'm so grateful that everything was just a dream. A very bad one. I have fallen asleep while waiting for them to come back, and because I've been thinking of a lot of worse possible scenarios, I had a nightmare.
"It's okay now, Georgia. No one can hurt you and Kaya anymore. Those bad guys have been sent to jail. They won't bother us anymore," Harry said.
I let go of Harry and looked into his blue eyes. Using his thumb, he wiped the tears from my face. Then we kissed so passionately. His hand was behind me as he pulled me close. I miss him so much, as if we've not seen each other for a very long time.
"Ahm!"
Harry and I stopped kissing and looked at Vivian, who had faked a cough to get our attention.
"I'm sorry for interrupting, but Kaya's hungry, and he wants to eat his favorite pasta," Vivian said.
Harry stood up, and I did also. "Are you hungry, little boy?" Harry asked, and Kaya nodded. "Come, let's have breakfast."
Harry carried our son as we went to the kitchen together. Vivian, Harry, and I helped prepare the spaghetti and garlic bread while Kaya sat on his favorite chair, behaving. A few moments later, we sat around the table and had breakfast.
"Um, Vivian, why won't you take a day off today?" I suggested.
"Huh? Why? Did I do something wrong?" Vivian asked. "Or is it about what happened—"
"Nope. You didn't do anything. We just thought that you might need some time with yourself, you know, to relax. Also, let's not discuss what happened again. Let's just forget it," I said.
"Uh, okay. Thanks," Vivian replied.
"And I'm sorry about what they did to you," Harry added. "Those guys shouldn't have touched you. It was our fault that you have to go through that."
"I'm fine, sir. You don't have to apologize, as you didn't do anything wrong. Those guys are jailed now. As what Ma'am Georgia said, let's just forget what happened," Vivian said.
"Thanks for understanding," Harry said.
After breakfast, Harry, Kaya, and I swam at the swimming pool together. We had so much fun there like little kids. It brings back a lot of memories, especially that time when Harry taught me how to swim. After bathing, we prepared to bring Kaya to his school. When we were ready, we got into Harry's car.
"Are you ready to learn something new today, Kaya?" I asked.
"I'm always ready, Mommy," Kaya replied.
"Alright then. Let's go!"
Harry started driving, while Kaya and I sang a song called "Are We There Yet?" When I was young, I used to sing the same song with my mother and siblings. A few moments later, the car stopped and we stepped out.
"Bye, Mommy," Kaya said, giving me a kiss. "Bye, Dad."
We watched our little boy greet the guard at the gate before entering. He's such an angel. I leaned on Harry's shoulder, his hand on my side as we watched Kaya.
"I wish he'd have a normal life," I said.
"Why won't we move somewhere, Georgia?" Harry suggested.
"What do you mean, move somewhere?"
"You know, our son must have trauma after what happened. Maybe moving to another country would be great," he said.
"Like Japan?" I asked.
"That's a wonderful place, with snow and peace."
"What about our businesses here?"
"We can leave them to our assistants. What's more important is our son's safety. I don't want him to grow up fearing everyone around."
I understand where Harry's coming from. We have good and bad memories in this city, and maybe it's time to move away, to start again and make new memories, so I agreed with him.
A month later, the three of us moved to our new house in Japan, leaving everything behind us, including Vivian. She was crying when we got separated. She finally came back to her children. We'd surely miss her.
Our new house is way bigger than I anticipated. No wonder why it took us a while before we finally moved in. It's like a palace in Japanese style. There are cherry blossoms outside, and their flowers are blooming. It smells nice and calming. It's spring season, and just like the plants and flowers, we are starting again.
"Okaerinasai, my dear," Harry said, standing at the staircase to meet me.
"This place looks huge. How much did it cost you?" I asked.
"The cost doesn't matter, my dear. What matters is that you're comfortable and safe. Come, I'll show you around," Harry replied.
We went inside the living room. It's spacious and looks nice. There are pots of leafy plants beside the glass windows and long, hanging blue curtains. This new environment feels relaxing. We lay our luggage on the floor near the white-upholstered couches before looking around.
"Is this our new house?" Kaya asked, holding my hand.
"Yes, darling. This is our new house. We're living here from now on with your father," I replied.
"And you're going to attend a Japanese school; isn't that what you like?" Harry asked, his hands in the pocket of his black pants.
"Thanks, Mom and Dad," Kaya replied.
