Chapter 19

“I… there is a bad man in that place, let's call the police ji… otherwise he will kill many more people.” Eli begged while sobbing, his situation was really sad.

"Okay, if that's what you want, but you also have to come with us to the police station. Because you who saw the man means you are an eye witness, how about that? do you agree?" asked the man, he was starting to lose patience and hoped that this problem could be resolved quickly by taking this strange girl to the police station.

Eli was silent for a moment, he didn't know what he was really thinking at the moment. After several minutes of thinking, he finally agreed to the man's words to report to the police station. Eli was fully aware of what would happen after he reported about the mysterious man he had seen in recent days, a man with a terrible face who always dragged packages containing preserved human corpses.

“Okay, we've arrived. As you requested, we have taken you to the police station. Now you can explain to them what you saw around the old factory!” said the man as he opened the car door and invited Eli to get out and enter the police station.

"Come on, come on, Johnny, what was on your mind when you brought that kid here? You want him to report that we hit him, right?" The woman was annoyed, she immediately gritted her teeth to hold back her emotions.

"Never mind, it's better if you just keep quiet, have you seen him? do you think he is sane? look at him and pay attention, don't you hear him continuing to mumble incoherently. He won't say anything, we'd better follow him inside and hear what he has to say to the police.”

The two people looked at Eli for a moment who was still frozen in front of the door, his eyes looking upwards and his mouth continuing to mumble, trying to read the writing that he didn't understand at all.

“Well, I hope you're right. Because I'm really fed up here and I want us to go home immediately!"

The prai just nodded while gesturing him to come in, following Eli, who still looked unsure about what he was going to do.

"Good evening, how can I help you?" said one of the police guards who was sitting alone in the front room.

"A...there was a bad man carrying a corpse..." said Eli in a trembling voice, his body was soaked in sweat.

"Are you sure ? where did you see it?" asked the policeman, two of his colleagues came out of the room and joined the policeman.

“I…I really saw him, I often saw him carrying packages and dragging them.” Eli answered, trying to explain everything he knew.

“You mean you've seen it often? Are you sure that person brought a dead body? What if you see wrong?” asked a black policeman.

"I...I'm not lying..." said Eli, trying to convince the police.

“If there really was a body dumped in this city, there would definitely be people reporting that they found a body. But so far no one has reported that, and have you two seen the mysterious man this child said you were talking about?"

“No sir, we didn't see anything. We were just driving the car and suddenly this girl stopped our car and asked to be taken to the police station, we thought maybe she was lost and we wanted to help her." The woman answered, making up a lie to cover up their actions.

The woman immediately swallowed hard after speaking at length. She immediately looked at Eli who was bowed and didn't seem to argue at all.

"Besides, the factory has been closed for a long time and the old man who lives next to the factory is still alive, if something happened he would have reported it. "Okay, you two can go if you don't need anything anymore and we'll let this girl take care of it."

"Okay sir, thank you, we'll excuse ourselves!" they immediately came out and were relieved that this problem could be resolved even with a few lies.

Eli just looked down and didn't move from his place, the police were confused and suspected that something was wrong with this girl. They looked at Eli, a young girl who was thin and pale, her clothes were dirty, her hair was long and messy, and the parts of her body that were visible were covered in wounds and bruises.

One of the policemen at the station whispered to his friend, he felt sorry for the girl who looked like a homeless person.

"Hey kid..." shouted a policeman who was trying to get Eli to talk.

Eli raised his head slightly, but his eyes were reluctant to look at the police in the room. Their faces looked like they were going to interrogate Eli with various questions.

"What's your name ?" asked one of the police, glaring sharply.

"E...Eli..." Eli stammered his answer.

“Eli huh? okay, Eli, where is your house? we will take you home and there are questions we want to ask your parents.” Said a young policeman as he walked over to Eli who didn't even move an inch from his spot.

Eli just shook his head slowly, not because he didn't want to answer, but because he didn't know his home address, he only knew he lived in a slum housing complex on the edge of town.
