“Where were you when the intruder infiltrated the base?"
Inside one of the rooms of the Central Hall
Castellan Ross currently had the ugliest expression he had ever had on his face as he stared away from the screen before him, his head bent so low it seemed like it could snap!
The voice was cold to the extreme, so cold it seemed to causes ones would to freeze on the spot. While it clearly belonged to a woman, there was no liveliness to be found in it only endless chill and indifference!
For a while he just stood there myriad thoughts galloping through his mind.
“Lord Ash–,”
“You only have one chance."
Just when he wanted to speak she suddenly added causing him to pause.
Gulp!
Subconciously, his throat bobbed as cold sweat poured forth from his forehead. If he had decided to say something else before, he immediately changed it to truth.
“Actually I was busy having some drinks with the boys, I never expected someone would actually dare to sneak into the base, boss please forgive me I promise to find the person with everything I have!"
Towards the end of his sentence he was literally yelling with his hand placed on his chest in salute.
Despite not being there physically, Ashen Rose still inflicted fear in him!
For many who knew the great, ruthless and unruly Castellan they would surely rub those eyes in disbelief if they saw him in his current position.
He however couldn't care less, infact if he could do more than just kneel down he would gladly do it. Only those with inside knowledge knew how deeply rooted and terrifying the forces behind her were.
“I presume you can recognize the person, no?“
" Ugh… ." Scratching his head awkwardly Castellan Ross was stumped. He didn't even know there was an intrusion until the last moment, he possibly couldn't recognize the intruder!
“Just get lost….wait…if my parents are still there hand the phone over to them."
Luckily, it seemed like Ashen Rose wasn't interested in pushing the matter any longer as she sent him away a trace of annoyance in her tone.
She was probably wondering how she had useless henchmen in the first place.
"Yes, yes!” Hearing that he could finally be free, he wasted no time to find the two before handing the phone over to the two.
The next moment he bolted out of the Central Hall.
Receiving the phone, Councilman Firman expression was a little shaken as he stared at the teenage girl on the screen, the tips of his eyes reddening.
“Little Jenny.."
"Dad don't call me that!” The once cold and lifeless voice suddenly lost the indifference it possessed. The dark room suddenly seemed to come alive as the teenage girl protested violently.
In fact a hint of embarrassment tinged her voice.
If the police ever learned that the most dangerous gang lord of Anker district was a young girl with such a sweet name and had this cute side to her what would they think?
Wasting no time jenny began to ask her parents various questions relating to the intrusion. Since they were a bunch of incompetents, she would have to do the job herself.
Soon though her expression soured.
Unfortunately, the two weren't able to provide her with much information, much to her dismay.
It would have been better if she hadn't even asked in the first place!
“I'm sure you know that there is a possibility that tomorrow morning the headlines would change right?"
Frowning she pointed out to her parents.
" How?” Simultaneously, both asked confused by what she meant.
Seeing that they both still didn't realize, Jenny rolled her eyes before beginning to explain.
"Previously no one knew that the two of you were having an affair which for your statuses it's going to cause a lot of waves, especially mom's.”
When the two heard this their countenances paled instantly, seeing their shocked expressions, Jenny continued.
"We'd be lucky if the person tries to extort us or else…”
She didn't need to say anything more but the two naturally understood what would happen as long as the information leaked out.
They could kiss goodbye to their reputations and social life!
“Wa–what do we do now? You can do something to it right darling?”
Panicking, Fiona asked with her voice teetering on the edge of breaking down. Clearly she was already losing her nuts.
As if that wasn't enough Jenny shook her head.
“I can't find any traces of them at all.”
Meanwhile, Councilman Firman was surprisingly relatively calm, his expression showed that he was clearly thinking and soon he spoke.
"It's time to call George's bluff, you're announcing the divorce—immediately!”
“But—”
No buts, this is the only way to prevent whoever is targeting us from having control of the overall situation!" Staring at Fiona in the eye, Councilman Firman declared.
“Nice thinking dad."
Jenny on the other couldn't agree more while praising her dad.
Turning to her mom, she gently explained.
“Mom, it's the only way out, there's a high chance the individual is planning to tarnish your image the best way out is to show you and the mayor aren't together any more.”
Pausing, she pleadingly gazed at her mom.
“Plus you guys have divorced each other for nearly half a year now anyway!"
Hearing this Fiona couldn't find anything to counter with, they had a point!
She and George had signed the divorce papers over six months ago but hadn't gone their ways thus why no one knew about it.
This was a small request from George in order to maintain his image as the mayor of Detroit and further increase his chances of running for the second time.
“Oh shit!"
" What's wrong?”
Jenny's cursing caused both Firman and Fiona to tense up. Instinctively, they both felt that something really bad had happened.
Right then then television suddenly switched to a breaking news segment.
“Latest and greatest green hat of all time; You'd never know that had an eye on each other all these years."
“We were a step too late at the end."
Heaving a heavy sigh, Jenny slumped into her chair.
“This shouldn't be happening…”
Whispering under her breath she slowly looked at her mother only to see the light in her eyes fade.
Everything was.... ruined.
