Chapter 84 🐉
"Speak!"
The confession wouldn't ease her punishment, which probably was death, but if it helped closure, Iris was willing, and so was Elijah.
Lily was trying her hardest to control her sobs enough to get a few words out in a sentence. But the guilt coupled with the looks she was receiving, especially from her brother, was making her unable to talk about all the horrible things she had done.
She started with the same apology, "I am so sorry." She sniffed, "I know it means nothing to you but, I truly am sorry. Fonsi-"
"Don't you dare call me that!" Dom thundered, "I am nothing more than Alpha King to you." His eyes were cold, his words were colder.
Liliana sobbed even harder, "Brother, please. I know you love me, and I am so sorry I am not the sister you deserved-"
"Enough with the apologies! You wanted to confess, so confess!" Dom hated to act like this towards his sister whom he had cared for like a delicate flower, but every time he looked at her, her guilty tears reminded him of her betrayal.
Lily was about to take a deep breath and get on with it when Freddie said something to Dom and soon everyone left the cell without a second glance at Lily except Elijah, who looked broken at the pitiable sight of his daughter brought upon by herself.
On the other hand, everyone who was someone had gathered in the meeting room as another encrypted video had been received, no doubt from Y. The video was only getting this attention even though they all knew the trouble it would stir, because no matter what he said, Waai hadn't lied about anything. All his messages were his boastings and they were hoping to find his next step from the video. And they were right as they turned the video on and Akuma Waai presented his manic grin with an underlying taunt, his suit crisp like always and his eyes shining with a celebration of the victory he was sure he could taste.
"Hello, Fonsi!" He spoke with an over-the-top cheer in his tone, looking satisfied at whatever he thought would have been the proceedings of the revelations since his last video.
"I would've loved a proper chat but we'll have to make do with this small message instead." He mocked regret and then instantly smiled suggestively, "But I understand how busy you would be with, you know, everything. After all, it isn't every day that one finds his only sister betraying her Alpha brother during an inevitable war." His eyes shone with malice as he expected to hit a nerve. Dom made sure to not let anything show in front of the room full of allies as he had expected such taunts from Y.
Waai continued, "I don't know if Lily-flower confessed or not yet, but I'd like to add a few things from my list as well. Just in case she, you know, forgets to mention some stuff or, I don't know, blames me for everything. Like I made her want to rid her of the brother she thought would take her rightful place on the throne." He laughed like a housewife sharing the most casual of gossip.
"I, of course, just want to urge you to ask her the right questions. Nothing drastic, of course! Maybe ask, how did Gideon Powers suddenly end up dead after his clear life sentence? And how did Delta Natalia end up dead as well in quite a similar fashion? Oh, and do ask who was responsible for a certain cake shop fire that turned literally everyone and everything to ash."
He kept counting on his fingers like it was some day-to-day grocery list, making all the rest of the people nearly lose their heads at all the things she had done. If everything that he was saying was true, then it meant Liliana was way more guilty than they had initially expected. Her earlier crimes could've been pardoned or ended up in an eased punishment, but as Y's list kept growing, so did the gravity of Liliana's actions, whom everyone expected to be an innocent young girl with an imbalanced dragon worthy of care and pity.
But the video wasn't over yet.
"You know, McBlaze, I kind of pity you sometimes. 'Kind of' and 'sometimes'. Other times I quickly remind myself that you are the dead man walking whom I will kill right before that whore parading around calling herself the queen of traitors and cowards who will be crushed just as easily as they thought they could escape me." In one sentence, he had mentioned everyone like it needed reminding that he hadn't forgotten his silly psychopathic reasons for the war.
For a second, he quietened down, fixed his coat, and sat back in his chair. Looking straight into the camera, he continued more seriously, "Now for the matters at hand. You must be wondering why you found no bodies at your Switzerland safehouse. Don't worry, they have all started serving their purpose already. I couldn't let them wait for their inevitable deaths for long, you know. I am that merciful."
He took a deep breath, "Don't bother trying to find them, you might, but it would be too late for them and you would've walked right into my traps. That much you are smart enough to understand."
He suddenly perked up, "O my, How could I have forgotten?" He smacked himself on the forehead and looking at the camera with a creepy smile and spoke, "When is your baby shower, little sister? I would hate to miss an opportunity to kill the bastard!"
He laughed at the end like he had told the joke of the century. Iris stood up, and if it wasn't for Sussane, she might've broken the screen where the video was being played. If Iris was a dragon, her breath would be visibly smoking.
"But anyway! Back to the useless Lily-flower. I hope she tells you everything before I take her last breath. Somehow, I feel like it would be impossible for a weakling that you are to do so much damage. Though you should warn her to beware me. As you know, I don't like traitors and she ended up being a useless traitor. The fool thought she could sit on the ancient throne without a mate. Believed her childish fantasy of becoming the Alpha Queen." Once again, his creepy laugh rang up like he had shared the best joke ever.
"I must say, if she hadn't helped my werewolf on your island, none of my plans would've succeeded. And I won't forget her help when I first captured you both. Please do convey my thanks. I never got the chance. But, don't forget to warn her that I haven't forgiven her for what your monstrous wife did to my Utopia, because once again, Liliana had failed like the failure she has always been. Her greed and naive fantasies had her doomed from the start. But I never asked her for her, Şekileus knows I never needed her. She was the one who approached me. She, with her uncle. That Gideon was a clever man. I was so glad to have him out of the picture at the right time. Thanks to Lily-flower, he was turning into a nuisance."
He sighed as if regrettably to conclude the video, "Now, I must go. My job at stalling you has been successful. And while you clean up yet another mess today, I shall go to resume the next phase of the war. Till then, Dom, Have a nice life. However short I might make it. And do pay my regards to the little McBlaze, who might not see the sunlight, ever!" With that, the video ended and the room ended in pin-drop silence. In one video, Y made threats, told some serious things about Lily, and confessed some more awful things as well.
Before anyone could react to anything, Dom got mind-linked about another attack on a safe house, which had been destroyed to bits, and this time, everyone had died. The result of another betrayal of Liliana, who had possibly given up the coordinates and ways to get inside and destroy the magical place.
Dom was about to rain hellfire somewhere when Freddie received another mind-link and spoke with relief and determination, "Alpha King, we found the location where the hostages from the Swedish safe-house are being kept. I've received the news of some sort of bone marrow experiments being done on them which they won't survive if we don't hurry."
Dom nodded and gave simultaneous orders to form a rescue team which he would lead, to put all safe houses on high alert with an added layer of magical security, making sure Iris stayed safe and out of harm's way, so he could operate without that tension and for everyone to be ready to give it all. The war was here and no one knew how long it would go on.
**Author's note:
How long before Dom and Y meet face-to-face for the Final War? Can Iris stay out of action and be robbed of the chance to end Y herself?**
