Chapter 483 Kaida

Chapter 483 Kaida

Time had flown by, and most who knew the secrets had passed on. It was during a visit to the Ramirez Villa that Michael was tasked with preparing a headache remedy for an elderly woman, leading him to uncover her true identity.

When Michael mentioned Melantha in the kitchen, he told Ava she could ask for help from the woman on his behalf.

Ava wasn't looking for help; she wanted to learn more about Hestia or the mysterious masked woman from the woman.

However, when she tried to eavesdrop at the kitchen door, she found it empty, with no one resting there as expected.

Ava slipped inside quietly, frowning.

The kitchen was silent, with no lights on. But she noticed the smell of flour on the cutting board and a freshly baked cake on the stove.

If the flour bag was open or the cutting board messy, Ava might have thought someone was lazy and planned to finish later. But the cake on the stove couldn't have been made in secret.

It seemed the Ramirez Villas' owner or guests wanted dessert, so the kitchen was set up for it.

But if the ingredients were there, where were the people?

With that question in mind, Ava left the kitchen. Just as she was about to exit, she overheard a maid in the corridor, clearly frustrated.

"Why is that mysterious person so particular? We did our best, didn't we! How could she call us in front of Mr. Ramirez just to scold us!"

Another maid sighed, "Is it a matter of different tastes in the Empire region?"

"It's said the mysterious person is from the western part of the Empire, where people prefer less sweetness than us. Maybe that's why she thinks our cakes are bad?"

"She just says our cakes are bad without explaining why. That noblewoman is so irritating. Did you hear her threat just now? If we don't meet her standards, she'll use her whip to teach us a lesson!"

"I'm too old to endure her whip. Even the person in the high tower couldn't handle it. I heard Michael was sent to check on her yesterday. If Mr. Ramirez hadn't mentioned Hestia's arrival and the need to impress her, we might have been in serious trouble!"

"No way, that can't happen!"

Suddenly, Ava recognized a familiar voice, "He resembles Brian so much. If he gets whipped by her, Ms. Bailey won't let it slide. Mr. Ramirez will be caught between her and that person. It'll be a big mess!"

"No, she can't keep going. I need to go tell Mr. Ramirez!"

As the woman mentioned Melantha, Ava realized she must be the maid Michael had spoken of before, the one who raised Melantha, also known as Kaida.

Before Ava could process it all, cries erupted from the corridor, "Stop her!"

"Why is she acting crazy now? Kaida, shut up!"

"No, if she spills the beans, we're all done for!"

"If that person finds out we ratted on Mr. Ramirez, we won't even get to finish that cake before we're toast. I said we shouldn't let a loony linger in the kitchen!"

A lunatic?

Ava was baffled. How could the Ramirez Villa harbor a lunatic?

Michael had suggested seeking help from this woman if needed. If there was an issue with her, Michael wouldn't have recommended it. So the only explanation...

Squinting, Ava realized this supposed crazy woman, Kaida, was putting on an act to conceal something.

If that was the case, when Melantha had ousted Kaida from the Bailey family and Edmund had swiftly brought her to the Ramirez Villa, hiding her in the kitchen for years, what secret were they protecting?

Lost in thought, Ava heard a scream from the commotion. She discreetly peeked to see what was happening, ensuring she remained hidden from view.

She witnessed an elderly Kaida being restrained by several people. Her gray hair was disheveled, her eyes vacant as she muttered, "Let me go, I can't let their plans be ruined. I won't let anyone harm Ms. Bailey again!"

The maid holding her down scowled, "Listen to her nonsense. The only Melantha in Kiliath now is Kaida. Pay attention, Kaida, that's the current head of the Bailey family, that wicked Melantha!"

"Enough, if this leaks and Ms. Bailey hears, you'll pay the price!"

Another maid, a plump one, firmly held Kaida down, ordering, "Get a cloth, we need to silence her. If she keeps causing a scene at this hour, we'll be in trouble even if we survive!"

Tears streamed down Kaida's face, smudging it.

Ava observed her pitiful state, unsure what to say.

Their eyes met, and Ava felt a shiver down her spine. How could Kaida pinpoint her location in the dark corner?

More chilling was Kaida reaching out towards Ava, pleading, "Help me!"
