Chapter 39 What Happened Here?
Angela read the accusing look in the eyes of everyone gathered around the scene. Aaron was being attended to by the medical team on site.
"No, no. I didn't do anything. Why would I do that?" Angela said to Don.
"That is what I want to know. I was warned about you, but I decided to give you a chance, and you injured someone on set. When did you conceive your idea of revenge?" Don said to Angela in the presence of all.
"How can you say that?" Angela defended. "Someone is framing me up. I planned revenge, and I waited for Aaron to offer me a plate of apples and a knife just so I could switch the knives. So what if Aaron didn't bring any knives on set?" she added.
"How sure are we that you did not bring a knife to the set? In this scene, the male lead's presence was supposed to be enough to scare the attacker away. You modified it and introduced the fight scene and the stabbing scene. Was it just to get back at Aaron for disrespecting you?" Don questioned.
"No, I only brought in the scene because I wanted something that would start a relationship between the male lead and the female lead. I saw the idea of your story, and I only improved it," Angela defended, but it appeared no one would believe her.
"There is only one way to find out if you are guilty or not," Don said. "Search her bag," he ordered.
"Fine," Angela agreed, knowing she had nothing to hide.
Someone picked up Angela's bag and poured the contents onto the table. Among the things that came out of Angela's bag was a small pen-knife. The guy who had emptied Angela's bag onto the table picked up the pen knife and showed it to Angela and Don.
"So what is this?" the man asked.
He was part of the production team, and he brought most of the props used on set to the place.
"That is not mine. I promise," Angela said, staring at the pen knife.
"So whose is it? And what was it doing in your bag?" Don asked.
"I don't know, but it is not mine. Believe me," Angela pleaded.
"So someone dropped it into your bag?" Don asked.
"I don't know," Angela said in frustration, not sure what to say anymore.
She didn't know what happened or how it all happened. They were shooting a scene, and the next thing, Aaron was down bleeding.
"Hold her, make sure she doesn't run away. I am going to call the police," Don said and retrieved his phone from his pocket.
"What happened here?" Bryce cuts through the hall, making everyone turn to stare at the entrance.
Bryce strode in with all his glory, flanked by four guards. Angela's heart skipped multiple beats when her gaze fell on him. It has been one thing after another since the elevator fight case. What would Bryce do this time? This was the thought running through Angela's mind. She began trembling as Bryce made his way to the set.
"Let go of my secretary?" Bryce ordered, and those holding Angela released her immediately.
"Mr Moore, someone was deliberately wounded on set and Ms Anderson here appears to be the one behind it," Don reported, and Bryce frowned.
He shifted his gaze from Don, who seemed very confident, to Angela, who looked like her world had been shattered into multiple pieces.
"Why are you confident that Angela did it?" Bryce asked, shifting his gaze back to Don.
"Sir, Ms Anderson here and the victim, who happens to be the male lead, Aaron, had a misunderstanding and were at each other's throats during the cast selection. I must say, Aaron was very rude, calling Ms Anderson out using her private information," Don narrated. "I spoke with Aaron about his behaviour, and today he came to apologise to Ms Anderson, but the moment he went on set, he was stabbed with a real knife instead of the fake one. We realised someone had switched the knives. Ms Anderson here was the one with the props. Again, the knife used was the same knife Ms Anderson used a while ago to cut an apple," he concluded.
"I see," Bryce said, and Angela just stood there in complete silence, not sure what to say to defend herself anymore. "Aside from you, Ms Anderson and Aaron, who else knew about the conflict that happened during the cast selection?" he asked.
"The whole cast was there except the production team here," Don replied.
"So all these people here, aside from the production team, knew about the conflict between Ms Anderson and Aaron?" Bryce asked for confirmation, his expression unreadable.
"Yes, Mr President," Don replied.
"I see," Bryce said, sounding very calm and collected about the whole situation. "Call the police and have everyone present here and now, including the victim. I want everyone investigated," he said and shifted his gaze to Angela. "Come with me," he said and headed for the exit.
Angela lowered her head, packed her stuff into her bag and followed Bryce out of the hall. Don was surprised that Bryce was going to have everyone investigated. He needed to do something and fast too; if not, he would be in trouble. The pen knife belonged to him. He carries it with him all the time. He dropped it into Angela's bag just to frame her for what happened on set.
A day before the shoot, Susan had called him and requested the movie script. He sent it to her because Susan still had his daughter. She called back and told him Aaron was going to cause an accident on set, and he needed to find a way to frame Angela for it.
Don did just that. He made sure everyone believed that Angela had a motive. She was the one who checked the props, and the knife used in stabbing Aaron was the one she had used. She gave the knife to the person playing the role of the attacker. And now there was a pen knife in her bag. She looked guilty, but Bryce wanted everyone investigated.
Don pulled out his phone and made the call as requested by Bryce.
"Hello," Don said.
"There was an accident on set, and we would like to report it for investigation," Don said, scanning the environment to see who was watching. "Someone was stabbed with a real knife," he said. "Yes, I would share the list of all the people present and make sure nobody leaves until you people arrive," he added and soon ended the call.
"Listen up, everyone," Don said, addressing everyone present. "The police would be here in a couple of minutes because of what happened. Don't be afraid, no one is in trouble. They will ask a few questions, please help find who decided to harm one of our own," he said.
Meanwhile, outside, Bryce opened the back seat door of the car and asked Angela to get inside. Angela got inside.
"Wait outside," Bryce said to the guards and his driver and sat in the car.
"Now tell me, what happened?" Bryce questioned, and Angela stared at him briefly before lowering her head again.
