The True Keira

Angel Garren's Pov

Keira would never ask us to kill our own brother, regardless of the fact that he is under the control of a wicked witch. Our mate was of pure heart. She would never demand the murder of someone that is not under control of his mind.

I used to think that no other woman can have Keira's face, but our brother's witch looked and sounded exactly like her. We would have been fooled as well if Keira had not already found a way to restore our mate bond. But I am shocked that she is now demanding for Conrad's death like she never loved him.

One of the pretentious guards that Conrad came in with takes off her helmet and just like the first time I am baffled by how much the witch resembles our mate.

"Kill me instead! I am the witch that is controlling his mind," she says.

She is that selfless? Or is it a trick to make us believe that she is the true Keira?

"You stupid bitch! You will die today!" our mate screams like she has suddenly lost her mind.

She picks up the sword that the other woman dropped and lounges at her. I am honestly not sure which one is our mate anymore. So I stop the illusion of fear I had cast on Conrad just as his witch boldly catches the sword by the blade, hissing in pain as it cuts deep into her palm. She still raises her other hand and snatches Keira's new pendant.

Both I and Fenris gasp in shock as the woman we had believed to be Keira turns into someone else! Someone with a mean face that we have never seen before.

"Nooo! You will pay for this!" she exclaims, letting go of the sword as her hands fly to hide her face.

She was never Keira. And we made love with her several times and gave her the keys to every room in the palace. She slept in our queen's bed!

"Kill her, father!" she shouts at the man that she had previously claimed to be only a servant with little knowledge of spells.

The man rushes forward to grab the sword in Keira's wounded hand. But he collapses to the floor before getting there and starts writhing in pain.

His daughter rushes to kneel by his side, no longer concerned about hiding her face. "Stop hurting him! Please, I will do anything you want!" she begs.

But Fenris only intensifies her father's pain until the old man screams like an abused child. They fooled us into hurting our mate, again. Keira had already gone through too many painful horrors. We promised to give her the best life. But the witch and her father ruined it all with their spells. Their evil is unforgivable. Not even Keira can convince us to let them live. Not when they hurt her so much.

I can only imagine the emotional pain that she and Conrad must have been through since we hurt her and forced them to flee the palace. I am so glad she is full of determination. She came back and saved us from the mental prison that the witch had locked us in.

I wonder if she will forgive us again. We almost killed her while believing we were protecting her. Now her hand is bleeding and we cannot tell how much damage the intense pain might have done to her head.

KEIRA'S POV

It worked! Taking away the pendant with my blood allowed both Garren and Fenris to see who Arina really was.

"I am so sorry! All I wanted was a little taste of your love. Please stop hurting my father," she begs as Fenris and Conrad halt next to her and the shaman who is still screaming in pain.

Garren comes to kneel by my side, "We are so sorry, dear," he says while taking me in his arms. "Please don't give up on us. You know we never meant to harm you."

My head still hurts immensely and the edges of my sword are still stuck in the tender flesh of my hand. I cannot think. But I am not the one making the loudest screams in the room. Arina's father rolls on the floor, overwhelmed by the pain that Fenris has cast upon his entire body.

"Please . . . spare our lives and I will forever be your committed servant. Do you not see that all I wanted was to love you better than that weak human?" Arina carries on begging.

"You're too ugly for someone seeking to love us. Has anyone ever told you that you got a face that only your father can love?" Fenris mocks. "I wish there was a way I can kill you more than once."

The Shaman's screams become deafening as Fenris intensifies his pain once more. Then he goes quiet as Conrad completely drains his strength, turning him into a withered corpse.

"You . . . you have killed my father! You will pay for this!" Arina wails in range.

She opens her clenched fist and the dark light of the dark stone fills the room. "I wish to leave here," she makes the wish and disappears in a puff of dark smoke.

"You gave her the dark stone?," Conrad asks in shock.

But Fenris and Garren appear even more astounded than us. "I only gave her the keys to every room since I thought bshe was Keira and she claimed to have lost her bunch," Fenris reveals, sounding extremely rueful.

"We will have yet another war," Conrad sighs in frustration.

"I am sorry, brother. But we were not in our right minds until now," Garren apologises. "Please let's for our mate first," he asks.

Both Conrad and Fenris are joins him by my side. I can barely see their faces clearly due to the pain.

"Let's take her to the palace doctor before she bleeds out," Fenris urges.

"Where is my father and Ezra?" I ask since we left them here at the Palace before Arina and her father arrived.

Neither Fenris nor Garren answers me.
