Chapter 78 Undercover Agent {4}

Chapter 78 Undercover Agent {4}
Jacqueline's pov

The drive Downtown had been silent, and I was grateful for it. Ramsey was careful to pull out the bags of cash and we started towards the warehouse.

Two figures stood on the drive way by the warehouse, they wore dark shades from their appearances.

"Jacqueline?"

My body froze. Even with my disguise, I was still recognizable.

Ramsey snapped his eyes towards me and back at the middleman who had called my name. He was spiked-haired amongst the three men with a heavy beard.

It was unethical to have our suppliers know us by our names. I jerked my head up to meet the familiar eyes of my once ex-boyfriend and my heart began to race.

Memories of how we broke up four years back broke through me. I hadn't seen Marcus whenever I usually accompany Bruno Downtown, why then was Marcus' face popping out of nowhere?

But I had to feign not recognizing him instead, "Are the supplies in stock?" I asked the men in front of me.

One of them unzipped the two massive bags in front of us, kilograms of wrapped cocaine were neatly stacked in the bags.

Was this why Alexandro had asked me to pick up the supplies? He suspected me to be an agent. Why the hell did I mention to him about some brother of mine who was some known activist?

We confirmed the packages, exchanged them with our monies, and shook our hands.

Marcus held on to my hand tightly still. "Jacqueline, I know it's you," he intoned.

"You must have me mistaken for somebody else," I wrenched my hand amicably from his grip.

Ramsey squinted his eyes at me briefly as we spun around. "What's he talking about?" He whispered to me.

"I don't know what he's talking about." Sweat broke out on my brows, but I tried to sound casual.

Someone grabbed my arm behind me, which automatically prompted Ramsey to pull out his gun from within his jacket and direct it at the person grabbing me.

"Hey, hey, I meant no harm," Marcus shot his hands up.

"We don't owe you shit, what is this?" Ramsey's eyes bounced on both of us.

"Calm down, I think he needs to confirm a thing. You can go on without me, I'll catch up with you," I put in smoothly hoping Ramsey would oblige.

Ramsey hesitated, nodded after a while then retrieved the other bag from me. Then he started towards the car whilst overlooking his back every now and then.

I grabbed Marcus' arm and pulled him to a corner. "Speak," I bared my teeth at him.

Marcus' lips stretched out in a wide smile, then he tried to cup my face.

"Don't you dare," I warned him.

How was he able to recognize me in all of my disguises? I needed to know.

"How could you tell it was me?" I asked him, trying to detect if Ramsey was inside the car already.

"How could I not know it is you? We've been fucking for how long, and I still wouldn't know your eyes and the way you naturally smell," he smirked at me.

My stomach tightened, I hated to be reminded of the time I'd spent with this hooligan. He never appreciated me, and he never saw anything good in me. How had I ended up falling for someone like him?

"Don't tell me you work as the agent you've always dreamt of becoming. Alexandro will kill you," his eyes sparkled.

"Well, I did become one for your information. And you and me - we never met," I spun around.

"Good, because Alexandro would bless the day I reveal this news to him," Marcus said behind me.

My stomach rumbled, tightening like a piece of clothe being wrung. My head snapped to him. "You wouldn't do anything," I told him.

Marcus had a sneer on his face even as I walked away. Despite my clammy hands, I tried to think swiftly. I'd known what Marcus was capable of and I knew what he was bound to do.

I needed help, I needed to reach out to Damian or better still Maurice. If Marcus did give me up, I was doomed and no one would be able to save me from Alexandro.

I opened the side door of the Range Rover and climbed in beside Ramsey.

"Has it been confirmed?" Ramsey turned his green eyes at me.

"What?"

"You said he needed to confirm something....,"

I began to nod, "Yes, yes, yes, it has been confirmed." I tried a weak smile.

Ramsey's lips downturned as he watched me intently. "Do you know him?"

The question threw me off balance. "What?"

"He spoke like he knew you, calling you a name .... What's the name again?"

"I do not fucking know him, so can you fucking drive?" I growled, slapping a fist to the windscreen.

Ramsey's eyes bugged. "Okay, I will drive," he gave up finally.

But I couldn't stop my thudding heartbeat, I turned my head away to the road whilst avoiding Ramsey's side looks.

When we finally got to the mansion, I didn't bother helping Ramsey out with the supplies. Ramsey had a baffling expression even as I waved him off while he called out to me. I needed to find a safe place to call Maurice.

"Suarez, Boss asked to see you," Bruno stopped me as I wanted to go up the stairs.

Boss? The word reminded me of awaiting trouble. Had Marcus called Alexandro so quickly? No, it couldn't be. This wasn't happening.

"Suarez?" Bruno called.

I snapped out of my thoughts, shaking my head. "Yeah, I heard you, I... I'll just go up to his office."

Bruno pressed a hand against my chest, my hand automatically pushed his hand rudely from my breasts.

Bruno's eyes snapped, obviously in need of an explanation for my rude act.

"I'm sorry, I will just go up to his ....," my eyes darted sharply to the stairs.

What was wrong with me?

I was edgy and I needed to remain calm - and not reveal to them that something was wrong with me.

"He's not in his office. He's in the swimming pool," Bruno said.

I nodded and made my way to the pool area. As I walked, I caught a glimpse of Ramsey whispering something to Bruno. Ramsey's eyes flicked up, and our gaze met for a brief moment.
