Chapter 79 The Undercover Agent {5}
My heels clicked against the marble floor as I walked through the corridors and memories drifted into me.
Marcus and I had met when I needed a place to stay, I was processing my admission into the agency four years ago in Detroit.
My best friend, Lori who I didn't know was secretly fighting cancer had introduced me to Marcus. Marcus was sweet at the time we'd met, and since we lived as roommates in his house - we gradually fell in love.
But Marcus had secrets, he knew about my dream about being a secret agent and he taunted and mocked me occasionally for it.
Unbeknownst to me, he was hiding the fact that he was a chief leader of a gangster group Downtown. When I discovered it, I threatened to expose him to the authorities and he laughed me off and beat me to a pulp.
That was a day I would never forget. I managed to escape that night back to Lori's apartment, only to discover by her landlady that Lori had passed on two weeks back. I have never remained the same ever since then.
The LED par lights illuminating the swimming room broke into my reverie and it brought me back to reality. The rays of the lights flashed across the blue pool, Alexandro's arms stretched out at the base of the swimming pool, sipping red wine.
"I'm here, boss," I announced, stopping farther by the edge of the pool.
I was nervous, had Marcus called Alexandro? Probably not.
"I see you're back so soon," he dropped the wine glass in his hand on the marbled floor close to his head while his gaze raked the size of me.
"Yes, boss. The supplies have been handed over to Bruno," I quipped, hoping he would dismiss me.
I stood still, looked around me then back at him.
"You didn't have any altercations while on the task?" He pursed his lips.
He looked remarkably handsome while in the pool, his hair was damp but as he reached for his glass of wine, I was able to catch sight of the curls on his broad chest.
"No, boss. Everything went smooth," I tried a nervous smile.
Somehow, from the expression on his face, I was able to believe that Marcus hadn't reached out to Alexandro. To get close to Alexandro for someone as powerful as he was, one needed to be more than an acquittance or business partner.
Marcus had only intended to pull my legs, I thought.
"Join me then."
I jerked my bowed head up instantly. "In the pool?" I had to ask.
"Why not?" His dark gaze peered over me.
That would be a total disaster, my head told me. The waters would make my clothes cling to my body, and it would probably give me away - exposing my cover.
And what would I be doing with Alexandro while in the pool? Was he slightly interested in me?
I hesitated, thinking of a lie. "I'm a terrible swimmer, boss," I spilled.
His lips quirked up, "that's not a problem, I'll guide you. You can take off your clothes while at it." He urged.
Take off my clothes?
Another problem.
What was his problem?
Why was he so bent on having me by his side always?
"Boss.. I can't take off m..y c..clothes." I stuttered.
"Get in the pool, Suarez," he commanded.
Shouldn't I use this to my advantage instead of holding back? I had learned never to argue with the mafia lord, but he was letting me off the hook just this once. I shouldn't disappoint him. I'll just be careful not to get too close to him.
I climbed down the stairs leading to the pool and dipped myself slowly into the pool. Alexandro was watching me intently with his dark eyes.
"Come closer," he commanded.
My heart began to hammer. He meant it when he said he wanted me in the pool with him. But I told him that I couldn't swim, I would have to fake it then.
Frantically, I tried to flap my arms but instinctively allowed the waters to start to swallow me up as I started swimming towards him. Two strong arms wrapped around me and pulled me up to the surface.
My closed eyes opened as I began to gasp for air. I could smell him as he hugged my body to his body.
"Breathe," he said to my face.
My eyes peered up at his dark eyes, he was breathtaking from an up close view. He was making butterflies flutter in the depths of my stomach.
My chest melded into his chest, could he feel the softness of my breasts? I hope not. And to push him away would probably infuriate him.
Alexandro was smitten by me. I tried to breathe even though I was breathless.
"Hold on to me," he urged, clasping my arms around his waist while he started to swim.
I did as he said, then he started to swim towards the base of the pool where his wine bottle sat by the pool.
That was when I noticed two wine glasses for the first time. "What are you celebrating?" I managed to ask him once he let me go.
I could barely think and he made it worse by caging me in.
"I don't think I should be letting you in on that," he mused, doing that thing with his lips again.
I tried a weak smile. Great, he didn't want to let me in on that but here he was - having a me and you time in the pool.
"I kept thinking of the time you swallowed up that drink," he said reaching behind me to get the wine bottle and the glass.
"Hold on to me so you won't slip," he cautioned.
My hands clung to him tightly. I was surprised at the tone of his voice, I'd never seen him so warm towards anyone - not even to me.
He nudged me into taking the wine glass from his outstretched hand. I hesitated, looking into his eyes.
"It isn't poisoned," he had a devilish grin plastered on his face.
I downed all content at a go. I was uncomfortable, I needed to leave the pool and I just didn't understand why Alexandro decided to have me in the pool with him - in all places.
His eyes bulged slightly, placed the glass behind me which he retrieved from me.
"For a man like you, you give hints of being a woman," his voice broke through me.
My body suddenly shivered and I couldn't bring myself to look into his eyes. Had he discovered that I was a woman?
"And the most intriguing of it all is how you simply magnet me," his body slowly pressed me to the walls of the pool.
I could feel his groin growing as his eyes bore into me. My lips fell apart as his eyes flickered to them. I didn't even realize how my hands gripped his waist firmly.
His lips leaned forward, and I knew this was it. Alexandro was a hundred percent smitten by me.
Slightly, his lips brushed my lips - once, twice and thrice before pushing his tongue into my mouth.
I moaned slightly when he pulled back to look into my eyes. Then, he bent his head again to kiss me.
"Boss?"
Bruno's voice interrupted.
