Chapter 80. All Together

The noises were coming from everywhere. I rushed toward the front of the house and to the front door. There were people in wolf form already. I stopped on the porch looking around. I saw a few of Kane's people fighting in human form, and they were holding their own well. Pack members were fighting alongside them. In the distance, I noticed a few warlocks headed toward the house. They raised their hands, and I saw blue sparks light up above their skin. I used my powers and pulled all the big rocks from the yard and hurled them in their direction. The two on the outside jumped to the sides, but the one in the middle was hit.

I rushed down the steps and around the house. It looks like they came in from all directions. Is this what Barrett had planned all along? As I went further around the side, something hit me, and I was thrown forward and slid. Whatever hit me felt like a jolt of electricity. I rolled to the side, looking behind where I had been running. I saw a woman with long brown hair and a smirk on her face walking toward me. I could see blue mist around her hands. She lifted her hand, and electricity barrelled out toward me. I rolled as fast as I could, and it missed me. I jumped to my feet and pulled on my fire, and threw it at her. She moved to the right, it missing her barely. She looked down, and I noticed the burn marks on her side. While she was distracted, I pulled on the earth calling stones to me from her direction. She looked up at me, and our eyes met. She started to smirk. I guess she thought what I was trying to do didn't work. She is wrong cause I can already see a huge stone and smaller ones coming toward us from behind her. I wait on them to get closer before I return her smirk. She must have noticed the change and went to look behind her, but as she did, the large bolder hit her straight in the side. She landed hard, and I waited for a second, but she didn't get up, so I continued around to the back. As I round the corner, I see that most of the pack and Kane with his group are keeping anyone from reaching the house. I figure they have it covered, so I turn around and head back toward the front. As I pass by where the woman was lying, I see Grayson and Piper headed toward the house. His pack is behind him, and most of them are shifting. I run toward them,

"PIPER," I scream as I make my way to her. I wrap her in a hug.

"What the hell happened?" Grayson asks, looking around. Before I can answer him, a large wolf tries to jump on Grayson from the side, but Piper is fast. She throws her hand up, and I feel the wind rush by me. It is so strong it almost knocks me over. But it hits where she was aiming because the wolf is flung back and hits a tree splintering the tree.

"I think Barrett planned it. The guys are gone to see if he held Bastien and Emma at his place. They attacked out of nowhere. Kane, his group, and most of the pack are holding them off from the back. Everyone else is coming from this direction." I say as fast as I can. Before Grayson can reply, two more wolves are trying to attack, and he shifts to his wolf. Piper and I both get in a position to help. More warlocks are coming in our direction, so I try to focus on them. They start to hurl fireballs in our direction.

We both dodge, and I throw back a fireball of my own, but nothing hits where I was aiming. It's hard to concentrate on what I need to do with so much going on around me. I am not entirely sure who is with us and who are enemies anymore. I throw fire then push every moveable object that is tied to the earth in their direction. I am lucky this time, and they are hit with rocks and tree branches. I feel something hit me from behind, and I hit the ground. I see a wolf as I roll. When I stop, the wolf is aiming for me again. I shift cause we are too close to use magic. I need my wolf. The shift is fast, and it feels good it has been too long. The other wolf leaps at me, but I duck and slide underneath him. I use my nails and slice down his underbelly. The blood splashes all over me, but I shake what I can off of me as I get back up. I look around and see a group of warlocks and a few witches from the looks of it, but I know that they are from Chase's side because I saw a few of them at the dinner party. I am right because they start to engage others from Barrett's side. I am getting ready to shift when something feels like it is coming my way from behind me. I whip around to see Barrett coming in my direction. The growl that leaves me is so deep and intense that it catches others' attention.

"I figured you might be hiding but look at you strong and brave. Stupid still, but I like that about you. I growl again, showing my teeth. "You all are so predictable. I knew they would be gone to check my house in no time. Look, I was right." He says as he stops advancing toward me. I finally shift back cause I have a few words of my own.

"SO it has been you all along?"

"For the most part, don't look so surprised." He says with a smile that makes me sick.

"Bastien trusted you. They welcomed you in our home like family." I say, getting madder the more I think about how he lied to us all.

"Trust is overrated. You will learn this soon enough. How is that brother of mine?" The smile on his face makes me want to rip his face off.

"Why don't you ask him yourself?" I say

"I will as soon as I am done with you. You can have me instead. I have always been the better catch." As soon as the words leave his mouth, he is gone. Before I can even begin to process what he said and where he went, I feel his arms around me. I throw my head back to connect with his face. Just how Bastien had taught me when I was young. I connect with his face, and I feel his hands loosen from around me. I spin around and swing, hoping to connect, but he is gone again. Where the hell did he go this time? I look around and see everyone is engaged in battle with someone. Then it hits me I can teleport to. I think of Barrett. I want to go where he is and put an end to this. I flash, and I am in the backyard, but what I see scares me more this time. All of my mates and Bastien are in the yard, but where is Barrett?
