Chapter 33
Chapter 33
"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth they say. I guess I feel a little satisfied after killing one of your kind," Damon mocked as he wiped the smudged blood on his mouth with his palms.
Carlos and Xavier knelt beside me, their arms wrapped around me as they tried to console me.
With his hands clinched, Desmond materialized in front of his brother and squeezed his neck, trying to choke him.
"You can vent your anger on me as you want but don't forget, I'll always be on the winning side," Damon boasted as he spread his arms, his face plastered with a cunny sly grin.
"How dare you kill her! How dare you!" Desmond gripped his brother's neck harder and snapped, his emotions getting over him completely.
"Don't be surprised. I've lost every little bit of my humanity and that's what makes me feel better. I was only trying to be on a fair level with you. You killed my men and I am left with no choice but to kill her."
Enraged by his brother's remarks, Desmond punched him hard in the face.
"I don't know what deal you made with the moonlight witches but trust me, I'll make you pay for what you have done," Desmond repeatedly punched his sibling in the face while gritting his teeth and muttering.
After dragging Damon and giving him a severe blow against the wall, he furiously swerved his face to make him turn to face him.
"I don't care if we are one of a kind. I wouldn't mind getting the golden stake and ripping it through your heart. It's what a jerk like you deserve,".
After listening to his brother's comments, Damon clapped. He enjoyed being indifferent, taking people's feelings for granted.
"Kill me! Rip my heart. Go on with it. My men will gather themselves to wage another war against the werewolves. You know what such actions can cause, don't you? It will increase the hatred Alpha Varlos's have for vampires and guess what, your bond with Camelia is what suffers in the end because you're also a vampire." Damon threatened with a mischievous smile while Desmond dropped him abruptly to the ground, his hands quivering.
Damon straightened his rumpled shirt while glaring mischievously at Desmond.
With a menacing sneer, he murmured, "I'm only keeping my men in their lane. I'm trying hard not to cross my boundaries since all parties have been in their respective territories after the latest war. But keep it in mind, if I don't find that seal, I will have no choice but to do otherwise."
Out of rage, Desmond gave him another tight grasp in the neck and gave him a warning look. "Have you not heard what Carlos said? The Goldmoon pack does not have the seal. Why don't you draw a different conclusion from a reliable source this time?"
"I am not deceived by the moonlight witches. I am Damon, and nobody, not even the moonlight witches, can play tricks on me or fool me."
"Then do a proper research. Consult another witch maybe but trust me, If you dare lay a finger on anyone I know, I will make sure you suffer," Desmond threatened before hurling him and hitting him to the ground.
"Your dead friend bit my friend, Damien. Her werewolf bite on him will weaken him mentally and physically. It will make him hallucinate once it starts taking effect. I know the repercussions of waging war with werewolves. I don't want my men to be weak from their bites but trust me, I won't stop until I find that seal."
"Good for you. I won't rest because I have my full support for the werewolves,"
Desmond replied to him, his voice tinged with certainty.
"Happy finding," Desmond muttered lastly as he turned to back his brother.
We all got out of the Vampire's quarters and I wept over my friend, wishing so hard that I had the powers to raise her from her death.
"I'm so sorry this happened, Camelia. I know it's a hard time now but trust me, we have to stay strong to overcome it." Desmond muttered comfortingly as he gazed at me.
My eyes were teary and heavy from crying and I couldn't help but wrap Hazel's corpse around me.
"Your brother is taking things too far. If any harm comes to my people, to my pack, and to my mate because of him, I'm sorry to say but I'll have you killed by myself, Desmond." Carlos blurted out in rage, his enraged expression locked on Desmond.
"Damn! Moon goddess. What were you thinking to have mated all four of us together? Are we some kind of pawns to play with on a chessboard?" Carlos bellowed angrily to the thin air before punching a thin oak tree behind him.
"Calm down. You need to relax, Carlos. We are gonna make it if we stay strong together," with a comforting smile, Xavier turned to face him and hinted.
"Relax? Did I just hear you say relax? Our people, wait, maybe not our people but my people are in danger because of Desmond. Not just my people but my precious mate."
"I understand but at this stage, we have to work together as a team. Camelia is scared. She needs us more than ever. So, yelling and cussing around is not gonna fix anything," Xavier muttered in a comforting tone but Carlos was far from listening.
"I will not take this anymore, maybe you can but I can't!"
Xavier stood up and stride towards Carlos with a stern face. "You're yelling at the top of your lungs because of what happened? Fine, I understand how it feels but you have to accept it. It's the prophecy. Camelia's definitely gonna have so many enemies and it's our responsibility as her mate to protect her."
"There's no word you're gonna say to me that'll make me forgive Desmond. After what happened, you can't just expect me to move on freely when his good-for-nothing psychotic vampire brother has evil intentions against my pack. You might care less because it's not your pack but I care,"
Carlos bawled, his breath coming out in short spurts with his fist clenched in a ball.
"I do care okay, and You're talking like you don't also have a weird hybrid brother who's after our mate. He's not just after her alone but your entire pack as well. Have you forgotten our encounter with his men at the woods that day? Don't you think he'll strike back, probably with other means to get back at us this time?" Xavier retorted, brushing his long hair with his fingers.
Carlos kept mute, not having a word to say again.
He could see the truth in Xavier's words.
Xavier nodded, tapped him gently on the shoulder and said, "Our mate has a lot of enemies because she's mated to three different kinds who are originally not at peace with each other. She also has enemies who are in desperate greed for her powers. It's our fate to protect her because she's bound to restore peace in our world,"
As I watched those two converse, Desmond held my hands softly and muttered to me. "I can save your friend and bring her back to life but that can only happen when she drinks from my blood."
I let out a deep breath, my eyes squinting as I ran my fingers on Hazel's pale body which was now cold.
"She'll become a vampire like me if that happens. But you have to trust me, I'll be there for her. I'll teach her how to live like us and succeed in the process. I pledge to help her through it even though I know it will be challenging for her."
I gave a small nod as Desmond continued to explain. I have no choice but to accept the condition if that's the only way to bring my friend back to life.
Desmond leaned forward and caressed my cheek, giving me a comforting gaze.
He then held out his hand and sank his fangs into it and I watched as blood gushed out of the bite in his wrist.
He brought his hand towards Hazel's mouth, making her drink from his blood.
After a few seconds, Hazel's eyes opened widely and she sat up immediately before letting out a cough.
"I'm alive. I'm awake!" She muttered as she gazed at each one of us confusingly.
"Yes you are," I replied to her, flashing her a warm but sad smile.
"What happened to me? H– how is that possible?" She asked, her eyes widened, a hint of confusion visible in it.
"Desmond gave you his blood. He brought you back to life," I revealed to her, my smile a mixture of happiness and sorrow.
I flung myself around Hazel and gave her a tight embrace before
she could say anything else.
"You'll be fine Hazel, you will." I muttered as I kissed her on the forehead.
