Chapter 214 Amalie

Chapter 214 Amalie
“You have to go,” I sigh at Mark as he sits behind his desk. I try again for the second day in a row.

“I could be gone for almost a week,” he tries to defend.

“Markus, this is the first time we’ve heard a whisper of Devin,” I try not to snap.

“What happens if there is a rogue attack while I’m gone,” he points out.

“We will manage,” Cal says.

“Oh, sure, side with her as you aren’t leaving,” Mark scoffs at his older twin.

“We drew lots, and you were picked,” Cal growls defensively.

“Boys,” I say sternly, before they can start fighting. Dad had warned me that this could happen. “Mark, I know you don’t want to go, but we have to get the Devin situation dealt with. I don’t want our pup coming into this world, looking over his shoulder for a threat we could have taken care of.” I wiggle away from Cal and wrap my arms around Mark.

Goddess, I feel like I’m the size of a whale. I am having trouble reaching my arms around Mark.

“You are perfect,” Mark says as he kisses my nose.

“You can’t even reach my lips,” I growl in irritation.

“Love, you are less than a month away from your due date,” Cal points out as he stands behind me.

“And I’m still growing bigger. I’m this big and I only have one baby inside of me, how big was Luna Rachel?” I growl to myself.

“Pictures of mom, shows that she was bigger,” Mark laughs.

“You better not be laughing at me,” I hiss.

“Come on, let’s get you something to eat,” Cal says as he gently pulls me from their office.

I let out a sigh as I start to waddle towards the kitchen.

Mark picks me and carries me towards the kitchen. When we get there, he sets me down on the counter.

“I can’t believe how fast these months have flown by,” Michelle says as she hands me a bowl of peanut butter, Nutella, marshmallow fluff, and Nilla wafers. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but my cravings have amplified that.

“You see why I can’t leave,” Mark points out. He picks up the spoon and starts to feed me.

“You have to, we need to deal with this now,” I say as I take a bite of my food.

“We could put this off for a month,” Cal concedes as he takes the spoon and feeds me.

“No, this needs to be addressed now. Either one of you goes, I will,” I say as I try to hop off the counter. It is safe to say that I failed in going anywhere.

“You are not going,” Cal orders sharply.

“You’re not leaving the pack lands,” Mark orders at the same time.

I give them a look to say that one of them needs to go then.

“Fine, I will go,” Mark finally concedes. “But, you are staying with our uncles until I come back.”

“Our house is perfectly safe,” I growl in irritation.

“Yes, but there is safer with only Cal being here,” Mark says in return. “I’m not leaving unless you are staying with Uncle Will and Uncle Mike.”

“Fine, we will stay with my dads,” I concede. Honestly, it will be nice to stay with them while Mark is gone.

“I’ll leave tomorrow then,” Mark sighs.

“The trail is getting colder,” I point out. “We’ve dragged this out for two days, arguing in circles.”

“I’m not leaving until tomorrow,” Mark growls at me.

“Tonight,” I counter.

“The first thing in the morning,” Mark argues back.

“Do not push me, precious one,” Aziz growls as he pushes forward.

“I know, I know, I’m sorry,” I say as I take a deep breath. “I just want Devin behind us so we no longer have to worry about him.”

“I know, but you have to understand that you are the most important thing to us,” Mark says as he offers me another bite.

“And you have to understand that I don’t like the threat of wanna be Alpha stirring up trouble,” I shoot back.

“We understand that,” Cal says.

“When did you become the voice of reason in this relationship?” I challenge.

“When you almost ripped that Alpha’s head off last week,” Cal smirks.

“He deserved it, trying to force Willow into a mate bond with his son,” I growl. How dare that Alpha force a child into a mate bond, or the equivalent for the witches.

“And Willow is very grateful,” Mark says.

“Do not patronize me,” I growl at him.

“I’m not. I am stating the fact as our house is now overflowing with flowers that she has been growing,” Mark says as he raises his hands in defense.

“You will go, and then you will call me every morning and night,” I say. Great, now I don’t want him to leave.

“Deal,” he says. “I’ll probably even call you at lunch too.”

“I’d like that,” I say as I wrap my arms around his middle. “Okay, this is not comfortable.” I am leaning forward to hug him and putting too much pressure on my stomach.

“Let’s get you home,” Cal says as he pulls me into his arms.

Cal strides out of the kitchen and towards home.

“I can walk you know,” I grumble.

“Yes, but we would like to get home soon,” Mark laughs. He dances out of my reach so I can’t swat him.

“I’m sure he can make it up to you by rubbing your feet,” Cal purrs into my ear.

“I like the sound of that,” I say as I try to get comfortable.

“How about a bath?” Mark asks.

“So, I can be a human submarine? Yea, no thanks,” I scoff.

“James never should have showed you that video,” Cal mutters.

“I think that video is hilarious,” I try to defend.

“It’s about a human getting high and posting his thoughts,” Mark replies dryly.

“It’s still funny,” I protest.

“If you say so,” Mark smirks at me.

I have to resist the urge to stick my tongue out at him.

“Preschool will let Rose out in an hour,” Cal says to me. “Nick and Kayla are picking her up and they can keep her for a little while.”

“I know what you want, and it is not happening right now,” I growl at him.

“We could make my last night here memorable,” Mark purrs to me, trying to tempt me.

“No,” I hiss at him. I am not in the mood.

“Alright,” he concedes, but there is a look in his eye.
