Chapter One Hundred And Eighteen

David

Why does this keep happening to me? Why do I always get cheated on? Was I simply brought into this world for people to betray me? Am I not worthy of some kind of love? Why? Just why?

I watch with tears in my eyes as Max fucks Miguel. They’re so busy that they don’t even notice that someone has already walked in. It’s like the world doesn’t exist to them because they’re together, they’re sharing an intimate moment with each other. Something I thought only me and Max shared.

I don’t move, why don’t I move? Am I too shocked that something like this is happening right now? Am I having major flashbacks of when I caught Ryan doing the same thing? I don’t know, but I’m just not moving, and all I want to do is move.

WHY CAN’T I MOVE?

Why am I crying and standing there when I should be running out, running out and not finding my way back

Miguel gasps when he sees me and he taps Max to let him know that someone is here. But I’m not just someone; I’m his mate, but I’m now going to be his ex-mate because fuck this shit. And fuck him.

“David!” Max yells, looking at Miguel and then looking back at me; he looks around in shock and confusion, acting like he doesn’t know how the fuck this happened. But there he is naked, he and the man he promised he didn’t have any kind of feelings for. The man he claimed was just a quick fuck.

“How could you?” I say crying like a fucking idiot. Not only did he have sex with someone else, but he had sex with someone else, and then he called me to see it.

“David.” he quickly gets down from the bed, and slowly walks toward me. “I don’t understand what’s going on but I-Oh my God.” he lets out a loud sigh. “I know it looks bad but I promise you I don’t remember any of this.” he touches me.

“You fucking liar! You’re a liar! I caught you red-handed this time, Max; I knew I should have gotten the message when I saw the both of you holding hands in your office. I should have known that you are a lying cheating bastard!” I cry and Max has tears rolling down his cheeks.

Why the fuck is he crying? I’m the one who’s hurt, me! Not him so I don’t understand why the fuck he’s crying. He’s the one who cheated on me not the other way around. And he gets to act like he’s the victim. No fucking way.

“Baby, please let me explain.”

“I DON’T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOUR EXPLANATION WE ARE DONE!” And then it hits him: my words slap him on the face. He should be lucky that I’m only slapping him on the face with my words and not my hands because I don’t even want to touch him. He disgusts me.

“Baby, please don’t do this.” he walks over to me to touch me again and then I push him and his naked self goes flying across the room and hitting the walls. Miguel stays there on the bed, frightened at what has just happened, and he looks at me in fear,r, thinking I’m going to murder him.

I should murder him. But I’m not as evil as the both of them. Fucking soulmates my ass, fuck that.

“We are done! Don’t call me, don’t text me, don’t come in contact with me. We are done. I’m fucking done. I reject you!” while he stands he freezes midway when he hears about me rejecting him.

“No.”

“Yes. Fuck you.” I leave the room wiping the tears off my face I am getting real sick and tired of crying over basic ass people. That’s what Max is, a basic bitch and I can’t believe I gave him my attention. That’s never going to happen ever again.

I get into the elevator and Max stops in front of it.

“David, please let’s talk.” the elevator closes, and while I stand in there, I wipe the tears off my face. Why won’t these tears stop coming out, I’m just tired of crying. I’m fucking tired of being hurt. What about me screams that I’m the one to be hurt. Am I never enough? I have done everything I could to commit to this relationship. Why can’t people commit to the relationship the way I do?

Anyway, I’m done. I’m fucking done. I’m done with Max, I’m done with his family, I’m done with school. I’m fucking done with New York. I’m just done. I don’t want it anymore. The reason I came here was because I always dreamed of leaving my hometown to be in a city that I love, and now I hate this city, and I hate everything in it. It seems like the hometown I grew up in is not that bad after all.

“Mr Ramirez, are you okay?” The doorman asks me.

“Go fuck yourself,” I say walking past him. And now I regret being rude to him. I shouldn’t have said that to him he didn’t do anything to me. He’s been so nice to me. He’s nothing like Max, fuck Max.

