Chapter 29 Make daddy better

Chapter 29 Make daddy better
Placing his soup on the table, Aurora sat at the dining table, and waited for him to dive in.

She couldn’t stop smiling, believing she and Arthur just had a moment in the kitchen.

“Do you have to watch me eat?” Arthur asked, picking up the spoon and scooping some soup.

“Yes. I have to make sure you finish all of it. It will help your hangover and fever.” Aurora answered.

He heaved a sigh and slowly nodded, covering the spoon with his mouth as he took some porridge in.

Arthur's face lit up again in reaction to the taste of the porridge satisfying his taste buds even more than it did when he tasted it in the kitchen.

“Why does the taste of my food cause a reaction on your face all the time?” Aurora asked with a chuckle, and he smirked.

“Maybe because it tastes so good? Where did you learn how to cook?” He asked.

“Well, I didn’t learn it. I kept doing it over and over again until I got better. My mother isn’t such a great mother, so she hardly cooked for me even when I was young. So I had to do it myself. Kept experimenting in the kitchen until I got better.”

“Hmm.” Arthur answered, slightly nodding. “You still haven’t told me where she is.” He added, and Aurora scoffed.

“She left. Before you even found us. She was so mad I was dating Jimmy instead of the son of the rich man she proposed. We kept fighting over it for months, until she gave up and left days before you appeared.” Aurora further explained.

Arthur knew he was supposed to be mad about her mother leaving because she was supposed to be punished too, but then, unconsciously, something else was getting him angry.

And that happened to be that Aurora mentioned dating Jimmy.

He replied and said, “So… Jimmy… are you two still together?” He asked, scooping out another portion of soup.

“Well, we haven’t talked since we last saw each other. He’s probably still very mad at me.” Aurora muttered, letting out a sad sigh.

Arthur looked at her and noticed she had a sad expression on her face.

“And have you tried reaching out to him?” He further asked, not because he was concerned but because he was curious to know if she still wanted to go out with him.

“I did for a long time, but I still haven’t gotten a response from him. He is probably still very mad at me for what I did. I just wish we can be cool again.” Aurora muttered, causing Arthur to scoff.

“Of course. Great.” He muttered under his breath.

Just then, Aurora's phone began to ring. Arthur raised his head to look at her and saw how fast her countenance changed.

“He’s calling!” She uttered in awe, looking at Arthur.

“Who?” He asked, creasing his brows.

“Jimmy! It’s like he heard what I said.” Aurora uttered in excitement as she answered the phone.

“Jimmy?” She called with a wide grin.

Arthur stared at her in disbelief as she stood up from the dining area and slowly walked away to talk to him.

“Hi, Aurora. How are you?” Jimmy asked, pacing in his living room.

“I’m very well, thank you. You finally decided to return my calls. I’m sorry, Jimmy. For what happened. I shouldn’t have…”

“It’s okay, Aurora. You don’t have to apologize anymore. I’ve had the space I needed, and I’m back now.” Jimmy answered.

“You’re back now?”

“Are you free tonight? I’d love to take you out.” He uttered.

Aurora turned to look at Arthur who couldn’t get his eyes off her as she spoke over the phone.

“Jimmy…”

“You can’t tell me no, Aurora. You still have to make it up to me, okay? So let’s meet tonight. Let’s talk things through. I’ve missed you.” Jimmy added, while Arthur and Aurora stared at each other.

“Okay. See you then.” She answered, letting out a faint smile and looking away from Arthur.

“Great. Thank you, Aurora. See you at 7 pm. I’ll come and pick you up.” He added, and Aurora nodded, swallowing hard.

After she got off the call, she walked back to the dining area.

Arthur placed the spoon next to the empty bowl of porridge and picked up a napkin to clean his hand.

“You finished it.” Aurora uttered, and he nodded.

“Yes. I did.” He responded coldly.

An awkward silence set in as they both kept looking elsewhere except for their faces.

“So… are you two back together now?” Arthur asked, carrying the tray.

“Hey! I can carry it.” Aurora rushed to him to collect the tray from him, but he prevented her from doing it.

“It’s fine. I can carry it.” Arthur responded, moving away from her presence and heading to the kitchen.

Aurora heaved a sigh and followed behind him.

