Chapter 45 The Superstar (7)
Bensham’s voice was lazy, as though he couldn’t be bothered to care about anything.
Beads of sweat formed on Morton’s forehead as he gritted his teeth, "Let go!"
"Oh."
Bensham suddenly released his grip, causing Morton to stumble forward awkwardly.
Without a care, Bensham gestured for me to follow him.
I was about to take a step when Morton’s angry voice rang out behind me, "Emily, what’s your relationship with him?"
I turned back to look at him, amusement dancing, "What’s the matter? Are you so concerned about me, big movie star? Thinking about becoming my die-hard admirer?"
With that, I turned and walked away without looking back.
However, that scene was captured by a hidden camera in the corner and quickly caused an online uproar.
Before signing the contract, it had been explicitly stated that footage of the contestants outside of performances wouldn’t be aired.
But for the sake of generating buzz, what do rules even matter?
The live stream’s comment section exploded:
"I feel like the movie star is giving off greasy vibes—he’s reminding me of my bald boss at work."
"Agreed. First, he couldn’t stand Emily, and now he’s upset that she’s over him?"
"Oh my God, Bensham and Emily look like a couple—what do you think?"
"You’re all part of Emily’s paid PR team, right? Trying to whitewash her so soon?"
"Emily is disgusting!"
Amidst the flood of reactions, some negative comments stood out.
But by tomorrow, they would all vanish.
Back in the room where the puppy was kept, I cleaned up after it while casually thanking Bensham.
"Thanks for earlier."
"As a token of my gratitude, I’ve decided to transfer custody of the puppy to you. After spending time with you, I realized you genuinely care about animals."
With that, I shoved the bag of poop I was holding into his hands.
For a moment, his expression froze—confusion, then shock, followed by utter disbelief.
"Did I just help you?"
I replied breezily, "Of course. I’m rewarding you the puppy you’ve been so obsessed with."
Want to cuddle the dog but not take responsibility? Nice try, buddy!
Bensham decided to step back, "From now on, I’ll handle the feeding, and you take care of the poop."
I laughed coldly, "No thanks, it’s all yours.
He gritted his teeth, "Fine! I’ll take Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and you take Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday!"
"What about Sunday?" I asked.
"I’ll handle it!" Bensham said.
Clapping my hands with satisfaction, I said, "Great! Today’s Sunday, so I’ll leave it to you. I’m heading out."
