Chapter 215 The Royal Pregnancy

Chapter 215 The Royal Pregnancy
Kira’s POV

For the first time in what felt like forever, I woke up smiling.

I woke up slowly, stretching like a satisfied cat across the huge bed. The spot beside me was empty, but the sheets still carried Adrian’s warm scent.

Sunlight poured through the tall windows, painting everything in soft gold. I breathed it in deeply and smiled.

Yesterday was mad fun!

Leah snorted inside my head immediately. ‘Mad fun? I did all the actual work, you show-off. You just ran your mouth, stole the totem like a petty thief and acted like you were the female lead in an action film.’

I grinned, rolling onto my back. “But I did all the talking. That counts as combat too. Psychological warfare, Leah. Very sophisticated.”

A deep sense of satisfaction settled in my chest. Abby’s parents…Selene and Ariston…and that obsessive Liana were finally gone. No more shadows. No more manipulation. No more threats hanging over us.

I had gotten revenge for every cruel thing they did to Abby. For the first time in a long while, I felt like I could actually breathe freely.

I sat up, rubbing my still-flat belly. “Okay, today… what should we do?” I said out loud, tapping my chin. “Library for some quiet reading? Go watch the warriors train? Maybe take that new car for a spin? Or… ooh, I could go bother Adrian…turn him into my personal errand boy.”

My stomach suddenly twisted violently. What the hell?

I bolted out of bed and barely made it to the bathroom before throwing up. My whole body heaved.

Adrian’s worried voice flooded my mind instantly like he was watching me through some hidden camera.

‘Princess? Are you okay? I felt your discomfort through our bond.’

Oh…bond.

I rinsed my mouth, breathing hard. “I’m fine. Just threw up. Morning sickness, I guess.”

‘You don’t sound fine, baby. But don't worry, I have everything under control. I’ve been interviewing the royal nurses this morning. I want the best one to teach you everything about carrying a royal pup.’

I rolled my eyes even though he couldn’t see. “There’s Google for a reason, Adrian. There are books in the library. I don’t need special nurses hovering over me.”

‘Behave,’ he scolded gently. You’re carrying a royal pup. It’s not a Google thing. It's different. It can be tricky and I’m not taking any chances with you or our baby.’

I exhaled sharply and shut him out of the link before he could launch into another lecture.

I took my time showering, letting the hot water soothe my muscles, then brushed my teeth thoroughly and slipped into a soft, comfortable cream-colored gown.

But unlike other mornings, I felt starving. Like I hadn’t eaten in weeks. My stomach growled so loudly it echoed in the bathroom.

“Leah… is this normal?”

‘Yes. Royal pups drain a lot of energy to develop faster. You need to eat. A lot.’

I groaned. “But I don’t want to get fat.”

‘Go eat first and worry about getting fat later, drama queen.’

I finally left our chamber in search of food.

Servants bowed and greeted me warmly as I walked down the halls. “Good morning, Your Majesty,” echoed from several directions.

The palace felt peaceful. Normal. No looming danger, no dark shadows creeping in corners. I just hope my father will finally accept Adrian soon. Maybe the “gifts” we sent would help.

I headed toward my private dining area. A link from the kitchen staff confirmed breakfast was already prepared and the table set.

Finally! I'm starving!

The moment I entered, the delicious smells hit me like heaven.

I sat down quickly. There were platters of eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh fruits, pancakes, toast with butter and jam, oatmeal, and roasted potatoes. I dug in like a wild animal, barely chewing before swallowing.

One of the maids smiled politely. “Would you like anything else, Your Majesty?”

“Where is Victoria?” I asked between bites, mouth full.

“She went to the academy, Your Majesty. Today is Monday.”

“Oh. Right. The academy.” I hadn’t gone back since that whole dark forest incident. Honestly, I wasn’t even interested anymore.

Adrain or Thomas can teach me the rest of its ever needed. So, I kept eating.

Adrian walked in a few minutes later. The moment his eyes landed on me, his expression softened into something so tender it made my heart flutter.

He watched me devour the food like I was the most fascinating thing in his world.

There was nothing queenly about how I was eating right now. I looked like I was competing in a starvation game and had finally reached the final round.

Adrian sat beside me and gently wiped a crumb from the corner of my mouth with his thumb. “Slow down, my love. I can have them prepare more if this isn’t enough.”

I paused, suddenly feeling self-conscious. “I'm not usually like this. I look like a freak right now, don’t I?”

He chuckled, eyes sparkling with amusement. “You look like my beautiful, hungry queen who kicked ass last night and is now feeding our strong pup. Nothing freaky about that.”

“Shut up,” I laughed, slapping his arm lightly. “I bet you'd eat like this too if you were growing a human being inside you.”

“Probably. But I'd still look sexier doing it,” he teased.

I narrowed my eyes. “So you're saying I'm not sexy right now? That you'd be sexier if the roles were reversed?”

He froze completely. The confidence drained from his face so fast it was almost impressive.

“That's... not what I said.”

“It sounded exactly like what you said.”

His eyes widened slightly as he realized he had walked straight into a trap.

“Princess,” he said carefully, like a man negotiating with a dangerous enemy, “you are so sexy right now that I'm questioning whether answering your questions is worth risking my life.”

I laughed.

Taking my laughter as a sign that he might survive, he hurried on.

“In fact, you're so sexy right now that if anyone in this room is allowed to claim the title of 'sexiest person alive,' it's definitely you. And for the record, Princess, you're so sexy that I'm genuinely tempted to have my way with you right now on this table.”

The words came out with such seriousness, such desperate sincerity, that it sounded less like flirting and more like a man presenting evidence in his own defense.

I burst out laughing.

A second later, he joined me, and soon the dining room was filled with our laughter. For that moment, everything felt light, warm, and perfect.

Then it hit me again…heavier this time.

I dashed up from the table and barely reached the wash-hand sink in the corner before throwing up violently. This time, pain exploded through my stomach like someone was ripping me apart from the inside. I screamed, clutching my belly as I doubled over.

“Kira!” Adrian was by my side in an instant. He scooped me up, face pale with panic. “What’s wrong? Talk to me!”

Talk to him? How can I talk right now?!

The pain was unbearable. It felt like something was trying to split me open.

Another scream tore from me as fresh agony slammed through my body and tears streamed down my face.

“I NEED A DOCTOR!” Adrian roared so loudly the entire room shook. “HEALERS! NOW!”

Servants panicked instantly as they ran out to get help.

“GET THE SORCERESS IMMEDIATELY!”

He was already moving before anyone could respond, carrying me against his chest as he stormed out of the dining hall.

“I NEED EVERYONE HERE RIGHT NOW!”

The pain kept coming in vicious waves.

I clawed weakly at his shirt, sobbing as my stomach burned with an intensity that I couldn't describe.

“Adrian…it hurts…” I managed to croak out.

“I know,” he said hoarsely. “Hold on, baby. Hold on. Help is on the way.”

He sounded terrified. Actually terrified. And that scared me more than the pain itself.

He rushed upstairs with me in his arms while servants scattered everywhere in panic.

I could barely breathe at this point.

‘Leah… what’s happening?’ I asked desperately through the pain.

She stayed dead silent.

‘Leah! Answer me! Something’s terribly wrong! Could it be that someone poisoned our food?!’ I asked panic and pain laced in my tone.

Her voice finally came, small and stuttering.

‘It’s our pup…’