“Well, it isn’t like we are back together, but he wants us to meet tonight. It’s the least I can do to make it up to him for how I hurt him.” She uttered, and he nodded.

“Great.” He dumped the tray in the zinc, causing a loud noise which made Aurora wince.

“Can I go?” She asked, and Arthur turned to look at her before he opened the tap.

“Why are you asking me that?”

“Because I live in your house, and I need to make sure you are cool with that.”

“Why wouldn’t I be cool with it? We all mind our businesses in his mansion, don’t we? You’re free to do whatever you want.” Arthur answered in a cold manner, walking past Aurora and heading out of the kitchen.

Aurora smirked as she watched him leave. “I won’t stay long, okay?!” She yelled from inside the kitchen.

“I don’t care.” Arthur muttered, moving up the stairs in fury.

Theo returned with the boys and they met Aurora in their room, doing some cleaning.

“Mummy!” They chorused, running into her arms.

“Hey my boys! Welcome! How was school?” She asked, and they nodded.

“Fine.”

Aurora got their backpacks off their bags and went ahead to give them a shower.

“What of daddy?” Rowan asked while Aurora dried his wet hair with a hand dryer.

“Daddy is in his room.” Aurora answered, and Ryan started running out of the room.

“Ryan! Where are you going?!” Aurora called.

“I’m going to see daddy!” Ryan answered, and almost turned, Riley followed behind him.

“You shouldn’t bother him, boys!” Aurora yelled, but they ignored her and headed to the stairs.

Theo saw them running as he stepped out of the kitchen, and he entered the room where Aurora was.

“Why are they running?” He asked, moving closer to where she sat with Rowan.

“They want to see Mr. Arthur. Thank you once again for picking them up.” She replied, and he shook his head.

“It’s nothing. It’s my job. How is Mr. Arthur now? Is he feeling better?”

“Yes. Yes. He finished the whole bowl of porridge. He’s feeling much better. I’m glad I could help him, and that he let me help him.” She answered, and Theo nodded.

“I think he’s getting softer towards you.” Theo uttered, folding his arms and resting against the wall.

“Well, that’s what I’ve always wanted. I’m glad.” She answered excitedly.

“I’m happy for you too.” He muttered, walking out of the room.

“Theo.” Aurora hastily called, moving closer to him. Theo stopped walking, but didn’t look back at her.

“I hope we are good.”

“Of course, Aurora. We are good. Don’t worry.” He answered, letting out a feeble smile before finally walking away.

Aurora began to prepare for her date with Jimmy. She wore a black dress and put on some silver accessories.

She stood in front of the mirror, taking a final look at herself before heading out when all of a sudden, the kids rushed into her room.

“Mummy!” They called, and she turned to look at them.

“Hey!” She called with a grin.

“Daddy isn’t feeling well! He’s shivering.” Ryan uttered, causing Aurora’s eyes to widen.

“What?” She asked, and without any further delay, she rushed out of her room, heading to Arthur’s room.

“Mr. Arthur?” She called, as she opened his door and walked into his room. She found him under his duvet, and from where she stood, she could see him shivering.

“Oh my… you alright?” She asked, running to the bed. She dropped her bag and phone on the bed and placed her hand on his head.

“You’re burning up again.” She muttered in great worry, and he nodded, gulping hard.

“You should go to the hospital.” Aurora suggested, and before Arthur could respond, her phone began to ring. She saw it was Jimmy calling.

She reached for her phone and answered the call. “Hi, Jimmy.” She uttered, still wallowing in worry for Arthur’s health.

“I’m outside his mansion already.” Jimmy uttered.

“I need you to help me clean my body again.” Arthur muttered to Aurora before she could answer Jimmy.

She blocked the mouthpiece of her phone and moved closer to Arthur. “But I have to go now. Jimmy is waiting for me already.” She whispered to him.

“I’m not feeling well, Aurora. This isn’t the time you should be going out.” Arthur said in a low tone, letting out a dry cough.

“Mummy, make daddy feel better!” Ryan uttered worriedly, climbing the bed and lying next to Arthur.

“Aurora? What’s going on?” Jimmy asked as he could slightly hear voices underneath.

“I’m sorry, Jimmy, but I can’t go out tonight.” She answered, and instantly, a smirk formed on Arthur’s face.
