Chapter 76 Declaration of War
"Patricia, calm yourself," Devon said. "Even if you are against my decision, you should not do this in front of our guest," he added.
"Then you should have discussed with me first before making an announcement I know nothing about in front of the so-called guest," Patricia said angrily.
"What is wrong with you, Patricia? This is Susan. She grew up together with Bryce. What do you have against her?" Devon asked.
"You know. I am glad you asked this question because I wanted to ask you the same question. I don't know, we may have the same reason for our objections," Patricia said with a frown. "What do you have against Angela?" she asked.
Susan, who was sitting at the table, was surprised by the hostility displayed by Patricia, but after hearing her question, she understood why.
"So this is about Angela," Susan thought and grabbed a glass of water for herself.
"Angela is a slut and a gold digger. She is only here to amass wealth for herself. I would not sit and watch such a woman take away everything I have built for this family using my son as a pawn," Devon said with disdain.
"Hmm," Patricia said. "And I guess she is an angel sent to earth by God to marry Bryce and multiply the riches you built for him," she added sarcastically, pointing to Susan with her thumb while staring angrily at Devon.
"Mrs Moore, please. That is going too far," Susan interrupted, feeling insulted by Patricia's statement.
"Last I checked, this is my home and my dining area. I didn't invite you here, and I don't recall mentioning your name in my statement, did I?" Patricia threw the words at Susan.
"Patricia!" Devon called out to her.
"Devon!" Patricia called out his name.
"Thanks for dinner. I think I need to leave," Susan said and stood up to leave.
"I am sorry, Susan. Let me call one of my drivers to drop you off as compensation for the messed-up dinner. I will find a way to make up for today," Devon said to Susan.
"Mr Moore, I drove here. So please don't bother. I appreciate the gesture," Susan said and headed for the exit.
"What was the meaning of that, Patricia?" Devon questioned as soon as Susan left.
"What is the meaning of what?" Patricia questioned back.
"I think that is my cue to leave," Elena said and was about to stand up but Patricia stopped her.
"Elena, you are old enough. So I want you to be here. Be the judge of what is happening now. This is about your brother's happiness, " Patricia said to Elena.
"Now you are going too far," Devon said.
"I am going too far?" Patricia asked. "If this is going too far, then what do you call telling Bryce to get rid of his child that Angela is carrying?" she asked
Devon was surprised by her statement, and Elena's jaw dropped.
"What gave you that impression?" Devon asked after ten seconds of silence.
"It wasn't an impression, but I heard you tell Bryce to terminate Angela's pregnancy," Patricia replied.
"You must have heard wrong. I did no such thing," Devon defended.
"Good to know," Patricia said. "Then, for your information, Angela Anderson is pregnant, and Bryce is responsible. It is no crime because they are married. I want my grandchild. So you better call off, whatever engagement plan you have with Ms McClean, because Byrce is already married," she added and stood up from behind the table.
"Dad, did you ask my brother to terminate Ms Angela's pregnancy?" Elena asked.
"No, I didn't," Devon lied. "Your mum heard wrong," he added.
"So why are you organising an engagement party for Ms Susan? Elena asked, and Devon sighed.
"I didn't know Ms Angela was pregnant, okay? I did some background checks, and she is not good for your brother. She came with a motive. Not a good one," Devon said.
"Hmmmm," Elena said and excused herself.
"No, I can't allow this Angela girl to stay married to Bryce. It is only a matter of time before she starts taking revenge for what happened to her parents," Devon thought.
"I must do everything within my power to make sure I take care of Angela too. She must join her parents wherever they are," Devon thought and exited the dining room.
The servants came to clear the table.
Meanwhile, Bryce was also in his home waiting for news from the search team he had sent out to find Angela.
Susan, on the other hand, was on her way home, angry because of what happened at Devon's home.
"What does Mrs Moore see in Angela? Why does she want Bryce to be with Angela?" Susan thought.
"Well, if she is against me, I need to do something about it. Mrs Moore, you just started a war. Be ready for it," Susan said, and a wicked smile appeared on her face.
