Chapter 61 A plan?
Anita whistled and danced sexily in her nightgown as she prepared dinner for Arthur. She refused to stop pestering Theo until he gave her a meal she could work with.
She started making Chicken and chips as she waited for him to come back home. Her health was getting better and she believed it was time for her to move forward.
‘He cares about me, now it’s time to make sure he loves me and can’t do without me.’ She thought to herself, a little smirk crept on her face as she watched the chicken roast.
She loved that Aurora had to go away furious after she found her there. ‘At least, now she knows who owns him.’ She muttered happily.
While she cooked, Ryan and Riley walked into the kitchen to get a bottle of water, and then they saw her.
With an unfazed look, they ignored her and proceeded to the fridge to help themselves out.
“Hi, boys! How are you tonight?” She asked with a wide grin as she approached them. They still ignored as Ryan got his hand on the bottle of water and shut the fridge.
“Let’s go Riley,” Ryan said, and as they made their way to the door, Anita hastily got in front of them and made them stop.
“Hey, boys. I greeted you two. How are you?” She kept her smile wide, lowering her upper body so she could level with their heights.
“We heard, but we don’t want to reply.” Ryan shrugged.
“What? Why is that?” Anita pouted. “Is that because you don’t know who I am? Okay, fine. I’ll give you a brief introduction about me.”
“I am Anita, and I’m your father’s closest friend. I am here right now in your house because I’m in a situation, and Arthur is helping me out of it. Though, it’s going to take a while before he can help me figure it out. I’d love us to be friends so that our living together can be peaceful, okay?”
“The only closest friend to my father is Uncle Derick.” Riley uttered with a frown on his face.
“No, I meant that I am his female closest friend…”
“No, that would be our mother. He has no business with other females except her. And we don’t like you! Right, Riley?” Ryan asked confidently, looking at Riley.
“No, we don’t. For our mother not to like you, you are a bad person. My mother has never told us to stay away from anyone before, but you. That is a bad sign.” Riley added, and Ryan bobbed.
“We will live peacefully when you leave this house.” Ryan added too, took Riley’s hand in his and pulled him out of the kitchen.
Anita remained where she was, her jaw dropped in awe at the attitude of the boys to her. “Those punks” She cursed underneath her breath.
As they got to the living room, Riley remembered one more thing he badly wanted to say to her. So he snatched his hand from Ryan and ran back to the kitchen.
“You are not invited to our birthday party!” He yelled at her from the door before returning to the living room again.
“Yes! I forgot to say that to her.” Ryan replied, and Riley laughed. “Don’t worry, I took care of it already.”
“Let’s go and discuss how we are going to make daddy get rid of her.” Ryan uttered and they both ran into the room to meet Rowan, who was busy reading through his notes.
“Rowan!” They chorused as they ran up to him and sat next to him on the bed.
“Yes.” Rowan answered, closing his book to pay attention to whatever he wanted to say.
“We need to work together, okay? We all don’t like Anita. Why don’t we try to get rid of her?” Ryan asked.
“How are we going to do that? We are kids, remember?” Rowan answered.
“That is the best part! We are going to be using that as an opportunity! We need to let our father know that she isn’t a good person, just like mum said.” Ryan added, and they both nodded.
“We need to do it before our birthday. I don’t want to see her there. She’s like a bad omen.” Riley uttered.
“Hold on. That means we have roughly a week to come up with a plan.” Rowan stated in discouragement. He wondered how they were going to make it happen in just a week.
“We are going to come up with a plan, Rowan. Don’t worry. We are smart kids, remember? She’ll never mess up with us or our family ever again!” Ryan answered, letting out a smirk.
Arthur returned home to meet Anita setting up the table. He creased his brows and rushed up to her.
“Arthur, you’re back.”
“What are you doing?! You should be resting!” He exclaimed, collecting the plate from her and placing it on the table.
“I wanted to prepare dinner for you. Don’t be mad at me.” She mumbled, leaning onto the dining table weakly.
“I never asked you to do this. Theo prepares the meal, not you! You don’t have to make me dinner, okay? That isn’t why you are here. You should be working on getting that man so you can finally get to live your life.” Arthur responded, reaching for her hand and holding her so he could help her sit.
“Thank you so much, Arthur. For caring about me.” She answered as she sat, and he shook his head.
“Don’t thank me. I am nice to everyone. Just don’t do this again. Stay in your room and rest.”
She nodded slowly, letting out a soft smile. “Can you at least taste it? I tried my best. Believe me.” She muttered, pointing to the food and looking at him.
Arthur let out a deep sigh and shook his head in disbelief. “Theo!” He called out, and waited for him to show up.
“Mr Arthur,” Theo answered, taking long strides toward the direction of his voice.
“Why did you let her do this?” Arthur asked angrily, pointing to the plates.
“Boss, I tried talking her out of it, but she didn’t listen. She insisted that she'd prepared it. I’m sorry, Mr. Arthur.” Theo apologized.
“Arthur, it’s not his fault, okay? I wanted to.” Anita uttered, touching Arthur's hand asif she was trying to calm him down.
Arthur swallowed and nodded. “Did you prepare dinner for the kids too?” He further asked Theo, and Theo nodded.
“Yes. I did and they have eaten.” Theo answered.
“Good. You can return to your business. Thank you. And please, make sure this doesn’t happen again.” He told, and Theo nodded.
“Yes sir.”
Just when he left, the boys ran out of the room to meet Arthur. “Daddy!” They called excitedly, running into his open arms.
“My boys!” Arthur greeted, embracing each of them.
“You are back early today.” Rowan uttered. “And that is good because we would love to tell you something!” Ryan added.
Arthur creased his brows as he watched the boys talk happily.
“Okay? What do you want to tell me? I’m so curious right now. “
“Let’s go to our room!” Riley answered, reaching for his hand and pulling him.
“Arthur, wait! You have not eaten. Your food will get cold.” Anita uttered from behind.
“I’ll come back to eat it as soon as I’m done with the boys. You should go to bed, okay?” Arthur answered, letting the boys pull him away.
Ryan looked back at her and smirked again. ‘You are going to regret coming into our house.’
