Chapter 83 🐉
"If you were sorry, you wouldn't be trying to escape after attempting to kill my child!" Spoke a cold grave voice from behind the hugging figures of Elijah and Lily. They were surrounded in seconds.
Dom felt like he was hallucinating his sister's betrayal but he looked like he was ready to take a couple hundred lives with his bare hands. Iris was right beside him and looked just sad at the unfortunate turn of events.
She was ready to control Dom in case things went out of hand. In her mind, Lily deserved to explain herself. Even though it won't excuse what she did, it would help to put things into perspective and Dom also needed time to calm down, or else he might end up doing something he would regret for the rest of his nearly immortal life.
"Please tell me you were not in this with her, Father," Dom spoke gravely, barely in control.
Elijah raised a brow, "Are you really going to ask your father, the predecessor Alpha, if I had a hand in the killing of innocents of my own race, plotting against my son, and shaking hands with an eons-long enemy to start the worst war this planet will ever see?"
"Just say it, Dad!" Dom was desperate. He needed consolation, even the tiniest bit of it.
Elijah could understand what his son was going through. If he had been in his shoes, he might've exercised much less control. He kept his daughter close and calmly replied, "I am not a traitor, Fonsi. Never was, and never will be." He used Dom's nickname, but a single glance at his treacherous sister was enough to send Dom overboard.
"Then, step away from the traitor!" He thundered, making a new wave of sobs wash over Liliana, who clutched her father's coat hysterically and mumbled in broken whispers, "Please don't. I don't-want to-die!"
But it wasn't just Elijah who heard her plea, every supernatural present with superhearing did. Dom snarled, "You should've thought about that before you dared to poison my wife and attempted to kill my child, little sister."
A part of him still couldn't grasp the idea of what she had done and had attempted to do. He growled, "My child! Your own niece! The heir of the McBlaze family. How could you even-?"
He couldn't even bring himself to keep repeating the heinous crime she had so blatantly attempted. Disbelieving and not being able to think of any logical reason to do what she had done, he helplessly asked, "Why?"
Lily had imagined this scenario for so long. Every time she did something she knew she shouldn't have, every time she allowed something to happen that she shouldn't have, she would always have this nagging in her heart. About how she would face her father when all of this was over, about what she would say to her brother who had just found happiness in his mate, and Iris, how would she be able to look in the eyes of the woman who had just been liberated from Y's eternal torment and whom Lily had so shamelessly called sister?
Liliana had thought about what she would say. She used to believe that if everything went right, eventually everyone would understand on their own. She had believed every tale her mind had woven so deeply that she never pictured this scenario, where she would become the convict and at her brother's mercy.
She had expected a confrontation and had tried to prepare a speech to explain her motives, but no words had ever seemed appropriate to convey what she truly felt. And here she was, being asked what she always wanted to tell. And now, she found herself tongue-tied. She wanted to tell everything but the terror of how her brother wouldn't bless her with a quick death had set in so deeply that her mind couldn't formulate words, let alone coherent sentences.
The attendants were getting impatient. The werewolf Alphas had followed and so did the Vampires. They needed to know if Dom would still be true to his word when the culprit really was his sister. They wanted to see the one who had put so many innocent lives in danger paying for her deeds. Despite being a young dragon, she was still older than all of the werewolves and vampires.
Despite Elijah's resistance and Lily's guilty sobs, when Dom did not receive any sort of response, he ordered Lily to be taken to the special cell in the dungeons, made solely to keep her imbalanced dragon in control.
Elijah pleaded with Dom to give her a chance to calm down and explain herself instead of throwing her so many feet underground, but Lily had stopped resisting. She knew she had brought everything upon herself. After all, there were things she had done that they didn't even know yet.
Soon, Elijah was with Iris and Sussane, who were still trying to comfort the mourning Clara. Meanwhile, Dom was ready to interrogate his sister before passing the final verdict.
Elijah suddenly stood up, "I'm not going to allow a brother to become the judge, jury, and executioner for his only sister."
Iris noted contemptuously, "That sister did attempt to kill his unborn child and succeeded in killing so many innocents."
Even though she was right, her words stung. But he was the father, he couldn't bear the turn of events. He looked at Iris with sorrowful eyes, suddenly giving the impression of his real age, "When you become a parent, you will understand my pain."
He helplessly exclaimed in agony, "She is my daughter! How can a father bear witness to a brother killing his sister? My children at each other's throats."
The last part was muttered to himself in so much pain, he looked like he had been stabbed in the heart with an SHS syringe. He rushed to the dungeons and everyone followed.
Dom paced the dungeon corridor, his breath smoking hot and his dragon restless. He was alone as his sister sobbed in her simmering cell. Her imbalanced dragon had made a show just a few minutes ago. Dom looked up to see Elijah coming his way with Iris, Freddie, Sussane, and even Clara on his heels.
"Fonsi-" Before Elijah could begin, Dom broke down in front of him, the magically reinforced walls making it inaudible for Liliana.
"Dad, I can't!" He looked helplessly like a child at his father, shoulders sagged, ready to tear his hair out. "She is a murderer and a traitor and conspirator and-" He sighed, looking into his father's eyes. "But she is my sister. My little Lily flower. Mother's only souvenir."
He was conflicted and rightly so, but Iris felt so bad watching him so torn between duty and family. "There are men up there, waiting for me to announce the punishment for the traitor, because of whom their families are hostage to that monster. But here she is, unhinged and vulnerable, my little sister, in need of nothing but care. What do I do?"
Elijah asked softly, "What do you want to do, Fonsi?"
Dom averted his gaze, thought for a second, and shook his head in indecision, "I don't know, Father! I don't know. That's the problem! I want to kill the person who tried to take my child away from me, the person because of whom so many innocent men, women, and children could possibly be dead. But I also want to just rush in there, hug her and pick her up and take her somewhere safe and away from all of this and wake up to find it all nothing but a damned nightmare. I'll choose Y's torture over this any day!" His dilemma was understood, but there was still a decision to be made.
Lily didn't know if she had been left alone or was anyone out there, but she was still ready. She had made up her mind, to come clean, to tell every dirty little secret she had, to confess her every crime. If she was going to die anyway, she had better die with all her baggage on her conscience delivered. She was tired of hiding, plotting, and being the reason so many smiles were snatched. She felt guilty and regretted most of her deeds, but it was too late now. All she did was scream as loudly as her broken self would allow.
"Dom! Dom! I want to confess." She cried as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks and she sobbed to herself, "There is so much you don't know, I want to confess." She had no idea if she was even being heard or not but she kept saying until Dom stood at the face of her cell, looking broken and terrifying at the same time. He was surrounded by Elijah, Iris, Sussane, Freddie, and Clara, the sight made her cry even more.
But Dom coldly ordered,
"Speak!"
**Author's note:
Will Lily have the power to face her crimes and say them all out loud? What will the brother do when he is also the King who need to set an example in times of war?**
