204-His Father Chose A New Mate

204-His Father Chose A New Mate
Yuna:
We had finally left our room to meet Lord Whitlock, as he had requested us to attend the dinner.
It had been at least five days, and I was feeling much better, but I knew I would have to face Michaelson in court again, just as Kedron had warned me.
I did not want to avoid everything from the werewolf world.
I did not want Kedron to keep fighting for me, bending and breaking rules that would make him appear rogue. I did not want that.
I was aware of myself now. I wore a brown dress, and Kedron had curled my hair because he insisted on styling it.
He curled it carefully, then tied a few strands behind my head while leaving some loose around my face, the rest falling freely down my back.
He held my hand and led me to the dining hall.
As soon as we entered, I noticed everyone turning to look at us. Whispers spread around.
I knew what they were thinking, especially about the fact that I was a red wolf.
Of course, that would remain in their minds, even with everything else happening.
That was the main point of contention for now.
“Have a seat,” Lord Whitlock instructed, causing me to glance at Kedron in confusion.
He seemed momentarily lost.
We sat down, and my eyes immediately landed on the empty seat beside him.
That seat had belonged to Lady Jane. My heart ached at the memory.
She had died so soon, so unfairly, and her murderer was still here. Thinking of her murderer, my gaze swept the room for Violet.
Where was she? I felt completely lost.
“I wanted to have a conversation with you all.” His father began, and it sent a shiver up my spine. I had a feeling it was related to me.
"What is it?" Kedron asked his father.
"Well, I have been trying to move on, but it has not been working. I felt lonely," he explained.
As he spoke, Lady Andrea tried to reach for his hand to remind him that he was not alone.
However, he pulled his hand away from her. The disappointment was clear on her face.
Sharlin and Denzel sat together.
I had not spoken with Sharlin since she had been told that I was her husband's mate, so I did not know what her feelings were toward me.
“My sons were busy playing their own games, but I am here now, and I am feeling much better.” As soon as he said that, I could already tell that everyone, at least his sons, felt guilty because it was true that they could not be with him, but the circumstances had made things turn out this way.
"I am glad you are doing better, Father," Kedron remarked in a soft and gentle tone.
"And if you ever need me, I am here as well," Denzel added, reminding his father that he needed to reach out to them more often.
"It is alright. I have always learned to survive," Lord Whitlock stated.
But it did not seem like he was trying to hurt his sons.
"Anyway, I brought you here to announce something. It is good news," Lord Whitlock continued, adding that part quickly so his sons knew he was not talking about any punishment for me.
"Really? I would like to hear that because we have not heard good news in a long time," Kedron replied, and Denzel started to nod his head.
Even Lady Andrea straightened in her seat.
"You know loneliness can make anyone go crazy. So I decided to try and move on because my sons need me and my people need me," Lord Whitlock stated.
This was the first time he sounded cheerful, and I felt something tighten in my gut as if something was wrong.
I knew it was unfair to think that way when a grieving man was trying to cope with his pain, but the feeling remained, and I did not know how to get rid of it.
Silence helped me avoid embarrassing myself.
"So I decided I will give time to my other half." As soon as he said that, I watched Lady Andrea’s eyes widen.
Her face shifted into a kind of happiness I had not seen before.
Her eyes showed a bright glitter as if she had been waiting for this for a long time.
Her head turned toward her man, watching him with clear desire in her expression.
The same look appeared on Denzel’s face. He looked happy.
However, I could tell that it must have been difficult for Kedron because seeing his mother replaced by the woman who had abused his mother was not going to be easy for him.
"With that being said, I hope you will respect me and my decision because I have respected yours as well," Lord Whitlock stated as he pointed at both of his sons.
Denzel was the one to reach for his father's hand and tap the back of it to show his support, and Lord Whitlock already seemed pleased by it.
"I am always with you, Father. Anything that helps you feel better, and I will be happy to see you happy again with your mate," Denzel expressed, his eyes shifting to his mother, who gave him a closed-lipped smile.
I could tell she wanted to burst from happiness, but she was holding it in. Her face had turned red from the intensity of her pleasure.
"What about you, Kedron? Do you not want to see your father happy?" Lord Whitlock asked, and Kedron started to nod his head.
"Of course I do. I will be supportive," he replied.
That was all he said in a defeated tone, and Lady Andrea rolled her eyes before smiling again at Lord Whitlock.
Her hand was ready to slip into her husband's at any moment, and I assumed it was right around the corner.
"So I introduce you to my mate, Violet." Then he shocked us when he announced the name of the woman he was introducing.
Lady Andrea had reached out for his hand with excitement, but as soon as she heard the name, she pulled back.
Everyone, every single one of us, was too stunned to speak.
