Chapter 139 I Will Take Care of You for a Lifetime
Chapter 139 I Will Take Care of You for a Lifetime
This thought was somewhat unbelievable, but once it appeared, Charles couldn't push it down, no matter how hard he tried.
He lay in bed, reaching out to pull Olivia into his arms and kissed her earlobe: "Were you waiting for me?"
"No."
Olivia denied it with her back to him: "I just slept too much during the day, so I couldn't fall asleep right away at night."
Charles's eyes grew heated. He moved closer to her, his lips against her ear: "Since you can't sleep, how about we do something else?"
"No. I'm tired now, I want to sleep."
Olivia pushed against him.
Charles smiled and grabbed her outstretched hand, opened his mouth, took her fingers in, licking them with his tongue for a while, then held her fingers and moved them in and out of his mouth, mimicking their movements during sex.
Olivia's face turned completely red with embarrassment.
She tried hard to pull her fingers away, but Charles gripped them even tighter:
"Didn't you say you wanted to sleep? I'm here to help you sleep now."
"Don't..."
Olivia wanted to refuse, but her voice was quickly swallowed by Charles's mouth.
In the huge bedroom, only the sounds of lips and tongues intertwining remained, along with the wet sounds of bodies colliding.
These sounds continued until almost dawn, then finally disappeared.
After the holiday ended, the Green Group officially reopened, and Charles, as the group's president, became even busier.
Because of Olivia's leg injury, Charles directly requested an extended leave for her.
"I've been taking time off frequently before, and the company never deducted my pay - they kept paying me on time. Now you've requested such a long leave for me, and our boss will probably keep paying my salary."
"He might not mind paying it, but I feel bad taking it. Why don't you just help me resign?"
Olivia suggested, lying sideways on the bed.
Charles, tying his tie by the bed, looked at her in surprise: "Didn't you always refuse to quit before?"
Charles had wanted Olivia to stop working before.
He'd brought it up several times, but Olivia never agreed.
Why was she agreeing so easily this time?
Of course, it was to make it easier to escape later.
Olivia had been planning her departure all along.
Running away, leaving Charles's side, was one thing, but she also needed to settle things with the company. Otherwise, the more people looking for her, the greater the chance of being exposed.
Rather than finding other reasons to resign later, she might as well quit now while recovering from her injury.
Olivia lay lazily on the bed, sighing:
"Before, I was used to working and didn't dare imagine what I could do if I didn't work. Recently, I've been lying at home for so long that I've gotten used to this lifestyle, and I don't want to go back to a life where I have to work overtime all the time."
"Didn't you also say before that you'd take care of me?"
Olivia looked at Charles with dissatisfaction: "What? Are you regretting it? Don't want to take care of me anymore?"
Charles smiled and touched her face: "How could that be? Having you at home waiting for me, seeing you as soon as I get back - I'd be thrilled. How could I regret it?"
"Alright then, I'll handle your resignation directly. From now on, I'll take care of you. For the rest of your life."
He bent down, cupping Olivia's face, and lovingly planted a kiss on her forehead.
Olivia dodged with distaste: "I just don't want to work anymore, not stay home without going out. If not working means staying home all the time, then I'd rather go to work."
As she spoke, she made a show of getting up to get out of bed.
As if she were about to go to work right then.
Charles immediately pressed her back onto the bed: "That's not what I meant. You're free - as long as you're not leaving me, you can go wherever you want."
"You're still worried I'll run away at any moment?" Olivia frowned.
She lay back down on the bed, turning to face away from Charles: "Then I'd better just stay home obediently. Otherwise, the moment I go out, you'll think I'm trying to escape. If one day you lose control of your emotions and take my life, wouldn't that be a huge loss for me?"
"You."
Charles stood by the bed, looking at her helplessly:
"Olivia, your temper has really grown lately."
"I wouldn't dare." Olivia replied coldly, "I'm just a mistress who can't see the light of day. My life and death depend on you, so whatever you say, I have to listen. How would I dare have a temper with you?"
This wasn't having a temper?
Then what would count as having a temper?
Would it only count if she stabbed him in the chest with a knife, and he had to smile while helping her push it in deeper?
Charles thought to himself.
But he didn't say it out loud.
He didn't want to fight with Olivia, and besides, he kind of enjoyed seeing Olivia throw these little tantrums with him.
Only the closest people would make a fuss even when they're being unreasonable.
"I was wrong, Olivia. From now on, in our home, you're the boss. Whatever you tell me to do, I'll do it, okay?"
Charles wisely admitted his mistake.
Olivia gave two light snorts and said nothing else.
Seeing her like this, Charles shook his head with both affection and helplessness.
How did she suddenly develop this kind of temper?
Who spoiled her?
Well, he spoiled her himself.
Since he spoiled her himself, what else could he do but continue to dote on her?
"I'm going to work. If you want to sleep, stay in bed a while longer. If you feel cooped up, just have the servants find a driver to take you out for some air. When you're out, buy whatever you like - don't worry about saving money for me."
Charles kissed Olivia's forehead again and left the bedroom.
Although Olivia said those things, because of her leg injury, she knew her limits and didn't make too much fuss.
Even when she wanted to go out for air, she had the servants and driver accompany her, never acting alone.
Seeing such a well-behaved Olivia, Charles's mood had been getting better and better lately.
When Olivia's legs could finally walk and she was completely free of crutches, Charles brought a box of car keys to Olivia:
"These are all the keys to the cars in the garage. Now that your legs are better, if you want to go out by yourself, take whichever one you like. I've already informed the staff - no one will stop you."
"You're being this nice?" Olivia looked at him suspiciously. "Aren't you worried I'll drive off in your car and run away?"
Charles was speechless.
Although her legs had healed, the topic of "running away" seemed never to go away.
She had to bring it up from time to time.
He was still on guard against Olivia, preventing her from actually running away one day.
But these were all arrangements he made privately - he didn't dare tell Olivia directly, to avoid affecting their relationship.
"I was wrong. I misunderstood you before. Don't worry, I'll never let that happen again." Charles skillfully admitted his mistake.
"If I misunderstand you one more time, you don't need to do it yourself - I'll take a stick and break my own legs."
"That's more like it."
Olivia raised her chin slightly with a proud expression.
She lowered her eyes, carefully selecting from the car keys in the box.
Charles loved this little expression of hers.
He propped his chin up and admired her for quite a while. Seeing her pick out the car key she liked, he carefully made his own request.
