Chapter 30 What did I miss?
“But if you want to go, then you can go. I can just call my doctor.” Arthur mumbled, trying to reach for his phone.
“I already canceled on him, Arthur. I can’t go back again.” Aurora answered, dropping her bag and rushing into the bathroom to get the water and towel.
When she was out of the room, Arthur turned to look at Ryan and chuckled.
“This stays between us.” He whispered to him.
“Chocolate?” Ryan asked, stretching his hand to him.
“Ask Theo to give all of you. He still has some chocolates in the store.” He answered, still speaking in a low tone.
The boys excitedly got off the bed and ran out of the room to fetch Theo.
As soon as Aurora came out of the bathroom, Arthur pointed to the door. “Can you please lock that? I don’t want the boys coming to disturb me again.” Arthur said to her, and she nodded, heading to the door to lock it.
Locking the door, she approached Arthur’s bed and sat next to him, placing the bowl of water on the bedside table.
While she soaked the towel with water, Arthur couldn’t just take his eyes off her. She was so gullible and he loved it.
“I don’t want her to go out with him. I never want to see them together, ever again. Not for any other reason but for the fact that I don’t like him. He just doesn’t seem like a good man.” Arthur said to himself, as she began to clean his body.
“Why?” He asked, and she raised her head to look at him.
“Why what?”
“Why are you so nice to me? Why do you care so much?”
Aurora smiled feebly and shrugged. “I’m not sure. Maybe I just want to make it up to you for what I did five years ago. Regardless of anything you did to me, I still hurt you. I broke the rules. I’m just doing this to show you I’m not totally a bad person.
“I was just scared then. I was scared about what would happen to me if those beauties were taken from me. I was scared for the boys themselves. And I acted on impulse which was wrong.
“I just want you to forgive me. I truly…”
“I forgive you.” Arthur answered, and her eyes slowly widened, a wide smile curving up her lips.
“What?”
“You heard me. I’ve forgiven you.” Arthur answered, stull keeping his eyes locked with her.
“Really? Thank you so much.” Aurora uttered excitedly, and Arthur’s face slowly lit up.
“So now that I’ve forgiven you. Are you going to stop being nice?” Arthur asked, and Aurora’s smile slowly washed away.
She moved her head closer to his, her face turned red before she realized.
“Do you want me to stop being nice?” She asked in a low voice, her breath slowly caressing Arthur’s face.
“No, I don’t.” His gaze slowly moved down her face and rested on her lips. Aurora noticed this, and her face flushed even more.
“Erm.” She gulped, trying to move away, but Arthur suddenly grabbed her by the hand, and pulled her closer to him.
He turned over, making her lie on the bed while he was on top. Aurora’s eyes widened and her heart began to thump against her chest as it all happened so fast.
“Wh… what are you doing?” She asked, turning her head to the side as Arthur stared at her shamelessly.
“Look at me.” He muttered softly, causing Aurora to shiver.
‘What the hell is going on right now?’ She asked herself, still keeping her eyes off him.
“I said look at me, Aurora.” He uttered again, still speaking as calm as possible.
She swallowed hard and slowly moved her face back to its initial place. She raised her eyes so they could meet his again.
But instead of him looking in her eyes, he was staring at her lips.
“Do it again.”
“Do what again?” She asked in confusion.
“The kiss. Do it again.” He uttered, and her eyes popped wide open.
“What?? The one time I did it, you ended up drinking yourself to stupor, and you’re yet to recover from…”
Before she could finish talking, Arthur lowered himself closer to her and covered her lips with his.
Aurora’s eyes blinked severally as she tried to process what was going on. He locked his lips with hers, without moving them.
He wanted to know if she was going to open up to him, which she did.
Hee eyes fell shut as she parted her mouth, letting him dive deeper. She wasn’t sure why, but she wanted to kiss him too.
Gradually, their lips began to move rhythmically, and just when Arthur was about to introduce his tongue, his phone vibrated in his pocket, causing them to stop.
“Sorry.” He muttered, reaching for his phone, while Aurora bit her lips, avoiding his eyes.
He saw the caller, and he clenched his jaw, heaving a frustrated sigh.
“Who is it?” She asked, and he moved from on top of her and sat on the bed.
He showed her his phone and she saw it was Danielle calling.
“Why don’t you want to answer it?” Aurora asked, swallowing hard. ‘Why does she have to call now?’
“I don’t want to talk to her.” Arthur retorted, placing his phone on the bedside table.
“Why? Aren’t you two… together?” Aurora further inquired, and Arthur sighed.
He reached for the phone and answered it, putting it on speaker.
“What do you want, Danielle?” He asked.
“I’m in your living room. I came to see the boys. Are you in your room? I can come up right now to see you.” She uttered in an excited voice, and Arthur looked at Aurora.
“I told you to stay away, Danielle.” Arthur muttered, standing up from the bed and heading out of the room.
“Why? I’m not doing anything wrong.”
“I paid you for your act and I’m done acting, okay? Just leave.” He answered, heading down the stairs.
Danielle looked up and saw him approaching. The boys were in the living room already and so was Theo.
“You should leave.” Arthur muttered coldly as he hung up and walked up to her.
“Why? Fine, I know we were acting, but can’t it be real? I really like you Arthur.” Danielle mumbled, reaching for his face, but he moved away.
“Don’t, Danielle. We aren’t doing this.” Arthur muttered, moving away from her.
“Fine. Later then. What of your maid? Isn’t she home? I’m thirsty.” She said with a chuckle, catwalking to the couch again.
“She is not a maid, okay? Watch the way you talk to her.” Arthur retorted in a defensive tone.
Aurora who stood on the stairs, staring at them, heard Arthur’s response, causing her to raise her brows.
“What? She was a maid the last time I was here.”
“Well things change. Don’t you ever call her that. Ever again.” Arthur added, causing Theo’s jaw to drop too.
‘What did I miss?’
