Chapter Sixty-five

Chapter Sixty-five
I picked up my glass of wine and sat on Harry's lap. I felt his hand caressing my arm on the side, comforting me, making me feel a little warmer. We stayed there for a while, until I asked him if he wanted to watch a movie. He nodded, so I stood up and turned the TV on.

We watched a horror movie and tangled up on the couch. How I wish I could stay like this forever. I don't want to think about my problem, but that's not how life works. Only dead men don't have problems; even billionaires are facing problems daily. What matters the most is how we deal with them.

"Oh, right." Harry stood up and stretched a little bit. "I have to do some work, Georgia. Will you be fine here?"

"Yeah, you can do your thing." I smiled.

Harry left me alone in the living room. The movie gets more serious and bloody. There's a mysterious man stalking the couple who are the main characters and had murdered one of them. It's just too scary to watch it alone, so I stood up and turned it off. I'd rather play some instruments to ease my mind.

I went to the music room, sat on the chair beside the window with my guitar, and opened the tutorial book. I practiced transitioning my fingers with different chords, as Matt advised me before.

The notes are a bit off, so I picked up the tuner to tune the strings. Then I continued practicing until my fingers ached. The harmonic melody eased my restless mind so much that I've fallen asleep with my arms on the window and the guitar on my lap.

"Georgia, wake up," Harry said, shaking my arm.

I opened my eyes. It's already dark outside. I can see the crescent moon and stars twinkling in the skies and hear the choir of crickets. I wiped my face with the palms of my hands, stood up, and faced Harry. "What time is it?" I asked.

"It's already 6:30," he said, putting my guitar on the table. "I've been looking for you everywhere; I didn't expect to find you here sleeping with your guitar."

"I'm sorry, I just felt so tired," I said.

"It's okay, just don't do it again. It's not good to sleep with the cold wind rushing from the open window. Come on, let's grab something to eat for dinner. Also, it's cold outside, so you better wear something thick," he advised.

"Got it," I said, feeling a little uncomfortable that he's so concerned with everything.

Harry put one arm on my side, and we walked side by side together. I went to our room, opened the closet, and picked my beige cardigan to cover my sleeveless top while Harry was waiting outside. I combed my hair, tied it together, and smiled at the mirror. Obviously, I looked like I just woke up, which is true.

"Georgia, hurry up please, I'm starving," Harry said.

"I'm coming!" I immediately went outside.

Harry's wearing his fur-lined black winter jacket and dark jeans. He looks so tall. We went for a walk outside. It's indeed a cold night, though it's not snowing. We're in a tropical country, so it never snows in this place, not even on Christmas. It's one of my dreams to see snow with my very own eyes, touch it, and build snowmen, but I have to postpone that dream for now, as Harry and I will get busy preparing for our wedding.

The Christmas lights were flickering on the street sides; some were hung in the trees. Some people were singing Christmas songs; others were laughing heartily. I felt a little jealous of them. Though I'm living a very good life, there are things that make me feel sad, such as my father's inevitable death. It's like counting the remaining days of his life. I should pay him a visit more often, to at least be there before he's completely gone.

Harry and I continued to the restaurant. It's cozy inside. There were Christmas lights, a Christmas tree with boxes of gifts under it, and a soft Christmas song was playing in the background. We settled at the empty table, and a waitress approached us.

Harry ordered some pork meat for dinner as well as wine. He had told me not to eat unhealthy food and drink alcoholic beverages, but here he is, making me eat and drink them. He even told me to eat a lot andnot hold myself back.

"I'm pregnant, Harry. I'm not supposed to eat unhealthy foods," I reminded him gently.

"Oh! I completely forgot. I'm sorry. Please forgive my carelessness. I didn't think about our child," he said.

"It's okay. I'll just have salad and water instead," I replied. "I drank a lot of wine earlier. It's not okay for our baby."

A wide smile appeared on Harry's face. "You'll indeed be a very good mother, Georgia. I can see that. I'm glad you're the one I chose."

Truthfully, I'm more grateful that Harry chose me despite all those gorgeous women out there who are head over heels for him. Sometimes I wonder if this is real or just another dream. I still couldn't believe that a poor, uneducated girl like me, who made his life miserable, is going to be married to him soon.

After dinner, Harry paid for the food at the counter. Then, we took a walk back home. We were holding each other's hands. Harry stopped under the lamppost back on Sixth Street. I asked him what's wrong, but he didn't say anything.

"Can I kiss you?" He asked.

I was surprised by his question. "Oh, come on. You don't have to ask me that." I smiled and blushed.

Harry held my face with both hands and brought his mouth into mine. He kissed me hard, with so much passion, that I almost lost my breath. But he suddenly stopped and looked around.

"Harry, what's wrong?" I asked, confused.

"Nope, nothing," he replied immediately, looking at me again. He held my hand. "We should probably go home. I don't feel safe here. Maybe I'm just tired."

"Me too. I'm tired," I said.

We hurriedly went back home, walking so fast that we were almost running at speed. When we entered the living room, Harry made sure that the door was locked. We were both panting.

I don't know what's wrong, but Harry's seemingly anxious. I sat on the couch while he paced back and forth on the floor in front of me. "Harry, come on, just sit down, please; you're making me dizzy."

"I'm sorry." He finally settled down. We are both silent on the couch. Then he broke that silence by saying, "I couldn't be mistaken. I felt like someone was watching us," while looking at me worriedly.

"It's okay. That's a public place, so we couldn't be alone there. It's normal for other people to stare at others," I said, touching the back of his hand.

"I don't think that was normal," he said, looking down at my hand. "It feels like a threatening glare, as if someone wants to commit murder..."

"Please calm down, Harry. You're making me nervous."

"I'm sorry." He hugged me. "I shouldn't have frightened you like that."

"It's okay. You're just reacting to how you feel, and there's nothing wrong with being cautious. There are a lot of bad people outside, especially thieves; they might be after money. Some are even willing to go that far just to get the money, but of course they wouldn't do that unless they were so desperate," I said while caressing Harry's back.

"Right. Maybe it's those thieves." He let me go and stood up. "We should get to bed instead. Maybe I'm just tired."

"Better." I stood up, and we went to bed together.

Honestly, I also felt like someone was watching over us at that lamppost, but I didn't pay too much attention to it. There are a lot of bad people outside. We have been through a bad experience before. We have learned our lesson. We won't let that happen again. I closed my eyes and tried to get some rest.
