♥ CHAPTER 16 ♥

Anthony Cooper.

20:15 Restaurant New York USA

"So, what are we going to talk about?" I asked her without letting go of his hand.

"How were you as a child?" I didn’t expect this question.

"Well, I was a pretty quiet kid, to be honest. I always stayed home helping my mother with household chores, even though they always told me to eat less." She rolled her eyes, making me laugh.

"Our families would definitely get along in that respect," she said, pouting.

"Don’t worry about that, my love. I don’t care anymore about what my family thinks of me."

"But I do, love. How can a mother believe in a woman she barely knows and doubt her own son?" I smiled lightly at this.

I love it when she’s protective of me; it makes me feel loved.

"Don’t worry about it; it’s in the past, and we won’t bring it into our first official date." She sighed.

"Yes, you’re right, love. I’m sorry."

I kissed the back of her hand again with affection.

"I have nothing to forgive," she said with a smile.

The waitress came to us with two glasses and a bottle of champagne.

"Sorry for the delay, Mr. and Mrs. Carter."

I’m still surprised by this; she thinks we’re married.

"Don’t worry about it," she said kindly.

The waitress opened the champagne and poured it into our glasses, setting them in front of us.

"Your orders will arrive shortly," she said and left without waiting for a response.

"You made her nervous, love," I commented playfully, taking a sip of the champagne.

"It’s not my fault," he said with a smile.

"Yes, it is; that superior attitude of yours scares anyone, dear." She took a sip of her champagne and looked at me.

"Do I scare you?" I licked my lips.

"Sometimes, you can scare anyone when you’re angry." She laughed.

"I’m sorry if I scare you sometimes." I shook my head.

"You don’t have to worry about it; sometimes, I find it exciting." I said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

I’m not sure if it was just me, but I think her eyes dilated at my comment.

"Do you?" she asked with her sexy voice.

I sighed.

"Hilary, we’d better stop." She laughed.

"I’m not doing anything yet, my love." She winked at me.

Damn!! This woman is a danger!

I took a huge gulp of champagne, making her laugh.

"Did you go to college?" she asked.

"No, my parents couldn’t afford it. I tried several times to get a scholarship, but I always failed."

"And what did your family say about that?" I sighed.

"They criticized me, saying I was useless for not passing the exams."

"Darling, I want to give your family a good thrashing." I ended up laughing at that.

"Don’t be like that, love. It’s in the past, just like you always tell me to forget about my past in prison."

"I hate knowing that you went through so much."

"You’ve also been through a lot; today, you’ve become a hard-working woman and an amazing businesswoman. I love you." I kissed the back of her hand again.

"I love you too, damn, I love you so much." I ended up laughing at that.

I rested my hands on the table and leaned forward to kiss her lips; she held my face and kissed me the way we both like.

"You’re lucky we’re in a restaurant, or I’d be on your lap right now." She said with desire, lightly biting my lips.

"You’re a sin." I sat back in my seat, making her laugh.

"Oh, that would be the other way around, love."

I saw the waitress bringing our dishes on a cart.

"Excuse me."

She placed the dishes in front of us and left.

"Good thing it’s here; I’m starving," she said, already grabbing the cutlery.

"Me too."

We began eating in silence; it wasn’t bad; on the contrary, it was nice.

"You know, we could travel during our vacation; what do you think?" she asked after wiping her mouth with the napkin.

"Vacation?" I asked, confused.

"Of course, darling. Do you really think I exploit my employees? I always give everyone a month off."

"Wow, that’s great."

"Yes, so what do you think?"

"Sure, I’ve never left the United States; it will be nice." She broke into a big smile.

"I’ll take you to several excellent places."

"I can’t wait, my love."

"Anthony!!?"

We turned our faces to the side and I widened my eyes when I saw Amelia accompanied by a tall, young man. He was blond and well-dressed.

"Amelia?" I asked, incredulously.

"What are you doing here!? You should be in prison, you rapist!!!" She yelled loudly, drawing everyone’s attention.

"What?" I turned to Hilary, who stood up. "She’s the woman who put you in jail?"

She asked without looking at me.

"Yes," I answered hesitantly.

"Of course I put him in jail! He abused me and also beat me!!! You’re harboring a rapist in your restaurant!!!

I felt my world crumble.

"You bitch!"

Hilary grabbed Amelia by the hair and punched her in the mouth. I was very surprised by this, as was everyone in the restaurant.

"Hilary!!" I stood up to break up the fight.

She had knocked Amelia to the ground and was on top of her, just punching her face. It wasn’t slaps; it was actual punches, with blood streaming from Amelia’s mouth.

"How dare you show up here and try to ruin my boyfriend’s life again, you bitch!! I’m going to kill you, you bitch!!

I pulled Hilary by the waist.

"Let go of me, Anthony!! I’m going to kill this fucking whore!!

"My love, she’s not worth it; stop this!" I tried to calm her down.

"Yes, she is worth it; she’s dead! Let me go!

"Hilary!!" I called out loudly, and I saw that she stopped fighting. "My love, please calm down."

The man who was with Amelia helped her get up from the floor with a bruised face.

"T-T-This isn’t over! I-I’m going to report you!" she said with difficulty.

"Go ahead! But know that I will find out everything that happened, and the one who will go to jail for false accusations will be you, you damned bitch!!!

Hilary tried to lunge at her again, and I held her tightly.

"My love, please calm down." I whispered in her ear.

She didn’t say anything and I released her. She grabbed her purse and took out some money, throwing it on the table.

"Let’s go!"

She passed by Amelia, hitting her shoulder hard, and I followed her out of the restaurant.

"Love..."

"I don’t want to talk to you right now!" She sighed.

"Alright, let’s go home."

We got into the car and drove home in complete silence.

What am I going to do now? My girlfriend is angry with me, and I never thought I would run into that disgusting woman again.

"Do you still love her?" she asked out of nowhere.

I had to slam on the brakes due to the shock.

"What?" I asked in shock.

"I asked if you still love her, damn it!!" she asked, irritated.

I noticed that her eyes were filling with tears.

"I don’t feel anything for her anymore, Hilary. The woman I love now is you, only you."

"And why did you protect her!?"

I took a deep breath.

"I didn’t protect her; I protected you. I don’t want you to go to jail because of that bitch." She huffed.

"I’m not going to be imprisoned so easily, Anthony."

"I don’t believe in justice anymore, Hilary." She sighed. "I love you, Hilary. I love you and not her; I didn’t want and don’t want anything bad to happen to the woman I love."

"I’m sorry for shouting at you." She said softly.

I smiled at that.

"You don’t need to worry about it; when we get angry, we end up acting impulsively. I didn’t take it personally."

She didn’t say anything else and started driving us home.

I hope she can forgive me for interfering in that fight. I’m afraid that woman might try something with Hilary; I don’t want anything bad to happen to the woman I love.

I hope nothing happens.
