Chapter 193
RYKER’S POV
“Princess,” I growled. A deep, guttural sound laced with restrained desires. I took her like a man starved, never letting go until she whimpered beneath me, unable to take it anymore.
Her face looked flushed, sweat glistened on her skin, and her hair was slick with sweat. She lazily trailed her finger across my chest and sprawled one of her legs across mine.
“Do you forgive me, princess?” She tilted her head back to face me, and we locked eyes.
“Yes, for now,” She added with a smirk. A wide grin flashed across my face.
“You naughty girl. For now? You really don’t have faith in me at all. Just you watch. I’ll prove to you how much you really mean to me. The next morning, Lyra woke me early, saying she wanted to have a dip in the water, and she wanted me with her.
“Honestly, I’ll prefer we cuddle first.” I groaned.
“Ryker, we cuddled all night. Don’t forget all the promises you made me last night,” She pouted.
I closed my eyes briefly as the memories hit me. I don’t know what came over me last night, but I was a chatterbox while we fucked. I was sweet-talking Lyra every time I took her, whispering words of love, telling her how much I loved fucking her, and how she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever met, and that I’d do anything she tells me going forward. She was practically my Lord and master.
“Alright, let me freshen up,”
A few minutes later, Lyra was swimming in a pink swimsuit while I stayed in the water, watching her body glide across the still waters in a fluid-like manner. Then she swam around, approaching me. Her eyes held a mischievous light.
“What’re you doing?” I watched her, slightly amused.
Splash!
She threw water balls at me.
“You,” I got to her in one glide and drew her close to me, and totally dipped in the water without expecting it. As soon as we came back to the surface, she let out a loud squeal and hit my chest. “That wasn’t fair at all, Ryker.”
“You keep calling me Ryker, no special names for me?” She blushed and looked away shyly.
“Princess,”
“Hmm,”
“Look at you looking so shy and blushing, one would think you’re in love with me.”
“Ryker!” She jumped out of the water in excitement, as heat crept up her cheeks and ears.
After breakfast, we decided to go to the town just to have a little bit of sightseeing. It was a whole different experience. Lyra was super excited when she saw things that caught her fancy and was quite chatty, unlike before. I felt the slow hum in our bond. It was burning brighter underneath. A clear sign that there were positive changes between us.
My eyes trailed the curve of her neck, resting on the mark that proudly stood on her neck.
“It’s getting dark, we should head back,” She looked at me, a faint smile tugging the corner of her lips. When we got back to our room, I ordered dinner to be brought over. It was a beautiful spread. We took dinner in bed, but soon, we had dessert afterwards, over and over and over again until she closed her eyes tired, and fell asleep.
The days that followed were blissful. It was filled with us tangled beneath the sheets, unable to get enough of each other. She hadn’t told me she loved me yet, but she sure had become softer around me.
One morning, I had woken up earlier than usual and gone to the balcony to receive a call from Lief. By the time I got back, Lyra wasn’t in bed. I heard faint sounds coming from the bathroom and walked over there liersurely. But as soon as I stepped in, I was stunned to the ground.
Lyra was on the floor by the toilet. Her face was pale. Panic flooded me instantly.
“What’s wrong, baby? I supported her with my arm, and she suddenly buckled, throwing up in the toilet violently. When I noticed she seemed calm, I helped her up and watched quietly as she splashed water on her face. She tried to walk but almost lost her footing.
“Whoa,” I caught her and lifted her in my arms. “Are you alright?”
“I think I ate something that didn’t sit well with my system,” She muttered weakly, closing her eyes. I frowned, watching her release a shaky sigh after I covered her with the blanket.
“Get some rest,” I murmured, planting a soft kiss on her head. She didn’t argue. She simply closed her eyes.
What could be wrong? She looks perfectly normal aside from the paleness of her skin.
Hold up!
Could it be?
My hands snapped to her face, her skin, they glowed. And her scent, it was sharper, sweeter. My heart was beating wildly as I stared at her pale reflection.
I called the room service asking for a doctor. Soon, the doctor came to our room and checked in on Lyra, checking her pulse, then smiled after I narrated her symptoms, as Lyra was too weak to speak.
“Congratulations. You’re pregnant,” She smiled at Lyra, who had just opened her eyes, too stunned to speak. “I’m going to prescribe that you give her fluids and fruits to replenish her strength. The first trimester is usually very stressful, and she’s already weak as it is; she would need a stable environment where she’d be looked after.
As soon as the doctor left, I got room service to bring over everything the doctor advised for food.
“Princess, just take something, even if it’s just a little okay.” I held her carefully, slowly feeding her. She was still so weak.
I made a call to Lief.
“I’m leaving for Ironclaw. Meet me there. Leave Ezren and the council to hold forth.”
The next two days, we stayed back so Lyra could get better enough for us to fly. She had been so quiet since the news of the baby, but it deepened when I suddenly told her we were heading back.
