Chapter 87 We’re done
~After one week~
Arthur reported to the police after he didn’t hear from Aurora for four days. And since he reported, the police have been working hard to find her, but it was yet to yield any success.
Arthur was down in worries and refused to talk or see anyone. He would lock himself up in his room, thinking of how messed up his life was.
‘If only she could come back and let me explain.” He thought, with his head lowered in sadness.
Just then, he heard the doorbell ring from his room, but he ignored it. Carter, Derick and some other friends of his had been visiting him frequently to check up on him, even though he refused to see them.
Theo went to get the door and when he opened it, to his greatest surprise, it was Aurora, standing at the door.
“Aurora!” He yelled in surprise, and Arthur’s ears caught her name.
“Aurora?!” His eyes widened as he sprang up to his feet and ran out of his room, heading to the living room.
“Hi, Theo.” She uttered coldly, walking into the house.
“Oh my… we have been so worried about you! We thought something had happened to you!” Theo responded, examining her body in worry.
Arthur came into sight, his eyebrows lifted in awe as he stared at Aurora. “Aurora.” He called, making both of them look at him.
Aurora gulped hard as their eyes met, and she watched him move closer to her.
“Oh God, thank God you are back.” He added as he wrapped his arms around her, but she remained unfazed.
“I’m not back. I came to say my final goodbye to the boys.” She uttered, slightly pushing him off her.
“What are you talking about? What do you mean by your final goodbye?” Arthur asked in confusion.
“I should leave now. I’ll be upstairs if you need me.” Theo uttered, walking away.
“Don’t you get it? We are done.”
“No, Aurora. We are not done. This is what Anita wants, we can’t give that to her! She doesn’t want us to be together.”
“Oh really?” She scoffed. “You knew that and still went ahead to sleep with her.”
“I was unconscious when it happened! I was drugged by her. This was all her plan. You would know because she had to set up the camera. It was without my consent, okay? I still can’t recall what happened.”
“It doesn’t matter how it happened. She’s with your child. You can’t deny the baby isn’t yours. Can’t you see, Arthur? The world is against us being together. The earlier we accept that, the better. It should have just ended when I gave birth to your kids.”
“No, Aurora. Please don’t say that. We are meant to be together and you know this. We just have to keep fighting against these evil people that want to separate us.”
“No, Arthur. I’m done fighting, okay? It’s useless. You should never have allowed her into your home in the first place, but you did. Because you can’t do without her and that is the truth! Now, I’m telling you that you can have her and never have to worry about what I think.
“I’m done getting hurt by you, Arthur and nothing you say will change that.”
Arthur gulped hard, thinking about what to say to her, but he couldn’t come up with anything. But he couldn’t just let her go.
‘She’s the love of my life, not Anita.’ He said to himself.
“Give me a few days, and I promise to sort whatever the hell Anita thinks is going to happen between us.”
“It’s of no use. Have you ever been online at all? Have you seen how badly they are making jest of us being a couple? It’s never going to work. I must confess that Anita has won.”
“Aurora…” The sound of the door opening interrupted Arthur’s words. They looked at the door and saw the boys walk in in their uniforms.
“Mom?!” Rowan yelled after he happened to see her first.
“Mom!!” They all chorused as they ran toward her. With tears in her eyes, Aurora went on her knees as she prepared to receive them in her arms.
“Where have you been?! You made everyone worried.” Ryan uttered as they disengaged from the hug.
“Mummy had to take some time away from daddy and all the drama.”
“Away from daddy? What did he do wrong? It was aunty Anita, not dad.” Riley answered, and Aurora’s jaw dropped.
She raised her head to look at Arthur in disbelief. “You told them?!”
“What? No, of course not. I didn’t say a word to them. Maybe it’s because of what happened at the wedding.” Arthur answered in his defense.
“What are you not telling us? What really happened, mum?” Ryan asked as his gaze shifted from hers to Arthur’s simultaneously.
“I have something to say to you.” Aurora started.
“No, Aurora. Let’s talk about this first. You shouldn’t say anything to them.” Arthur retorted, but Aurora ignored him.
“Listen carefully, boys. Your father and I can’t be together anymore.”
The boys’ eyes widened upon hearing this. They looked at each other trying to see if any of them understood who was going on.
“But you just got married.” Ryan added.
“Not yet, Ryan. We are yet to be declared husband and wife by the priest.”
“But you exchanged rings already. Your souls are tied together already.” Riley uttered, and the boys nodded in agreement.
They looked for the ring on her fighter but it was gone. They looked at Arthur’s finger and found out he still had his ring on.
“Are you mad at daddy?” Rowan asked tearily.
“No, my love. But we have realized that we are not meant to be together. We can only be friends.” Aurora uttered, trying not to sound bad.
“What? But you have us! You’re supposed to be a couple.” Ryan insisted with a frown, and Arthur let out a deep sigh.
“Boys, please go to your rooms, okay? Your mother and I need to talk.” He said to them, and they nodded reluctantly, carrying their bags and walking away.
“You should explain better to them. I’ll take my leave now.” Aurora uttered coldly, turning away from Arthur.
“Are you sure you want to do this? Aurora, we should fight this together.”
“No, we shouldn’t. We should stay away from each other to avoid getting hurt. That’s exactly what we should do. I have to go now. I can’t leave him waiting.” She responded, making her way to the door.
“Him? Who is him?” Arthur asked curiously as he followed behind her.
“That is my business. Not yours.”
