Chapter 42

Chapter 42

"I'm coming with you," I said to both Carlos and Xavier as they were about to leave. Carlos exhaled and turned to face me, a gentle smile playing at the corner of my lips as I looked into his clear blue eyes.

"I know what you want to say. I shouldn't come along because it's quite risky but I do wish to know some things. I know she can't harm me, Carlos."

Carlos ultimately gave in to my request after considerable pleading. After gathering a few guards, we set out to find Cecile.

"Why do you think she escaped? How on earth is that even possible? She was chained and locked in the dungeon, wasn't she?" I turned to ask Desmond in a mutter.

"Whatever she's up to, I believe she dares not try to hurt you."

I gave Desmond a warm grin as he spoke reassuringly.

We both breathed deeply as we darted our eyes, looking for Cecile at every turn, and he clasped my hands.

Whilst some guards remained to watch after the pack, some had left the pack house to search for her.

Feeling enraged, Carlos banged his fist against the concrete wall and snagged his fingers into his long blonde hair.

"I should have killed her when I had the chance," He growled as he brought out his sword from his sheath, the veins popping out of his skin was quite visible.

"When I find you Cecile, I'll make sure I bring your head back with me to my pack and serve it as a gift to my father," Carlos pledged, his voice tinged with conviction.

"Xavier, Desmond, I want you both to stay here with Camelia. Protect our mate at all costs. Not a single harm should be done to her or a strand of her hair. I'm off to find Cecile."

Carlos ordered with a nod, and as he turned to leave, he stopped on his track when he sighted Cecile.

There were guards dragging her in, and she had this evil look on her face the whole time.

A triumphant smile that betrays her lack of fear of dying.

"I won't hesitate to kill you this time around. How dare you escape!" Carlos bellowed as he advanced towards her with gritted teeth, his face reddened as steam came out of his ears.

He was enraged because he loved me and his pack so much and didn't want anything bad to happen to us.

"Tell me just that before I finally kill you, Why did you try to escape?" Carlos blurted as he gripped her neck, wanting to choke her.

"I won't tell you anything. You're just an idiot like your father. I wonder how the pack will thrive with you as the Alpha. You're only filled with fear of the unknown. Fear of what might befall you and your stupid pack," Cecile retorted, making Carlos enraged the more.

An unsettling, weird omen struck. Because of her overly strong answer to him, I sensed that something wasn't quite right.

Cecile is one stubborn and strong witch. Did she make herself fall into their capture easily? She must be up to something for her to appear easily once again.

"I guess it's high time you died, Cecile. I should have even killed you a long time ago," Carlos gave a shout and lifted his sword toward her.

She swiftly took out a dagger from her pocket and jabbed herself in the palms before he could slash her with his sword.

Suddenly, I realized there was a deep cut on my palms, and my eyes widened as blood spurted out.

How on earth did this happen?

Carlos turned to face me, his expression filled with concern and fear, after hearing me scream. He got distracted and was unable to strike Cecile with his sword.

"It…. It..hurts!" More blood spurted from the deep incision on my palm, and I sobbed because the pain was so great.

How did I manage to get a cut without being hit?

All of this, I believe, occurred after Cecile stabbed herself.

I turned to face her, and I felt a chill run down my spine at her smug smile.

"What have you done to her?" Carlos yelled, his blood boiling in rage as he turned to give Cecile a chilly glare. Once again, he regretted not killing her on time.

"Tell me before I take you down to hell, tell me what the fk you did to my mate. Why is she suddenly bleeding after you stabbed yourself? Why are you both bleeding?"
Carlos inquired as he grabbed her furiously by the neck.

Desmond and Xavier tend to my wounds. They used a white cloth to dab at my blood and I grimaced as the pain was quite intense.

Xavier hugged me and growled angrily. His pupil dilated and became orange. He frequently transforms into his Lycan form when he is upset, so this was the first time I had seen him get very angry. He glared at Cecile with so much anger and I wondered if he was about to shift into his Lycan form.

He and Carlos grasped Cecile by the neck while she choked as she gasped for air.

Things became worse as I started to feel the same way Cecile was feeling. Even though nobody was grabbing me by the throat, I started to choke and struggle for breath as well.

"Stop Carlos! You have to stop, Xavier. Keep your hands off Cecile. Whatever you do to her happens to our mate too." Desmond yelled as he clutched me tightly, trying to comfort me.

Xavier and Carlos dropped down their hands, their eyes widening in shock at Desmond's statement.

Although it was a crazy situation, it's unfortunate that it's real.

After some time, I started to breathe more easily, but the pain from my palm cuts persisted.

"I guess the vampire here is still the only one with brains among your mates, camelia." Cecile said, her eyes fixed on me with her voice loud and clear.

She smiled before turning to look at Carlos. "He's right. Whatever happens to me happens to her. If you had killed me with the sword that time, then I'm sorry to say that your mate would have been dead by now too,"

"Thank goodness I had to slit my palms with the dagger so she could feel the same pain and stop you from killing me."

"What have you done, Cecile? What have you done to Camelia? Whatever happened in the past is between you and me and not my mate."

"Oh I'm sorry but it involves your mate too, Alpha Carlos." Cecile muttered with a faint smirk which twitched her lips to the right.

"You wanted to kill me. I'm surprised you haven't laid a finger on me till now. Why? Is it because your mate is now involved?"
Cecile asked boldly as she took slow steps to Carlos, her head held high with pride as she crossed her arms.

"Tell me what you did to her because I won't forgive you if you try to harm my mate, Cecile," Carlos bawled with gritted teeth and clenched arms.

"I already harmed her. I harmed her when I cut myself with the dagger. I can do more than that Carlos. I don't mind killing myself right now, at least I'll be satisfied because when I die, she dies with me too," Cecile revealed with a giggle, her aura was menacing and her dark brown orbs pierced directly into mine, causing me to shudder in fear.

Desmond caressed my cheek and gave me a comforting gaze. His teeth shifted into large fangs and he sank it into his skin. As blood gushed out of the cut, he raised his head to look at me.

"Drink from my blood, camelia. It will heal you in time,"

"Wait.. wait…wait. Why are you doing that? I don't want my mate drinking the blood of a vampire." Xavier said to Desmond, his brows furrowed in confusion as he stared at him.

"I'm trying to heal her, Xav. I know you fear that she might turn into a vampire but that's not the case here. My blood is meant to heal. One can only become a vampire when my blood awakens them from death," Desmond explained and I grabbed his hand to suck on his blood.

After some minutes, the visible cut closed up on my palms and the wound was no longer there.

Cecile glanced at her palm, a smirk forming on her face.

"I guess I'm healed too," She said as she showed us her palms which were now healing from the cut.

"How on earth is this possible? What have you done to our mate? Why are you two experiencing the same thing?"
Carlos asked with furrowed brows, his face etched With anger and confusion.

"I see you're all curious to know, and guess what? I'll tell you,"

"I made a spell that tied my life to Camelia's. That is why she feels whatever physical pain I feel
too. Our fate is now linked together which means if you kill me, Carlos, you'll end up killing her too."
