Chapter 38 Trouble on Set
Angela lifted her head a little and stared at Bryce's sleeping face. She felt happy waking up to find him still in bed. It was 5 am.
"Are you going to lie there staring at my face?" Bryce's deep husky voice travelled to Angela's eyes, causing her to jolt.
"Er, sorry," Angela apologised and tried to get up, but Bryce pulled her back, making her lie back on the bed.
He turned around, coming halfway on top of her. He stared at her face, and Angela was not sure where to look. Her eyes kept looking everywhere but his face.
"Look at me," Bryce said, his voice commanding yet gentle.
Angela stopped her roaming eyes and slowly shifted them to his face. He stared at her face, and Angela began to feel uncomfortable with the way he was staring at her. He leaned forward and kissed her lips.
"I am your husband, you don't have to be shy of me. This wouldn't be the first time we have slept together," he said, his voice very low and seductive.
Angela nodded with her lashes lowered. He kissed again before letting her go. Angela got out of bed and started walking towards the bathroom.
"I will see you soon, and best of luck with your first shoot," Bryce said, making her pause in steps briefly.
"Thank you," Angela appreciated and continued her walk towards the bathroom, and Bryce covered himself with the blanket.
Angela freshened up, and when he returned to the bedroom, Bryce was still in bed. She entered the closet and returned to the bedroom dressed up. She grabbed her shoes and was about to exit the room.
"Angela," Bryce called out to her, making her stop in her tracks.
"Yes," Angela said, turning around to face the bed, holding her shoes in one hand and her bag in another.
Bryce got down from the bed and walked towards her. He stopped right in front of her and held the side of her face.
"I love kissing you," he whispered and kissed her.
Angela's hands were both occupied, but it was a brief kiss.
"Good luck," Bryce said, and Angela nodded before exiting the bedroom, not sure of what to make of Bryce's new behaviour towards her.
Angela skipped her breakfast again and exited the apartment, walking towards her waiting Uber. She sat in the car and was soon on her way to the office.
Bryce exited the bedroom a few minutes after Angela had left and headed for the dining area. Josephine was just exiting the place. Bryce frowned, staring at the set table.
"Did Angela eat before leaving?" Bryce asked.
"No, sir," Josephine replied.
"Does she ever eat before leaving this place?" Bryce asked with a frown.
"For a long time now, she leaves in a hurry and never eats," Josephine replied.
"I see," Bryce replied, leaving the dining area without eating.
He went back upstairs and freshened up. He was not sure what was making him angry: the fact that Angela kept skipping her breakfast or the fact that she was not taking care of herself.
He dressed up and called his driver. He also left for the office.
Angela arrived at the office and, after going through her morning routine, she left for Don Entertainment. Bryce arrived a few minutes after Angela had left for Don Entertainment. He went up to his office and found his coffee waiting for him. All his files and everything had been taken care of by Angela, like she does every morning. He sat down and decided to get some work done.
At Don Entertainment, Angela walked into the reception, and she was soon ushered to Don's office. Don left with her for the location proposed for the first shoot. The casts were already there with the production team.
"Good morning, Ms Angela," Aaron greeted Angela.
"Good morning," Angela replied, wondering what he wanted, recalling that he fought with her on their first meeting.
"I think I owed you an apology for my behaviour last time. I understand it was not the best way to have made my concerns known," Aaron apologised, sounding honest.
"That is okay. Apology accepted," Angela said.
"I came with a peace offering," Aaron said and offered Angela a plate of two apples with a knife placed on the side.
"Thank you," Angela appreciated and wanted to decline the offer, but Aaron was very persuasive.
Angela accepted the plate of apples and placed it on her table after taking Aaron.
The set-up was done, and Angela did her checks, including all props to be used on set, to ensure everything was well done. They successfully shot the first two scenes. And they were now on the third scene, where Aaron, the male lead will make an appearance for the first time in the movie.
In that scene, the male lead rescued the female lead from a man who attacked her. The male lead fought the female lead's attacker, but just when he thought he had overpowered the attacker, the male lead was stabbed on the side by the attacker, and he ran off.
The knife to be used for the scene was a fake plastic knife which draws inward once you stab anyone with it. It was sprayed to make it look like a real knife, and the attacker was supposed to carry the knife with him. Angela had already inspected the knife. Aaron moved to the setup already dressed with the fake blood bag fastened underneath his shirt.
"Action," the director shouted, and the characters went into action.
On the set, Aaron was sitting on top of a hill when he saw the female lead being attacked. He quickly stood up and made his way down the hill. He got to the place and pulled the attacker, and the two got into a fight. The female lead stepped aside, staring at the two men battling it out. Aaron kicked the attacker, and the attacker's robes were pulled, making it look like Aaron's kick was very strong. Aaron jumped, and again, with the help of the robes, it made it look like Aaron jumped five feet into the air and landed on the attacker with his feet. He went down and started giving him multiple punches on his face. The attacker pulled the knife from his wallet and stabbed Aaron on the side. Aaron let out a painful groan and fell on his side, holding the place that had been stabbed. That side of his shirt soon turned red, and the attacker fled the scene. The female lead went to the side of his saviour to tend to him.
"Cut," the director shouted. "That was perfect," he said, and Angela smiled.
So far, everything was okay. Ms Caroline Fox, the lady playing the role of the female lead, screamed, holding out her blood-stained hand when she stood up from her position where she was holding Aaron. Aaron remained on the floor. Angela frowned, wondering what was going on.
Don stood up, and she also did as they all moved to the set to see what was happening. Angela's hand flew to her mouth when she saw the blood stain on the floor.
The one who played the role of the attacker also moved to the scene, and the director requested to see the fake knife he had used to stab Aaron. He handed it over, and they realised it was a real knife.
"Get the medical team here," the director said and walked to Angela's table.
He found the fake knife lying on the plate next to Angela's cut apple.
"Do you care to explain how the knives got switched?" the director asked, and Angela didn't know what to say.
The fake knife was lying on the table inside a knife wallet. She was feeling hungry and decided to eat the apple Aaron had given her. She cut a piece of the apple with the knife Aaron had provided her and placed the knife back on the table. How the knives were switched is what she couldn't understand. She was the one who handed the knife to the attacker.
The gathered cast started murmuring among themselves as Angela stood there dumbstruck.
"But Ms Angela, Aaron apologised for his behaviour. Do you hate him so much that you will use this means to harm him?" one cast said.
"I didn't do that," Angela defended, but no one would believe her.
Don turned to look at Angela.
