Chapter 66 Sienna's pov
Chapter 66 Sienna's pov
My mind was at peace. The fact that we managed to escape Stephan and Elder Vincent’s claws was more than enough to be grateful for.
But I was still worried. What if we were found guilty of a crime we didn't commit?
What if the Alpha didn't like us, or worse, what if he hated Lucian?
I could see some of the warriors stealing glances at us. I don't know how I could tell them that we were at the wrong place when they went searching for the rebels.
I wished Stephan's men had been captured instead of us.
“We are here.” The man who had been our protector looked at us.
My gaze went back to Lucain, who was being pulled in a cart right behind us. “Pray to your gods or goddesses that the Alpha thinks you aren’t a rebel.”
Ha, words carried weight. I knew he was not going to harm us, but he might at the word of his Alpha.
The game rumbled loudly the moment we got closer. He stole a final glance at me. “And here we are. Welcome to my home. Welcome to Ravenclaw pack.”
Many of the men bowed as we moved through the pack. They were not much, but I could feel the power they wield. Their women, children, and men were fighters.
I could hear the distant noise of fights. I looked around, and I could see some of them staring at me. They were scared of me, but still, they looked welcoming.
We stopped in front of a gigantic pack house, and I didn't need to be told that it belonged to the Alpha.
“Come!” Ronan said immediately.
Lucain was made to walk while I rushed to grab him by his side. “Lean on me.” I said softly into his ears.
The moment we were announced, the door opened. On the side of the room were old men whom I supposed to be pack elders.
I could see the way we were looked at. On the throne sat a young man in his early thirties.
He had fine features. Sharp gaze. A perfect jawline, and of course, he was looking handsome.
“They were caught at the borderline,” Ronan said with a bow.
“Rebels?” The Alpha raised his gaze.
“I am not sure, Alpha Jacquet. They seem to be running, hiding from someone.” Ronan said again. Alpha Jacquet got up slowly, his gaze landing on Lucian, who was looking pale now.
“Did you do this to him?” Alpha Jacquet asked, his gaze slowly darting towards Ronan.
“No. They are your prisoners, Alpha. I would never harm them,” he replied immediately.
“What do you have to say for yourself, young lady?”
I walked slowly and bowed my head to the ground. I could hear some of the elders murmuring and talking, but the mere gaze of Alpha Jacquet was enough to silence them.
“Let her talk!” he snapped, rolling his eyes.
I coughed and immediately started to tell my story. The whole courtroom went dead quiet. I wasn't sure if they were listening or if they were judging.
Some of them let out a gentle sigh, while some were not convinced. Alpha Jacquet’s gaze then darted towards Lucain. “And he is your brother?”
He asked, his gaze lingering on Lucian, who looked like he was going to collapse any time.
“Yes. He is my brother.” I replied.
The whole court went dead silent again.
Alpha Jacquet looked at me. “You have stated your case, Sienna. But my elders and I need to come to a conclusion about what we should do with you. You could be a spy, or you might be telling the truth. We are going to figure that out and get back to you. In the meantime, Ronan will escort you back to the door. Wait there until I send for you.”
Ronan nodded at the Alpha’s words and gestured for us to turn back. My heart felt heavy as I helped Lucian walk. His weight leaned on me, and I could feel how weak he was. Each step felt longer than the last.
As we stepped out of the hall, the large doors closed behind us with a dull thud. The sound echoed in my chest. We were led to a wide space close to the entrance of the pack house. Warriors stood around, not too close, but close enough to remind us that we were still prisoners.
Lucian sank onto a wooden bench, breathing slowly. I sat beside him and held his hand tightly.
“Stay awake,” I whispered. “Please.”
“I’m fine,” he lied with a weak smile. “You talked well in there.”
I didn’t reply. My eyes were fixed on the door, hoping it would open again soon. Time moved slowly. Too slowly. The murmurs of the pack floated around us. Some whispered with pity. Some looked at us with suspicion. Others avoided our eyes completely.
A woman passed by and paused. She looked at Lucian, then at me. Without saying a word, she dropped a small flask of water beside us and walked away. I picked it up quickly and helped Lucian drink. My chest tightened with gratitude.
Minutes turned into what felt like hours.
“What if they don’t believe us?” Lucian asked quietly.
“Then I’ll make them,” I replied, even though I had no idea how.
Suddenly, the doors opened again. Everyone went silent. Ronan stepped out first, followed by another warrior.
“The Alpha will see the girl again,” Ronan said. His eyes met mine. “Only her.”
Fear crawled up my spine. I stood up slowly.
“I’ll be back,” I told Lucian, squeezing his hand. “I promise.”
He nodded, though worry filled his eyes.
I followed Ronan back into the hall. This time, it felt colder. Alpha Jacquet stood, not seated on his throne anymore. His arms were crossed, his face unreadable.
“My elders are divided,” he said calmly. “Some believe you. Some do not.”
My heart pounded.
“But,” he continued, stepping closer, “I do not sense lies on you.”
The elders murmured again.
“You and your brother will stay in Ravenclaw pack,” Alpha Jacquet said. “Under watch. If you are spies, the truth will come out. If you are innocent, you will be protected.”
Relief crashed over me so fast my knees almost gave out.
“Thank you, Alpha,” I whispered, bowing deeply.
His gaze hardened slightly. “Do not thank me yet, Sienna. Ravenclaw is not kind to secrets. Is there anything you think we should know?” he said slowly looking at me
I knew what Lucian carries. The blood of the true Alpha. I was scared he might be killed the moment they knew.
“ No. Nothing, Alpha.” I said bowing my head to the ground.
