Chapter 20
Chapter 20
|| VALERIA ADDAMS's POV ||
" WHAT DID YOU DO TO ALEX?"
I barged into his office room, frustrated and furious. Even though Alex did wrong to me, I didn't want to ruin his life. I wasn't a dog like him. Pretty sure, Gideon was behind the plot and game.
Natasha chased after me, her piercing eyes on me as he tried to act like a good assistant,
" Boss..I tried to stop her but she.."
" LEAVE!", Gideon blurted, lifting his eyes from the files. He looked charming in his dark grey suit. Subconsciously, I sucked down to my lower lips. He looked hot but he was the devil.
Natasha didn't live, only smiled, assuming that Gideon told me to get out. Gideon furrowed his brows lightly at her, repeating his command,
" I told you to leave us alone, Natasha!"
Natasha seemed surprised a bit. After a moment of anger, she left unhappily. I didn't know why every girl swam over him like a fly. I mean, he was hot but it wasn't that to the point of going crazy all over him.
Gideon replied, standing up from his arm chair,
" He got what he deserved."
I rebuked loudly, feeling guilty for framing an innocent man,
" But I was saved. Why did you have to drag him down to hell then?"
Gideon came forward to face me,his hand shot up to catch my chin hard. Holding it tight, he spat with a growl,
" Stop being so naive! He was a bastard and he deserved it all. Don't come to talk about other men in front of me."
I was momentarily speechless. He sounded..a little jealous more than annoyed. As I opened my lips to say something, he blurted again, bending down to whisper into my ears,
" If your lips say another word...I will have to shut it in a different way. Trust me, you won't like that."
I gritted my teeth together, remembering his sick game. I didn't want a sore ass in his office room. Shooting him glare one more time, I barged out of his office again, straight to the cafeteria. I heard Natasha calling me behind but I wasn't in the mood to hear her lecture.
________
I went back to the house alone. I was still mad at him. Hence, I didn't take his fancy car and rode in a taxi. I had no idea whether he was at home or not since I didn't go down to have dinner today. I told the housemaid that I was having a headache and would like to eat in my room.
She didn't believe me but sent the dinner to my room. After laying for an hour, I couldn't fall asleep and sat up anxiously. I couldn't understand my heart sometimes. It was always there in my mind whether he came back or not.
Getting down from the bed, I grabbed the empty bottle to go down and get water for me. It was just an excuse as I was more interested to know about his whereabouts. Striding through the stairs, I looked around to search for him. It was all dark which meant that he had returned already.
But why wasn't he in his room?
I went to the table to pour the water. My eyes casually looked around and spotted a few men in the yard. From this corner, it seemed like Gideon was sitting there as well.
What were they doing here at this hour? Did they bring Alex here?
Curiosity grabbed my soul. Carrying the bottle in my hand, I walked outside to see what was going on. As soon as my steps went outside, I froze midway to see a man who had been holding down on the ground.
Gideon's men were grounding him, pressing their knees on the old man. He looked around over forty something like aged. The scene looked utterly terrifying. Before I had the urge to question or confront Gideon, the old man let out a sinister smile. His eyes moved to shift on me, whining in pain and at the same time taunting me, reminding us of our past,
" Hello little princess!! "
The bottle in my hands slipped off, hitting the ground with a bang. In a flash of time, I was taken back to my dark childhood. I knew this man too well. He was uncle Martin who worked for my father. But behind his sweet smile, he was a monster worse than an animal.
He assaulted me when I was ten. Even after that, he continued playing the sweet uncle act for years. When I told my nannies, they didn't believe me and only laughed out loud, assuming that I was cracking jokes.
I stumbled a step back, tears forming in my eyes. Memories of that childhood began to display in front of my visions. I could hear my faint cries in my ears, the way he touched me inappropriately.
Martin continued, even though he was pressed down by them,
" You have grown up..so big..hmmm.."
Gideon's voice snapped me out of my daze, his eyes narrowing at me,
" You know him?? How do you know this man?"
I couldn't say a word to his question. My childhood traumas returned, hitting me like a strong wave of emotions. I started sobbing silently like the helpless child I was back at the time.
Gideon frowned hard at my face, asking again to soften his tone,
" Stella! You know Martin??"
I choked on my tears badly. Without a word, I spun around to run away from the yard. Gideon kept calling me back but I was already running to my room. I needed to hide myself from that sinister man. Once I was alone in the room, I burst into tears, holding my head down. I wanted to erase that part of memory from my head but it was stuck in my head, never coming out and giving me forever traumas.
I kept weeping like a child, rubbing my body as if it still had the dirt of his touch. I could no longer care about what Gideon could think of me. As I kept crying, the sound of footsteps missed my eardrums. I thought, Gideon wouldn't even bother to look for me. So, I was crying wholeheartedly until I found him in my room.
Soon the door was pushed open wide, Gideon's tall figure came into the room. Gideon walked to me silently until he was bent down. Looking at my teary eyes, he asked softly,
" How do you know him? Tell me,Valeria! Did that man do something to you? Why are you so scared?"
I was suddenly wide awake to understand the reality. Gideon had already hated me enough. I didn't want him to hate me more. I lied, stuttered and wiped my tears off,
" I..I....I mean..no..he was just known.. Nothing else.."
Gideon didn't seem like he believed me. The following moment, he grabbed me by my arms, pushed me up to ask with a growl,
" You are lying! You have some horrible connection with the man. I don't care what that relationship is but I want you to tell me everything. Tell me!! TELL ME, VALERIA!!!"
He kept shaking and tightening his grip around. He wanted an answer that I couldn't give him. But Gideon was persistent to know the truth. He wasn't going to leave me alone without knowing the truth.
Losing my control over my temper, I pushed him back, far away from me and shouted in despair,
" HE ASSAULTED ME WHEN I WAS A KID!! HE WAS MY FATHER'S ASSISTANT YEARS BACK! HE ALMOST RAPED ME, GIDEON! I...I..I HATE THAT MAN..HE REMINDS ME OFF WHAT HE DID TO ME..I AM SCARED, OKAY??"