I stand on the side of the road looking for a cab to take me home so I can pack my things and leave this place forever. This is the last time Max is going to be seeing me. I’m done with his cheating ass. I’m fucking done.

Everyone better figure out how they’re going to stop this demon from killing them but I’m done being helpful. What has this city ever done for me but give me heartache after heartache? I’m tired. I’m dropping out of school, packing my bags and I’m leaving.

A taxi stops in front of me, and I get in and tell him where I’ve got to go. He drives, and I sit in the back seat with my hand on my chin and my head looking out of the window. I receive a phone call, and when I see that it’s Max, I hang up and block him. Fuck him.

I’m just going to do the needful and leave this place. New York doesn’t want me here.

This is truly sad because Elijah and I have planned our whole lives that we were going to live in New York and we were going to thrive here. All that has happened is me getting hurt over and over. Elijah’s dead anyway so that dream has been destroyed permanently.

I’m going back home and I’m staying there. New York can burn for all I care. It’s not my business anymore.

I’m done with this city and I’m done with Maxwell Sharaf. I’m just done.

Maxwell

I swear to all the Gods I don’t know what the fuck just happened. Why was I having sex with Miguel and why did I call David to come over to see me having sex with Miguel? I didn’t do all this on purpose; something strange is going on here, and because of that strangeness, my mate has rejected me and has left a hole in my heart. Oh my God, he’s gone, he’s gone.

I keep calling and calling but I think he’s blocked me. I tried to use the mind link, but it's blank, and no, it’s not because he’s blocked me. I can’t see anything at all. It’s like we were never mates in the first place.

This is not like before when David asked for a break. This is serious, and David is pissed. But he has to know that I have no recollection of this and something strange is going on here.

“Wow, that guy is strong,” Miguel says coming out of the room. “Why did you tell him to come over when you were fucking me anyway? I bet you wanted him to hate you so that we could finally focus on us.”

I throw my phone against the wall and I rise up in rage. I head over to Miguel and I grab him by the neck.

“What the fuck did you do?” I ask him, squeezing the life out of him. It looks like his eyeballs are about to come out of his sockets, and he struggles to be set free from me. He pleads with me to let him go.

“What the hell did you do? Because I don’t remember bringing you here to fuck you, and I would never intentionally fuck you and then call David to come to witness it,, so you must have done something. What did you do?”

“I-I didn’t-I didn’t do anything pleas-”

“YOU’RE LYING!” I yell, squeezing his neck harder and harder I could very well just kill him right here and now; I’m so pissed off; I think I’ve lost the love of my life and my mate forever, and it’s all this fucker’s fault. He must have done something to me I’m sure of it. “Who sent you huh? Answer me!”

“You’re-You’re hurting-”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, Maxwell buddy, what the fuck?” Joshua pushes me away from Miguel, and Miguel falls to the ground, trying to catch his breath. He then begins to cough violently. Which means I was this close to killing him. Joshua should have let me kill the mother fucker.

“Max, what the fuck is going on?”Joshua asks looking between me and the bastard I was strangling. I begin to pant over and over. I’m fucking pissed, and I want to hit something. It’s Miguel I want to hit. But the guy is crawling away from me.

“It’s David- that bastard he-” Miguel picks up his clothes and then makes a run for the hills like I’m some monster when he knows exactly what he did.

“What happened to David why are you trying to kill that guy?”

“He’s gone. David’s gone.” I cry and then I fall to the ground. I’m crying like David is dead, and I’m mourning his loss, but he’s not dead; I’m the one who’s dead. I’m dead to him.

“Hey, bro.” Joshua wraps his hands around me. “It’s okay, you’re okay. I’ve got you.” He says trying to comfort me. No amount of comfort will be able to change the fact that David is gone.

But I won’t just give up because something strange is at play here. I’m not going to give up until I find out what the fuck is going on, and then when I do find out what’s going on, I’m going to get my mate back.
