Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Lucian
I was angry and the more I saw Yulia, the angrier I became. She could not help me with any information about the whereabouts of Dera and right now, I knew that I would lose face soon enough. Dera's phone was still off at this point and I needed to get someone that would find her. I mean, there had to be a way to trace her but in all, I could not find anything. No one knew about her company because she actually had no one. This made one thing clear to me, Dera had probably been planning this for years and the moment she came to realise that her husband was not paying attention, she took off. Now, she probably had someone assisting her. Definitely a guy who would have been at Alpha Isaac's pack and that was who they needed to find. I knew telling him that was more or less going to provoke him as he might think that I was trying to mock him or something, so, I tucked it away in my heart of hearts. I would have to find her myself and make her pay but until then, Yulia would pay.
"This is all your fault that we have to endure such embarrassment." I said to her,
"My fault? How's this my fault? She wasn't here when she went missing." Yulia said to me and I was pissed.
How dare she talk back to me with a question? I mean, I was supposed to speak and she has to listen with utmost attention. So, someone really needed to start telling me how on earth she had suddenly grown wings to fly. I got really pissed as I dealt her a really hard slap across the face that had her stagger a little as she looked up at me in shock. That had to tell her that she was in no way above correction because I would not stand for it.
"You dare talk back to me? Little wonder where Dera got that audacity from but guess what woman, if I find her, I would skin her before sending her back to her husband. You're asking how this is your fault, you failed to teach her submission was her place. You wanted to raise a rebel that would stand up to her husband, well, congratulations because she is about to bring the downfall of our entire pack!" I yelled at her.
At this point, I was beginning to feel really pissed because Yulia was making me all the more annoyed. I did not care whether or not she was breaking because she did this. Years ago, I did have a mate but she was not born royal and Yulia had been forced down my throat simply because we needed that alliance. Now, I had lost the one in a lifetime opportunity and the least I could have from her was her submission. She had brought up a disgrace for a daughter but I found pride in my sons that I raised to be both strong and smart.
"I'm sorry, my lord. I did not intend to hurt you or say things to make you angry. It's just that I am worried too. Dera is not like this and I can vouch for her. How certain are we that he did not come here to create chaos after he killed her? Her phone suddenly goes off and no one has any idea where she might be. It's somewhat suspicious." She said to me,
This part of her theory struck me suddenly and I realised that I had not thought about it that way. But having it come from her was something that I did not want because far be it that it be heard that a woman played the smarter role than me. I would not give her that benefit of doubt but now it was ringing in my mind. Alpha Issac has never been the most trustworthy man and was known for his shrewd behaviour. What if he had accidentally killed Dera and then he decided to get rid of her body secretly and at the same time, have us painted out evil. Now, it would seem that we are the kind of people who would give out our daughter and then secretly take her back.
"What are you trying to insinuate, woman?" I demanded.
"My lord, do not be angry at my words but let's look at it this way. Dera has been with him for five whole years and never for once did she make an attempt to make a run for it. She is so loyal to him that she did not dare come pay us a visit. So why on earth would she suddenly leave his pack after all this time when she never even tried before?" She asked me.
Seriously, has this woman been reading and studying law behind my back? I could not have this but I was beginning to see a way out and around all this. Not going to give her credit for it though.
"Will you shut your mouth? How dare you sully a man's name because of your wayward daughter? Wait, you think because she has stayed all these years, she has not been planning? What if she has tried but Alpha Issac out of his benevolence kept it a secret? What if all these years, she has been studying his walls for signs of weakness? Are you that dumb or something? That you would dare go out of your way to stain the name of an Alpha simply because you are trying to defend her?" I demanded.
She was frightened. I have always told her that if she gets brought before the entire werewolf council for blaspheming the name of an Alpha, she might lose her neck. Hearing this from me right now must have reminded her about that and very quickly, she fell down on her knees, trembling as she begged.
"I'm sorry, my lord. Have mercy on me. I spoke out of turn and I did not even think about it. I beg you, have mercy, please." She cried out.
Oh, seeing her in this way had me really aroused but I did not want to do that because it would seem like I was giving her a reward for her behaviour. Instead, I would punish her some more. I waited until she was done while basking in her fear and apologies. It was really great that I still had that effect on her and I could not wait to see what more I could achieve.
"That's your problem. Someday, your mouth would get you that which you seek and I am now certain it's death. Now, go get my son's and have them ready for a meeting with me at the meeting room. I will be joining soon." I said to her,
"Yes, my lord." She responded and very quickly, she rose up. She hurried out of the bedroom and now, I could dare to think.
She did have a point. How on earth had Dera suddenly gone away after five years. I had raised her too and I am pretty sure that I broke her spirit all through the years. So, anything that happened while she was out of here would solely be on him. Now, I definitely could not go back there and say it to his face that I suspected that he had harmed Dera or anything like that. Alpha Issac would make everyone spit on my face and I would be turned over. I also could not just walk around asking people in his pack questions. I needed someone to infiltrate his pack and see what they could find.
So I decided that it was time I started going to meet with my sons.
Yulia had them ready as I arrived but seeing her there made me wonder what she wanted. She was getting ahead of herself today.
"This is a meeting between men, woman. Do you mind leaving us to discuss important matters?" I demanded.
"My apologies, my lord." She said and she started walking away. I could see her reluctance as she moved because clearly, she was interested in knowing what was going to happen. Well, it would be between my sons and I.
The moment she left, I went and took my seat at the head of the table. The five of them had their eyes on me as they waited for me to start.
"I am certain that all of you have heard of your sister's treachery and how she has decided it is her place to bring shame to our family's name and so, we have to find her." I said.
"So it is confirmed that she's missing then." Darius said.
"I always knew she was trouble and when I tried to discipline her, mom always made it seem like she was being bullied. Now, look where that has gotten us now." This was Alaric. The most agile.
"Dude, we don't even know if she's alive. We should be considering that option." Kaelan said. He was the youngest but really smart.
Hearing him say that had me really confused on what to think.
