Chapter 22

I wasn't having it from McLain.

" She is my friend," I said to him

" I didn't do anything," he said to me, keeping his face straight like he was telling the truth.

" I don't like what you just said about her," I said to him fuming

" Your friend Is pretty and that's it, deal with it," he said and left the room.

I hated the way he looked at her when he saw her downstairs. I held the bedsheets as I had wanted to tears in my eyes to flow freely. I hope he doesn't get stupid because we are still trying to get out of the mess that he had created with Larissa.

I needed an air moment. I stood up, I went to the dressing room to change. I wore a loose pair of trousers, black trousers with a purple top. I wore sneakers too. Left the dressing room, picked a headphone, and left the room. I went downstairs.

" I am going for a walk. '' I told McLain, who was in the sitting room. He didn't say anything to me, he just raised his head and gave me a nod. I took that as a yes as I made for the door. I got out.

My jogging outfit is sporty and stylish. I was wearing a black tank top with mesh detailing, paired with neon green leggings that hugged my curves. My running shoes are bright orange, adding a pop of color to my look. My hair is pulled back in a sleek ponytail, and my skin is glowing from the fresh air.

I take off down the trail, the sun shining on my face. I take a deep breath of the fresh air, feeling invigorated and refreshed. As I jogged, I noticed the birds chirping in the trees and the squirrels scampering across the path. I feel a sense of peace and calm as I move my body, feeling my muscles work and my heart rate increase. After a while, I reached the end of the trail, feeling accomplished and energized.

I was jogging on the road. I was happy that I was out of the house, it was tough for me, with Larissa living in the house.

I stopped joking as I began to walk slowly was tired of everything. If my parents had not done what they did, I would have still been a happy person and not in this mess of marriage with Larissa trying to get in so badly.

I was still on the road joking when I noticed that I was being followed by some guy behind me. I continued to jog, I even took another turn instead of just going straight and he followed as well.

Suddenly, she notices that this guy is jogging behind me, keeping pace with me every step. I tried to ignore him, but he was getting closer and closer, his footsteps echoing in my ears. I quickened my pace, but he matched my speed. Panic starts to rise in my chest. I looked around, hoping to find someone else on the trail, but I was alone. The guy is getting closer, and I feel a knot of fear in my stomach.

He jogged fast and met up with me. I slowed down wanting him to move past me but I do not think it was part of his plans to move past me.

" Hello pretty," he said to me. I didn't want to respond, but when I remembered that I barely go out to talk to people, I decided to answer him.

"Hello," I said back to him

" I find you pretty and I would not mind if we can hang out some other time, you know, just the two of us," he said

I began to wonder who he was that he had such boldness because I was clearly on my wedding rings, I was wearing my rings, wasn't he seeing it?

" It would have been nice, such a thoughtful person you are, but you see, I would like to talk to my husband about it," I said to him, intentionally bringing my husband into it. We were still jogging.

" Ooh, your husband, that will not be necessary, he does not have to know, I mean no harm, just us being friends I what I want," he said to me. It did not sit well with me, I continued to jog.

I was back at him thinking about the guy. He had insisted that I give him my contact address but I turned it down. I was not going to let this guy come into my life just like that.

I got home and met no one in the sitting room. I went upstairs to my room. I opened the door and entered my room.

McLain was on the floor, he was breathing so hard that it looked like something was wrong with him. He was on his laptop, he looked very frustrated. His face was squeezed in a frown.

" Is everything okay?" I asked him

" Do I not look okay?" He asked, ignoring my question. I guess I should have just minded my business and ignored the fact that he looked like he was going to blow up any moment from that time. I left him and went into the bathroom to take my bath.

I came out of the bathroom and McLain was still in that position where I had left him to go take my bath, I wondered what it was.

I got dressed and left the room.

When I got downstairs, I met Larissa downstairs.

" Hey," I was not sure that I was the one that Larissa just spoke to. Maybe she was talking to the maid. I sat down and picked up the magazine that was on the table.

" Hey, I was talking to you" Oh, now clarity sets in, she was talking to me.

" What do you want"? I asked her, I was not going to be soft on her. She is a very manipulative person and I would not give her that Chance.
