Fifty seven - When dreams leave scars

Fifty seven - When dreams leave scars
Aria’s POV

Mum and Jack will not be coming home this night and as much as that makes me feel very relieved and safe but it has also kept me hungry considering my dearest Mother locked the kitchen leaving absolutely nothing for me to eat. Normally on days this would happen, I would go over to Lev’s and lie Mum asked me to stay over for the night but Lev and I are you know…so I just have to go to be on an empty stomach, hopefully Isla would be able to hold off the worms.

Soft soothing air blew my skin as I looked around my surroundings trying to make out where I was. It is a garden with so many beautiful flowers everywhere ranging in colors, height, and even the different scents they contributed to the atmosphere. I couldn’t help the joy that filled my heart as I twirled around loving the feel of everything ... so homely, so too good to be true.

I walked closer to a blossoming sunflower taking a sniff of it, satisfaction in my heart but it was short-lived as I heard them.

Two Voices. A woman and a little boy.

They were talking in low calm voices like they knew I was here and that made me uneasy but something in me kept pushing to find out. I headed towards the voices quietly to avoid being heard or seen.

“You will understand one day my child, but for now we can only do our best” The woman sighed, she sounded and looked really exhausted and I have a feeling it has nothing to do with her protruding stomach. I could only make out the slump in her shoulders and shakiness in her breath but no matter how hard I tried to see their faces it was like something was blocking it.

She was seated on a bench with her attention solely fixed on her little boy while the little boy was kneeling in front of her stomach whispering to it like the baby could hear him and I don’t know why but warmth filled my heart at the gesture.

“Mum is scared she may not be able to protect you but I will protect you and protect her too,” He said with so much determination but I couldn’t miss the fear in his voice too. His voice was shaky but he was doing his best to hide it. The woman’s eyes were filled with love as she smiled at her little boy who was trying so hard to be strong for her. A pang of jealousy hit me, no one has ever looked at me with so much motherly affection not even Bethany and here this little child is getting so much I wonder what he will do with the overflowing one probably share it with his little sibling. How it feels to be loved so dearly by your mother.

“You are so strong my child and I have no doubts you will do great things” The woman whispered softly to him but her voice was filled with so much fear I was starting to feel it too. What is she so scared about? Everything looks so good and well for them.

Something in me stirred in discomfort as the skies suddenly turned dark, the woman gasped in shock and fear holding her stomach protectively while the little boy urged his mother to remain behind him if he could fight off whatever was coming. I tried to make out their faces once again as they were both facing my direction but it was clear they couldn’t see me either.

“You can’t stop destiny, you can only delay it” The woman yelled, she was already crying like something bad had happened. She obviously knew what was happening but couldn’t do anything about it.
“Mum please let us go back into the house” The boy urged, trying to pull his Mum towards the opposite direction.

A loud growl sounded from a distance startling me, I almost didn’t see it with how fast it was moving, like a shadow not a wolf, wolves are never that fast, or are they?

“Go now, Mum please” The boy cried out, still standing protectively in front of his mother. What the hell are they both thinking? He is too little to fight off this beast and she is too heavy to do so either, where is everyone else? Doesn’t she have a mate or husband?

“Get out of here” I yelled out in fear for their lives but they didn’t look my way. They can’t fucking see me how will they hear me?

The best stopped in front of the little boy who was breathing heavily, his fear leaking off him but he didn’t back down, he didn’t waver. Without a word, the wolf grabbed the little boy with its paw and flung him to the side like he didn’t mean anything, the woman and I screamed at the same time. She cried cradling her stomach even more whispering to herself as the wolf sniffed her like it was looking for something.

Just when I thought it was going to kill her, his head turned and looked at ME.

I shot up from bed with tears streaming down my face and pains all over. My head felt like it had been smashed over and over again. It even hurts to move it.

Another dream…only it didn't feel like one. This one felt even more real than the first one like I was there but I wasn't.

What does all of this mean? Who are these people?

I attempted to stand from my bed but a sharp pain shot up my spine keeping me in place, I cried out holding on to my sides as the pain felt like it was spreading, twisting my sides without mercy.

“What is this pain?” Everything after the wolf looked at me is all a blur, I went into shock when I realized the wolf could see me even when the woman and the boy couldn't.

I slowly lifted my top and froze.

A gasp escaped my lips at the condition of my body. Scratches covered my skin, deep and fresh with blood oozing out of them, wolf marks…..I don't remember fighting that beast.
I don’t even remember touching it.

So how did it touch me?

A warm trickle slid down my upper lip landing on my thighs...red....blood...that was all that filled my head as I stared at the drop on my thigh.
I slowly touched my nostrils, gasping as I looked at my hand.

My nose was bleeding, slow, steady, and far too calm for the chaos inside me.

I wasn’t feeling any pain there but blood pooled from there...this isn't normal in any way.
