Chapter 79. Safety

I hated the thought of them leaving, but we had to know if they were hiding Bastien and Emma at his base. There is still a lot that we can do here to get ready. Mom and Mia make their way over to me, and I am glad I could use their help in deciding what to do.

"Hey, I am going to head back out and get all the warriors I have with me to move to the back yard and start doing some training exercises. Is that ok with you?" Kane says from behind me, catching me off guard.

"Yeah, I think that is a good idea," I say, but mom cuts me off.

"I think the warriors from the pack and your group should do some training together. This will help since we may all be fighting together." Mom says, looking between Kane and me.

"I agree with mom. We will let the pack members know, and you can all train on the training grounds in the back."

"Sounds like a plan," Kane says as he smiles at Mia and heads outside.

"So, what exactly is going on between you two?" Mom asked Mia precisely what I was thinking. Mia's face turns red as she starts to look anywhere but at mom and me.

"Nothing, we are only friends. Besides, I am not old enough to find my mate yet." Mia tells us, still not looking either of us in the eyes.

"Do you think he may be your mate?" I ask cause we all see it, and I am sure they do.

"I don't know." is all she says, so I decided to leave it alone for now.

"We need to come up with a plan if they find out that Emma and Bastien are there," Mom says, and she is correct, but I am used to the guys helping and Bastien's advice and decisions on what we should do.

"We need to get the group here prepared if we all leave, including the warriors. We need to know the members left here are safe." I tell them.

"Look at you already thinking like a Luna," Mom says as she gives me a big smile. I can't help but smile back at her.

"We could get all the women and children to help get supplies in the safe house. That way, they are organized to stay there while we are gone." Mia says, and I agree that is a good idea.

"What can I help with?" Tasha says as she walks up to us.

"We are going to get the women and children here and in the pack to bring things to the safe house so that they will have stuff there and ready if we leave out to get Bastien and Emma."

"That's a good idea. I can help in any way you need. I have already made a few calls. Chase's supporters will be arriving soon."

"That's great news," Mom says, and we all agree. It makes me feel better to know they are on their way already.

"I'm glad to hear that. You can follow me to the kitchen, and we can pack up some foodstuff. Then, mom, you, and Mia contact the women and have them start bringing stuff over. I will let the women from Kane's group know and have them working here." We all agree and start heading in the direction of our assignments. I can't help but hope that the guys are ok and safe. Just as I think it, I feel Tasha's hand on my shoulder.

"They will be ok." She says as she gives me that smile she has.

"I know. I will be glad when this is all over." I tell her as we finally reach the kitchen. There are a couple of women from Kane's group inside. They look like they are fixing snacks for the kids.

"Hey, we are going to be getting things ready for the safe house. We are going to get the food together, and my mom and sister are going to let the pack women and children know. When you get the snacks done, would you please get the kids and women together? Make sure that you grab anything that the kids might want to keep them busy." I tell them, and they smile while they rush to finish up the snacks.

"Yes, ma'am, we will meet you back here to find out where to go." The older of the two women says. I nod at her and continue toward the pantry.

"We need a box to put stuff in," I tell Tasha, but I look back when I hear her and the others laugh. She is already holding a box.

"Where did that come from?"

"It was sitting by the counter, so I grabbed it." I shrug my shoulder and start to pull stuff out of the pantry.

It doesn't take long, and we have a bunch of snack stuff for the kids, and the adults packed up. I am showing Tasha the way to the safe house. I am not sure why we call it a safe house. It is part of the packhouse. There is a hidden door in the hall. I open it and flip the light switch for the entrance and steps leading down. It leads to another door that locks from the inside. The only way it can be opened once locked is if someone from inside opens it. I push the door open, turn the lights on, and hear Tasha gasp.

"This is huge."

"Yes, it is. It is larger than the bottom story of the house. It is underground. Bastien wanted to make sure it was always large enough to hold all the women and children."

"Bastien sounds like a smart Alpha."

"Yes, he is, but don't tell him that his head will swell," I tell her, then we both laugh. We both set our bags down, and I hear movement from the top of the stairs. I stick my head out the door and see mom along with some of the women from the pack.

"We made it, and they all have some things," Mom says, smiling at me.

"I need to go see if the women from Kane's group are ready. I will be right back. You can help them start getting things situated." I tell mom as I start to make my way back up the stairs and to the kitchen. I hear mom begin to bark orders, and I can't help but laugh. There is right much movement in the house with women and children still coming in from the pack and heading to the safe house. I finally make it back to the kitchen, and all the children and women are here. Abby runs up, grabbing my arm.

"I was getting ready to come looking for you." She said, smiling.

"Do you all have everything you need?" I asked, and they all shook their heads to say yes.

"Then follow me," I say and take Abby's hand as we make our way back. I smile at Abby to show that everything is ok.

"Is everyone going to be ok?" Abby asks, and the fact she has to ask that question breaks my heart.

"Yes, we are only doing this to be on the safe side. We are just going to set the room up if we need it. This way, everyone knows where the room is and can be safe if you need it." I tell her, still smiling. I want her comfortable here. I hate that they are all going through this. We make it back to the top of the stairs, and I motion them to go ahead. I smile at them as they all start to descend the stairs. I fall in behind the last child and make it to the bottom. I look around, and there are more of us now, but at least the room is large enough. Mom looks at me, smiling as the women get stuff set up. Then I hear a large boom outside the house. I turn and run for the door.

"Lock this door. Do not unlock it unless I tell you to."

"Wait, you can't go, Raine," Mom says, trying to get to the door.

"I have to, and you have to make sure everyone here is safe, so please lock the door, mom. I will be back." I can see the hesitation in her eyes, but I start up the stairs anyway, and I hear the door latch and the locks engage. When I reach the top, I shut the hideaway door and head toward the noise.
