Chapter 21

I was angry that McLain would give her so much attention. It got me upset.

" Emily, she will be out by tomorrow, I do not want another scandal" he begged me.

Larissa had no respect for me and I had slapped her when she tried insulting and disrespecting me. Just as she had wanted to make a recording, I took the phone from her hand.

" She has to leave this house right now, she can not stay here one more day", I said to him angrily.

" She will leave tomorrow, and that is final," he said to me, not minding whatever might happen in the next twenty-four hours. I was so pissed at how McLain was being so tolerant to this girl who wants nothing but trouble.

I went out to the gate to get June, she had called me on the phone informing me that she would like to visit me. I told McLain and he agreed, I told her that she could visit me.

The gatekeeper opened the gate for her.

I ran to meet her, we fell into each other's arms. I was excited to see her. At least June being here would make me happy and forget about all that had happened in the past week.

" I am so happy you could come," I said to her excitedly

" Yes, I told you I was going to come to see you look at you," she said to me as I turned around and we both laughed. I was happy that she came. I had missed her greatly. Missing someone can be a complicated and emotional experience for someone like me. It can feel like an ache in my heart, a void in my life, or a physical sense of longing. It can be a bittersweet feeling, with memories of happiness and sadness intertwined. It is usually a feeling that makes me want to reach out and connect with the person I am missing. It was a feeling of yearning and emptiness for me but I was glad that she was here as I hugged her tight.

I took her inside the house. She sat down while I went to the kitchen to get wine. I took a bottle of wine and two glasses of wine glasses to go meet her. When I got to where she was. Larissa was already downstairs.

" Hello," Larissa said to her, June was shocked that Larissa was saying hello to her.

I had told June that Larissa was in my house, courtesy of my husband. I sat down and placed the train that contained the wine and the glasses on the center table.

"Hey June, it has been a while! How are you?"

" I'm doing great Emily, but I miss you so much.

" How have you been?" June asked me, I turned to Larissa with my eyes, asking her to get lost from my sight. She stood up and left.

" I haven't been myself ever since all of these happened," I told June

" I am hanging in there, but I am missing you too. It is not the same without you here. How's the new life going?" June asked me to talk about my being married to McLain.

" It is great, but it is an adjustment. I am meeting lots of new people and getting to know them, you know the most important people in his life. but it is not the same as knowing you" I answered her. " How is everything going in our library?" I added

"Same old, same" she answered briefly.

" How many more weeks before she leaves" June asked me

"She leaves tomorrow, how is Grandma" I asked her, she had been so helpful to me in checking up on Grandma.

" She is doing okay, you should find some time to go see her," June said to me. I sighed. I miss her though

" I know, and I didn't want to go there looking like this, this whole thing just ate me up and I do not want her getting worried about me," I said to June.

We talked about a lot of things. The middle of our conversation came to McLain, he walked down the stairs.

He came to where June was seated and stared deeply at her. She also stared at him as they were both looking at each other.

" Guys" I called their attention and they were back from wherever they had gone.

" Hello," McLain said to her

" Hello," she answered, smiling so broadly that it irritated me.

McLain walked away, he left the house.

" He is so cute, haven't seen him so close to me" June said, turning her eyes to the door that McLain had left the house with.

" Yeah, he is" I answered dryly

We continued to talk about a lot of things and she said it was time she left. She stood up and I walked her to the gate.

" Do you not think I should let McLain know that I am leaving already?" She asked me, I stood there wondering if she was saying this, she came to see me and not McLain

" No, that will not be necessary," I said to her as I hurriedly walked to the gate. I waved her goodbye. I'm sure she must have felt my discomfort.

I went back to the house. I was wondering why she would act that way towards McLain.

Larissa walked in. She sat down. I was going to sit but changed my mind since Larissa was already there. I stood up and was about to leave when I heard her voice, she was saying something to me.

" Care for some advice?" She asked me, I stopped on my track to hear what she wanted to say

" What?" I asked her wondering what she wanted to tell me.

" Be careful about your friend, she does not look it but she can do it" she said to me and it made me laugh

" What exactly?" I asked her trying to understand what she was talking about

"You act like you do not know but you will know soon," she said to me

I was confused at first, I wanted to give much thought to it but I waved it away. Larissa is the only person I have to be careful about. She is the threat here. I would have wanted her out of the house but McLain wants me to go according to their silly agreement. It pains me that she was in my house, giving me advice that was very unnecessary or was it necessary? Was June someone to watch out for?
