Chapter 692 Paxon Proposes
Chapter 692 Paxon Proposes
Victoria's bright eyes glistened with tears as she looked up at Paxon.
She asked curiously, "What surprise? Why all the mystery?"
She seemed casual about it, but her heart was racing for no reason.
A thought flashed through her mind.
She seemed nervous yet excited at the same time.
Paxon covered her eyes and led her into the basement theater.
Victoria's curiosity grew stronger. As she walked, she kept asking, "Paxon, where are you taking me?"
Paxon pushed open the theater door and removed his hand from Victoria's eyes, his voice full of affection.
"Baby, you can open your eyes now."
Victoria immediately opened her eyes to see the theater filled with colorful lights.
Each beam was a different color, and inside each circle of light was a photo of them.
Victoria ran over excitedly.
The first thing she saw was herself as a newborn, with Paxon sitting on the bed, smiling at her with his eyes crinkled.
There was also a shot of him kissing her cheek.
Victoria's heart started beating faster without her realizing it. She pointed at the photo and said, "Look at you, you've had your eye on me since I was little."
Paxon nodded without hiding it. "Haven't you heard that saying? You have to raise your wife from childhood. Look at the card next to it."
Victoria curiously opened the card to see wobbly handwriting with several misspelled words.
"Victoria, even though you're not very pretty right now, I don't mind. Hurry up and grow up, I'm waiting for you."
Just reading these words, she could imagine how cute Paxon must have been back then.
Victoria couldn't help teasing, "You're saying I'm ugly. I'm not going to marry you."
Paxon smiled and ruffled her hair. "All newborn babies look funny. My Victoria was already pretty beautiful."
"That's more like it."
She pouted at Paxon and continued looking.
What followed were photos of her and Paxon growing up together, beautiful memories from different times.
Only now did Victoria realize that without knowing it, they had spent twenty-two years together.
During these 22 years of waiting, Paxon had been constant in his feelings for her.
When she cried, he would patiently comfort her.
When she threw tantrums, he would quietly stay by her side until she smiled again.
Paxon showed up for every important moment in her life.
Even if it meant skipping class or being late, he would be there.
The last scene was from the day Paxon went abroad. She stood at the airport with red eyes, saying goodbye to him.
She remembered clearly how Paxon looked at her reluctantly.
His voice was filled with helplessness.
"Victoria, I'm leaving and won't bother you anymore. I hope you grow up well and wait for me to come back."
Remembering all this, Victoria couldn't help but cry.
Throughout this long wait, Paxon had given her all his patience and care.
But she had never thought about his feelings.
She only wanted freedom and fun, never taking their relationship seriously.
She had never responded to his feelings.
Yet all these years, Paxon had never given up on loving her.
His constant affection for her was shown completely.
Victoria looked at Paxon through teary eyes, her voice a bit hoarse. "Paxon, are you mad at me?"
Paxon smiled and pinched her cheek. "Why would I be mad at you?"
"Because I made you wait so long, because I complained about you controlling me."
Paxon bent down, looking deeply into her eyes. "Liking you is my choice. Growing up with you is something I did willingly. I just hope my Victoria won't feel any pressure to marry me. I'm not waiting to fulfill our families' arrangement, but for my Victoria to truly fall in love with me. Understand?"
Hearing this, Victoria's tears flowed even harder.
She sniffled and said, "Why are you so good? If you were even a little bit bad to me, I wouldn't feel so sad."
Paxon gently wiped her tears with his thumb, saying affectionately, "Baby, don't cry. Can you answer one question for me?"
Victoria nodded through her tears. "I know what you want to ask. Paxon, I've liked you since I was little. When I grew up, I liked being around you too. Later during my rebellious phase, I complained about you controlling me and taking away my freedom. But I didn't really hate you. I was just angry seeing other girls getting close to you, and I was too embarrassed to say it.
I also misunderstood your kindness, thinking it was all because of our families' arrangement, that you didn't really like me that much.
I wanted a passionate love, not one tied together by an arrangement.
Do you understand what I mean?"
Hearing her response for the first time, Paxon felt like the whole world became colorful.
He cupped Victoria's face with both hands and kissed her eyes.
"I understand, but what I want to tell you is that I like you not because of any arrangement, but because that person is you. Understand?"
"So you can keep liking me like this, and never change your mind for the rest of your life?"
"Yes, I, Paxon, will only love Victoria in this lifetime. I swear to God."
"What if I get ugly someday? You still can't leave me."
"That day will never come. Baby, any other questions?"
Victoria's bright eyes blinked at Paxon, her voice soft and sweet. "If I say no, does that mean you're going to kiss me next?"
Paxon looked at her cute expression and smiled, kissing her forehead.
"Kissing you comes later. We still have one more important thing to do."
He called toward the door, "Everyone come in."
At his command, the door opened.
A crowd of people rushed in.
They were all from the major families.
Olivia, wearing a white princess dress and carrying a flower basket, ran in on her little legs.
As she ran, she said, "Aunt Victoria, this is from Uncle Paxon."
She handed the flower basket to Victoria.
Victoria took it and immediately saw a delicate little box inside.
Seeing this, she instantly understood what Paxon was planning.
She looked at him in surprise. "You, what do you mean?"
Paxon took the small box from the flower basket and slowly opened it.
A pink diamond ring sparkled brilliantly under the lights.
He knelt on one knee, took Victoria's hand, and said gently, "Victoria, this ring won't take away your freedom. It only represents my love for you. Wear it, and you can still be that cute, lively, and slightly rebellious Victoria. I won't control anything you do. I'll only love you more than before.
Victoria, will you marry me?"
Hearing such a confession, it would be a lie to say she wasn't moved.
For her sake, Paxon had changed his domineering ways.
He said she could be that carefree little princess, without worrying about being 'Mrs. Winters.'
How could she not love a man like this?
Before Victoria could speak, everyone behind her shouted in unison, "Say yes, say yes."
Victoria looked at Paxon's deeply affectionate face and slowly extended her hand.
